17.01.2022 June is Audiobook Month! Who is your favourite audiobook narrator?

14.01.2022 For #ThrowbackThursday we’re celebrating Library and Information Week by having our own adventure in space and time with ‘Catch a Falling Star’ by Meg McKinlay, shortlisted for children’s literature last year. The last time twelve-year-old Frankie Avery saw her father was the night Skylab space station was launched and now six years later it is falling to earth Judges’ praise: Meg McKinlay’s prose is poetic and lyrical, rich with imagery that captures emotions while weaving... an authentic landscape of Australia in the late 70s. #LIW2021

03.01.2022 In recognition of Reconciliation Week, for #ThrowbackThursday let’s read ‘That Deadman Dance’ by Kim Scott, shortlisted for fiction in 2011. Poetic, warm-hearted and bold, it is a story which shows that first contact did not have to lead to war. It is a story for our times. Judges’ praise: cultural collisions are seen sympathetically from both sides, and are described in a prose that has the capacity to make new and strange the events, people and landscapes that the novel memorably encompasses.
