21.01.2022 2021 is finally here, a world ready to kick 2020 to the curb praying that the year ahead will be better. Tonight I saw a video showcasing the violence across Perth. I found myself overcome with sadness, 80 ambulance call outs, 286 charges laid, 1300 calls for police assistance, where is this anger and violence coming from? Is a technologically driven generation connecting people more than ever, creating a internal disconnect where significance is measured by how many likes yo...u have? Children need to be taught to identify with their emotions, how to acknowledge what they are feeling in order to create strategies to move through them as adults. Intoxication can cause a Tsunami of emotions, resulting in reactive behaviours. With violent incidents growing, I am pondering what could we do differently? Could workshops focused around building connection, identifying feelings, teaching a range of skills to work through emotions?
