24.01.2022 We were delighted to welcome all of our girls back to school today. Whilst we remain vigilant, with procedures and protocols to protect the health and safety of all members of our community, were thrilled to see our school full of happy, engaged and active students once again.

22.01.2022 Anna has been playing her own part in helping combat COVID-19 by sewing protective gowns for disability workers in non-medical settings. Using the skills she gained in the Years 7-9 dress-making classes, she volunteered with Able Australia as part of the IB CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) program because she wanted to contribute in a meaningful way to her community. Thank you Anna for your fantastic efforts!

20.01.2022 Cast members from our planned 2020 production were invited to perform in a unique 2020 Revue. The girls chose their own songs and created their own choreography for this special video recording.



20.01.2022 Welcome back to PLC to all our students and staff who are returning today! We have missed you and everyone has been working very hard to prepare so that you can enjoy a safe and beautiful learning environment. We are proud of the positive way you have embraced distance-learning and know that you are going to really enjoy being with your friends and seeing your teachers again. The race covers 12,550 km and students, staff and Old Collegians are currently walking, running, riding and dancing their way in a quest to be first to their House Castle in Scotland! 11.01.2022 Lord Mayor of Melbourne & OC Sally Capp (1986), was the engaging speaker at our first OCA online event. Over 150 OCs from all parts of the globe enjoyed hearing the inspiring story of her many careers and her encouragement of women to take charge of their own workplace future. She described herself as a chronic have-a-goer and an avid embracer of change; skills she learnt at PLC that are now vital as she addresses the challenges facing the City of Melbourne during the time of COVID-19.

11.01.2022 It is wonderful to see two Old Collegians amongst the special guest authors at this years PLC Literature Festival. Rebecca Lim (1989) and Anna Morgan (2008) joined a stimulating line-up of writers and illustrators of childrens and young adult fiction who presented via Zoom. It was a special honour to have Ursula Dubosarsky, Australian Childrens Laureate for 2020-2021 to open the much-loved annual Festival.

10.01.2022 Happy birthday to much loved OC Lesley Falloon OAM (Keipert 1937) who turns 100 this Saturday. Lesley has been a trailblazer for women all her life; as one of the first residents of Melbourne Universitys Womens College; a pioneering female biochemist and Mayor of Sandringham for which she received her OAM. 08.01.2022 Fantastic news about OC Grace Brown (2010) and her selection to the Australian Cycling Team this week. Grace will be competing in the UCI World Championships in Italy starting on 24 Sept. 08.01.2022 Congratulations to Simran, Faria and Cassie on their results from the 2020 Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Competition. Out of 7500 entries, Cassies poem was one of only 3 shortlisted and Simran and Faria were both highly commended for their contributions!

08.01.2022 Over 100 girls in our Senior School string orchestras recently recorded a shortened and arranged version of German Baroque composer Johann Pachelbels Canon in D. This involved remotely recording each girl and mixing together their tracks quite a feat! We hope you enjoy this famous piece that has survived for over 300 years and is an enduring symbol of good things prevailing in the world.

07.01.2022 Chess is just one of the many recreations that can be enjoyed at home and online in our time of COVID-19. The PLC chess teams have been enjoying a bit of friendly competition and training with one another over the past few weeks. It has been a great opportunity for the girls to connect, have some fun and continue their love of chess!

07.01.2022 Who would imagine that when our Melba Chorale sang the inspiring song, "You will be found" at the Gala concert last year, that its lyrics would be so meaningful for all of us today. In this series, Lisa brings together a fascinating array of experts to discuss how to adjust to the "new normal" in a wholistic and productive way.

05.01.2022 OC Dr Sally Sherwen (2004), the Director of Wildlife Conservation and Science at Zoos Victoria, will discuss how the Zoo faced the many wildlife conservation challenges arising from the recent bushfires in a free Zoo webinar tomorrow night. 05.01.2022 The Year 12 Theatre Studies students rehearsal of The Importance of Being Earnest was conducted today. The girls not only acted magnificently, but also directed the show and designed the costumes, makeup/hair, set, sound and lighting.

02.01.2022 Happy 95th birthday to a very special member of our school community, Miss Joan Montgomery AM OBE. Joan was the 7th Principal of PLC, from 1969 to 1985 and an outstanding and inspiring educator. She often attends PLC and Old Collegian functions, much to the delight of past students and staff who remember her with great admiration and fondness.

02.01.2022 During Term 2, 36 members of our Chamber Strings Orchestra Zoomed online to perform Jeffrey Bishops Orange Jam. We hope you enjoy this outstanding performance by the girls and our thanks to the extremely talented Leah Hooper and our Audio Visual team who helped produce the piece.

01.01.2022 Congratulations to OCs Samantha Christie (1985) and Dr Christine Muttiah (2005) who have been awarded Lamont Scholarships. The scholarships are awarded annually to OCs to assist with their on-going tertiary studies. Samantha has completed Law and is continuing further studies. Christine is completing a Masters through Melbourne University and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research investigating novel treatments for women with breast cancer. We wish them both the very best!

01.01.2022 We were thrilled to learn that 11 students from Neno Girls School in Malawi have gone on to public universities this year with one having being selected to a College of Medicine. This is a first for the school and one that the whole community is especially excited and proud of.
