20.01.2022 Lock it in Eddie!! The BPCA has some good news for everyone and Senior Cricket has a start date and its only 39 days away, but whose counting?

20.01.2022 Well done to our A, C, D & U15 on good wins. Not sure about 13/17s. Our C's & D's both got up in thrillers (by 1 run and 2 runs respectively). Issac Conlan (63) & Paul Bamworth (61) starred in C Grade while club legend Glen Potter batted through the innings to make 79 not out and with Higgo (1*) put on the winning runs in D Grade. Unfortunately B Grade went down chasing Barwon Heads 153, which could have been a lot more if not for Patrick Mileto's sensational 6/16 (the best figures we have against Barwon Heads since Chris High took 7/41 in A Grade in 2002/03!!).

19.01.2022 It is the Clubs intention to once again this year run the Woolworths Cricket Blast Program. More information regarding this program and how to sign up will be made available shortly when it is known by the club.

17.01.2022 COUTAS FALL SHORT IN BATTLE OF THE RIP Unfortunately the Coutas went down in another exciting match against Sorrento Cricket Club in the 37th annual "Battle of the Rip" match played at Queenscliff. The Coutas batted first and after a good start by Lachie Stott (34) and Conor McNearney (14) lost their first wicket in the 8th over with 50 runs on the board. The Sharks fought back with the Coutas finding it hard to score before losing their 8th wicket for 144 with 31 overs gone.... Patrick Mileto (31*) was joined by young Lachie Kidd (60*) and the pair put on an extraordinary 83 runs in the next nine overs to lift the Coutas to 8/227 after their 40 overs. The pair surpassed the previous Battle of the Rip best 9th wicket partnership of 57 (between Tony Hanafin and David Maloney back in 98/99). Before the resumption of play members and supporters from both clubs took time out to remember Sorrento Cricket Club Legend and a good friend of the Coutas, Geoff Morgan, who passed away earlier this year. The perpetual trophy the clubs play for was named in his, and Coutas legend Max Steward's, honour many years ago. I am sure both men were watching down, Geoff with VB in hand, glad the clubs continue the camaraderie they helped establish. In reply the Coutas got off to a good start with ball with Nat Stephens picking up a wicket in the first over but it wasn't long before the Sorrento middle order got in to the groove putting on steady partnerships. Patrick Hall played some great shots and when he fell for 50 at 6/145 in the 29th, the Coutas were still in with a chance. Leigh Poholke was joined by King then when Stokes left with the score at 8/207 the Coutas needed just two wickets and Sorrento 21 runs off with just over four overs to play. Poholke turned out to be the Coutas nemesis again, batting like he'd been watching too much one day cricket during lockdown. His, lets call them "creative", shots were a joy to watch for Sharks fans but didn't bring any joy to our bowlers. His 62 not out was the Sharks saviour as they scrapped home with just over two overs to spare. It was a great match with both club's young players (and a few old boys) standing up... Geoff and Max would be proud.

If we all work together in following these steps which are in place to protect ourselves and the community we can get through this together while still hopefully enjoy another great and successful QCC season
