At the same time, we briefly zoomed my weekly JOY Club members in Brisbane to wish Sister Genny a happy 90th! The group in the room sang to her. Then we all did the Sydney Harbour Bridge laugh as Sr Genny (in blue, bottom pic) was born in the year it was completed. 11.01.2022 Home caregivers for people with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 should: Ensure the ill persons rests , drinks plenty of fluids and eats nutritious food. W...ear a medical mask when in the same room with an ill person. Do not touch the mask or face during use and discard it afterward. Frequently clean hands with soap and water or alcohol-based rub, especially: after any type of contact with the ill person or their surroundings before, during and after preparing food before eating after using the toilet Use dedicated dishes , cups, eating utensils, towels and bedlinens for the ill person. Wash dishes, cups, eating utensils, towels, or bedlinens used by the ill person with soap and water. Identify frequently touched surfaces by the ill person and clean and disinfect them daily. Call your health care facility immediately if the ill person worsens or experiences difficulty breathing. See more

ABC's 7.30 followed our wonderful Registered Nurse, Jo Honan, on her journey of vaccinating the vulnerable at home to avoid unnecessary travel to a surgery during the COVID 19 pandemic. 07.01.2022 Although rare, meningococcal disease is serious and potentially life threatening. Those who survive the disease may have permanent complications. There are 13... different types of meningococcus, but most infections in Australia are caused by B and W. Fortunately, vaccines are available to protect against a number of types of meningococcal disease, including ABCW and Y. They are offered for free through the national childhood immunisation program and the school immunisation program. Since the introduction of the meningococcal B vaccine in South Australia in 2018, cases have dropped by 86 per cent. In the last 5 years, the number of all meningococcal serotype cases reported in South Australia has dropped by 81 per cent, particularly since the ACWY vaccine was added to the School Immunisation Program in 2019. While less international travel, physical distancing and improved hand hygiene have likely helped with the drop of cases in 2020, vaccines are still our number one defence against meningococcal diseases. Vaccinations are a simple, safe, and highly effective way to protect people in the community.
