25.01.2022 We have been doing some 3d printing for Digital Decals Beer Crawl !

24.01.2022 So it has been a while. We've not done alot in that time. Where are we at? - We have work to do on the simulator, any javascript people out there with 3d rendering engine and bullet physics programming experience? do a thesis through us? - There is the same old work to be done on the main micro controller, a custom board with an ARM chip. Any Embeddeds with a good grounding in physics and dynamic control systems wanna have a play? do a thesis?... - We were last working on delivering USB2.0 through the slipring to the claw tip to enable a webcam or arduino and sensors or both. It is working, we have some prototypes and can probably make them at maybe $600 to $650 per unit, unless we outsource the loom, electrical work? These arnt jobs btw, RR cant employ people, it can only collaborate, hand out sweat equity and possibly pay its shareholders from any sales made. We are mostly about the robotics research here.

24.01.2022 We are just working on projecting a topographically accentuated planet earth model. Onto a proceedurally generated globe. Made of 32 hexagonal and pentagonal sections (like a soccer ball). The intention is to 3dprint the individual sections (the globe is maybe scalable to 1m diameter with simpel 3d printers). The globe would then mount into a smart servo driven gimble arrangement with a small controller to automate it in interesting ways. Like being able to call up coordinates and look at a spot. Perhaps we can get it to paint itself hmmmmm... that is an interesting idea.

23.01.2022 RR needs people RR does not really need money, unless those people need it to provide their wage... Which is probably a red flag on those people. RR has tech genius aplenty, sure it could do with more later, but what RR really needs is a new public face. RR needs someone who can stand up at all of the startup crowd events and say 'Blah blah blah'. The ability to look after any paperwork, is probably needed too. Maybe a programmer/electrical is an interesting person, but it al...l sits still without that public face. There is a problem though, Sam has the autism, does not suffer fools easily, perceives little in the moment but nearly everything given time. It takes a special kind of person to be able to work with #TheSam, a professional one, with work ethic, a decently progressive outlook and an absolutely scientific argument style. So few people fit that bill. What is on offer? sweat equity, a percentage of sales, probably a sales commission(that is actually quite a nice number). We have a good product, we have a good supply chain, we even have a little bit of traction and market presence. The biggest thing, that people underrate quite often, is mentorship. There is a lot of knowledge here, there are a lot of skills, there is a lot of experience. So far we've trialed all white males... I'm super progressive, where are all these women founders I keep hearing about? Also 'public face' does not automatically mean CEO, If you have self entitlement issues then go away please. For some reason a lot of people see themselves as some kind of tyrant or steve jobs, I dont admire that guy much ey, and we work by consensus. Do you think you can resurrect RR? Without giving #TheSam more trauma? get in touch, there are a bunch of ways, push past the stereo types, the social taboos, cool/uncoolth, show some ambition, lets dwell in reality and go for an endgame or 50. If you can do that, I am guessing RR has a damn good chance.

22.01.2022 So Sam is venturing outside, to this thing, not this weekend, but the one after, to this thing. Hopefully he can offer his design/programming experience and skills up to some promising entreprenuers, maybe bring some ideas into reality. So if you are interested in a fun pre-accelerator weekend of prototyping and talking technology, book a ticket and join in! https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/hardware-startup-weekend-ti

21.01.2022 Lab updoots, we made a mad airtight enclosure for our 4-axis CNC machine, complete with snazzy lighting and old laptop for running the softwares, going to seal and fibreglass a bed in the bottom for collecting coolant next

21.01.2022 Robot dental hygiene matters. At RAWrobotics, we like to make sure our robot's teeth are well brushed before shipping to customers. We like to use Silicon PTFE grease instead of toothpaste.

18.01.2022 We made up a script for Orion5 that will run infinitely, picking up blocks and moving them around. Every now and then it might do a waka-waka, which is where it looks around the room with the webcam connected to the USB port at the claw There is a 'feed me' routine at the beginning of the script, the robot waits for a block to be loaded, when you press a button, it will place the block down in a certain location, and wait for the next. When all are loaded it will start shuffl...ing them until the end of time The code for this is available here: https://github.com//O/blob/master/Python/rotary_shuffle.py https://youtu.be/YVuA3QO1BNo

17.01.2022 New 3d printed parts for Orion5 v1.4 - the latest mechanical design revision shaves an hour or two off the assembly time, as well as making for a much more reliable product. We're now using ETM's intsead of nuts 'n bolts. Our 3d printer farm is currently running 24/7 to fulfill some new orders

16.01.2022 We recieved 2 brand new Mk3 Prusa Research 3D printers recently, and our small 3d printer farm is working hard to meet some new orders of Orion5 v1.12. Had to make a DIY ventilation/extraction system (silver ducting in background) for The Lab as well.

15.01.2022 Come and join us on Discord for a chat. We are online most of the day. https://discord.gg/ccQRmvj

12.01.2022 First international customer! Sending this unit to University of Bonn, Germany. Hope they enjoy the extra mech we threw in The Computer Science faculty at Uni of Bonn had been looking for some appropriate hardware to teach a undergrad robotics course - when they found us online.

10.01.2022 JHY Power, our battery supplier, rolled out the red carpet when we visited their factory in Shenzhen, China

10.01.2022 We've been working on a side-project. Librarian is a parametric shelving system with a large number of drawers. An Orion5 robotic arm sits in the centre, and can insert or remove any drawer on demand, and pass it out to the user, or pass it to another librarian via the dock. We're going to use this for organising parts and tools in The Lab, combined with a user-authentication system like a ID card scanner, this could be used to track the usage of tools and parts. A camera in... the dock scans the unique QR code etched into each drawer for identification. We plan to experiment with using the camera to estimate the amount of stock left in each drawer, and send alerts for replenishment from the user or another connected Librarian. Learn more about Orion5 and contact us today! rawrobotics.com/orion5 [email protected]

09.01.2022 These 8 new v1.4 Orion5 robotic arms are ready to be delivered to a Brisbane high school Next week we'll post a demo video of the new programming and simulation environment which the students will be interacting with

08.01.2022 We've been working on a newer version of our robot arm. Version 1.7 is already passing all of the tests, optional usb at the claw tip of course. Mostely cosmetic changes, some structural improvements and the claw was made better. Have a look at this claw! Of course the software has seen a ramp of improvements and fixes too, we will post about that in the future.

07.01.2022 We are working on a series of updated tutorial videos for working with Orion5 and the simulation environment, see the first 3 parts here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist The following videos will be:... - writing python code in the simulator's IDE, testing and debugging with the simulator before testing on real robot. - the same but using MATLAB - Making sequences using the GUI sequence editor - Walkthrough of infinite sequence code - Walkthrough of firmware update process - Troubleshooting common issues See more

07.01.2022 Random memories from before we were famous... oh wait Watch from 1:05 for amusing ending. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=grVavi4z0WU&t=1m05s

06.01.2022 Designed and fabricated a 'quick mount' latching clamp to hold our Orion5 robotic arms during assembly and testing. Red triangular insert holds spring loaded pins (pogo pins) which connect with the electronics inside Orion5 and flash bootloader, firmware, and complete some automated tests of the electronics.

05.01.2022 Snazzy new gear design for Orion5 v1.2 reducing slop and backlash to essentially nothing. The double helical or herringbone gears provide a smoother movement with less wear and much more contact between teeth.

04.01.2022 We love Autodesk here at RAW. Just rebooting some CAD models after some time. We are adding a second USB port into the standard base. It is for transmitting through the turret axis slipring up to the claw. That way students could mount things like usb hubs, cameras, lidars, arduino's, whatever If you like RAW, there is room here for people. No 'jobs' of course, we are too small, we run out of a garage. There not enough revenue, just equity, possible co-founder status, sales... commissions. Very important, must be an 'Autism-Safe' person. [email protected]

02.01.2022 Here's a demo video of our new software package, including python code editor and simulation environment. Video features one of our v1.4 Orion5 robotic arm with much improved accuracy/repeatability https://youtu.be/yubWzbC6mr4
