25.01.2022 YOU ARE MORE THAN YOUR ATAR | "There are many things more important than the ATAR can capture, and every parent is proud of their son or daughter for far more important reasons. What an important and timely reminder for our seniors from none other than the University of Sydney Vice-Chancellor Michael Spence. Dr Spence offers plenty of other great advice for this years Year 12 cohort, including the importance of choosing a uni course that "intrigues" them (not one they feel obliged to do) and to be kind to themselves during Term 4 exams. We loved his comments so much, we wrote a whole story about them...(and included lots of links about the upcoming Queensland exam season and pre-ATAR uni offers.) Find it all here

18.01.2022 PARENTS: YOUR SUPPORT MAKES A DIFFERENCE | The impact parents can have when they support their childs academic life and general well-being is increasingly being recognised in academic circles. . Theres a really interesting comment buried in this story which looks at the importance of parental support to students studying their Year 12 final exams. . UNSW Associate Professor Jihyun Lee looked at fifteen-year-old students feelings of wellbeing around the world in relationshi...p to variables including peer-support and socio-economic status. . And the finding was, in a way, really surprising to me anyhow, he said. . "The assumption is that when students get to teenagers, they drift to friendships, and so on. But [for] every single country, the best predictor of students wellbeing was parental support. . Find the story in full below. See more
