25.01.2022 >> HEARD IT ON THE GYM FLOOR When I get fitter, I’ll start at the gym Did you know that it is our job as coaches to empower you and educate you on how to improve your fitness and lose weight or gain muscle, whatever your goals may be. You actually commence training to start working towards these goals and it’s our job to help you do this. You don’t need to be fit before you start. Plus, everyone’s definition of fit is so different so it’s ok to just be you. Our a...dvice if this is you thinking when I get fitter I’ll start at the gym is to just start with a chat.. have a discussion about how you feel and what you would like to achieve. Once you uncover the importance of your health and movement quality to you as an individual you’ll realise that you just need to start. #juststart #nowisasgoodatimeasany #hearditonthegymfloor #realbodymovement #gympie

24.01.2022 >> HEARD IT ON THE GYM FLOOR This is a statement we hear often, and it’s FALSE! Read that again. Social Media and big franchise gyms have sold High Intensity Interval Training as a quick and easy way to lose weight. It’s not. Weight loss is linked to a consistently healthy diet, regular movement (not just at the gym, but in life in general), and regular, adequate sleep cycles. ... There’s more to training than ending up on the floor feeling dead at the end of a session. Open your mind to diversity in training modalities it’s time to get results for the here and now while training for your 80 year old body. Shoot us a DM to find out more. #hearditonthegymfloor #realbodymovement #functionaltraining

23.01.2022 >> HEARD IT ON THE GYM FLOOR The busier you are, the more important it is to prioritise your health and wellbeing. You are number one, and without you the foundations start to form cracks. 168 hours in a week minus 50 hours @ work and 56 @ sleep = 62 hours. ... Set aside just four of those to train. Reap the rewards. #hearditonthegymfloor #realbodymovement

23.01.2022 The Real Body Movement Intern Program ... Weeks 8 & 9 were all things Prehab Assessment. They assessed each other then had to assess a friend or family member. Some had some really unique movements to assess with their client which made them think outside the box in yesterday’s workshop where we all programmed a custom program for their client designed based on the movement assessment findings. This Internship has been amazing and we can’t wait to run more in 2021. Some of the lessons learned so far have been outstanding and it’s given those curious about coaching an insight into what a role of a coach actually looks like, plus some awesome coaching experience and education. If you are interested in finding out more, message us! #internship #fitnessinternship #coachinginternship #coach #gympie

22.01.2022 >> HEARD IT ON THE GYM FLOOR If you can’t, you must. If you must, you can Tony Robbins Hands up if you’ve ever said something along the lines of ‘I don't like animal flow’, ‘kettlebells are too tough for me’ or ‘I don't do cardio’. Guilty?! Often the reason we don't like a particular exercise is because it tests our weakness, coordination or motor skills. Which is precisely why we need to do more of it. ... CONFUSION is the state before you learn something new. FRUSTRATION is the state before something big happens. Embrace being a little uncomfortable it’s part of learning new skills and making change. #hearditonthegymfloor #realbodymovement #functionaltraining

19.01.2022 SWIPE to 12 wk progress shots! Lauren’s Story... I was unsure about sharing my before photos because I am ashamed of how I look in them. That girl is not me. However, a friend pointed out to me that the after photos are irrelevant if you can’t see the progress. That girl in the before photos has only evolved in the past 4 yrs... Ed & I have just celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary & I am just about back at my wedding weight. ... In the past 5 yrs my body has survived the horrendous emotional throws of immense grief. It grew 2 babies; birthed 1 baby via caesarean section, & birthed 1 as a VBAC. It has nourished 2 children with milk for an accumulated 38 mths & counting. It has fought off 3 separate infections that all required hospitalisation, 2 requiring surgery. It has had side effects & reactions to huge doses of antibiotics. It has over-come postpartum depression & anxiety. It has attained multiple muscular injuries causing ongoing pain & not allowing me to do things I usually could - like waterski. It has worked 3 different jobs at once while studying, being a wife, a mother & not taking care of itself. It has been inactive, tired & deprived of self care. It has been lost. Over the past few mths my body has found herself again. I have made time for me (which has consequently enriched time spent with my kids & husband). I have set & achieved goals. I have nourished myself with informed choices & self care. I have been selfish (in a good way). I have moved. I have become stronger. I have danced again. I have learnt to barefoot waterski & achieved this as one of my goals. I have changed, if not re-written, my mindset & future. I have looked deep inside on this journey of self discovery & have found this ball of fiery dreams that has been starved over the past five years, that is desperately hungry to live life 200% better, fuller & longer! Lauren does 1 Semi Private PT & classes, has completed one of our 12 wk Habit-Based Nutrition Coaching Programs which includes our Harness Your Potential Workshop. She learnt the tools & IMPLEMENTED! That’s right, action = results. If you want to find your inner fire contact us to find out how! #gympie

17.01.2022 With the holidays almost upon us, we often see most people - especially those who play sports coming into off-season cut back their training to enjoy the holidays. This is the worst thing you can do. The off-season is the best time to focus on strength and conditioning, so you can focus on working weaknesses to return to your sport stronger and fitter than ever. A break for 1-2 weeks is ok; however, you will risk losing what you’ve gained and having to start back at the b...eginning again by taking too much longer. For those not competing in sports and gym is your way of staying active and strong; you don’t want to be continually hitting January (New Year’s) every year after a big break thinking you are starting all over again, use this time to focus inward and hit the new year with a different focus. Change the cycle. Here’s some quotes extracted from www.greatist.com’s article on How long does it actually take to get out of shape... First, it’s important to remember that taking time off now and again is a good thing. Exercise inflicts a degree of stress on your body. Any good workout program includes a heck of a lot of rest days, especially if the exercise is very intense. And there are benefits to both active recovery and complete rest. That said, use it or lose it is pretty much the rule. But exactly how much fitness you’ll lose depends on the length of your break and how fit you were to begin with. For most people, strength loss occurs after two to three weeks of inactivity, says Molly Galbraith, a certified strength and conditioning specialist. If you’re newer to exercise: Congratulations on your newish exercise habit! If you’ve hit pause on your trips to the gym, don’t take too long to hit play again. Consistency is key for building new habits, and it’s as true for the body as it is for the mind: If your body hasn’t been enjoying exercise for long, it can be easier to lose the progress you’ve made. So keep your foot on the gas and don’t drop the ball. Let’s hit 2021 stronger and fitter than ever! #consistentpersistence #hardworkwins #start2021stronger

15.01.2022 #Repost @coach_fi_keabs Transparency a value practiced at The Real Body Movement. As a Coach, I thought long and hard about sharing this video as often there is an expectation around what a coach should lift or be competent at; however, when there has been an injury/surgery involved, we need to let our guard down and do what’s best for our body along with taking into consideration that often my training isn’t always on point as what I’d like it to be. Sometimes business... gets chaotic, and our own training takes a hit to ensure our tribe get the service they deserve. This doesn’t mean we aren’t training; it just means our training may not be getting us closer to our goals. It may be that it’s targeted at trialing programs to roll out in the studio or practice skills learned in new courses. May 2018, I had my lateral meniscus removed from an old injury. I wasn’t prepared for what was to come. Recovery took much longer than I first imagined. Luckily, I found a physio who had experienced the same surgery and was able to think outside the box regarding the rehab and Animal Flow was just what it needed. Christmas 2018, my goal was to get a full range of motion deep squat again our Animal Flow Instructor course was a challenge but Loaded Beast really helped me achieve this goal. End December, I sat my butt to the ground. Next challenge: remove my hip shift/imbalance, so my loaded back squat could become neat enough to squat my body weight. Numbers are totally irrelevant as it’s unique to the individual and relative to you and your body; however, this was my goal (please no judgement). After COVID caused us to sit to coach at a computer for over 3 months, improving mobility took priority in my training. Here’s the bonus the mobility training helped me with my hip shift, and a mobile body is a strong body last week, I got it! I did a back squat for 2 reps at just over my body weight! Let’s see what 2021 brings! #transparent #nojudgement #kneerehab #squat #gympie

12.01.2022 Post ACL Reconstruction after a rugby incident has changed the goal posts for our Trainee @spartan_kenz ... now she’s slowly allowed to add back in beast crawl ... #consistentpersistence #Repost @spartan_kenz Slowly getting back to some semi-normal training!! I’m officially allowed to use the air bike and go on long walks. The physio has me doing exercises to prepare me for running and strengthen my hamstrings (they’re taking longer to regain strength than my quads).... If this experience has taught me anything it’s that you should NEVER take your body for granted and that having a healthy, functioning body is wayyyyyyy more important than being good to look at. If you can’t complete basic tasks having a hot bod is void of value. This experience has emphasised how important it is to train and exercise for performance and mental health rather than aesthetics. Goals grounded in aesthetics are great but they aren’t enough, they cannot be your only goal and the only reason you train. #reasonfortraining #realbodymovement #aclreconstruction #aclrecovery See more

12.01.2022 When you think grip strength you may think of rock climbers & weightlifters; however, these aren’t the only people who should be worried about how strong their hands are. Improving grip strength is important for everyone, especially seniors, who often find their grip strength declines with age. 3 benefits most seniors experience with improved grip: Daily Tasks with more ease... Think about how often you use your hands each day. Pouring coffee, opening doors, carrying groceries & turning taps: lots of pinching, twisting & holding with your hands. Even though these tasks may seem pretty simple now & you most likely do most of it mindlessly, if you don’t work on your grip strength, you may find that these so called simple tasks will become more difficult sooner than you’d like. If you want to maintain your independence, it’s particularly important for you to take control of your grip strength. Reduce Arthritis Pain Naturally Regular grip training may also decrease pain experienced from arthritis. Often the last thing you want to do when your hands are stiff or achy is to move them. However, hand strengthening & mobilising exercises can actually improve your movement in the joints & reduce inflammation, therefore you’ll have less pain during the day, plus you can have relief without medication. Some simple grip exercises are great to naturally relieve your symptoms. Less Risk of Disease Grip strength is also linked to a reduced risk of several diseases, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, heart attack, & stroke. Research shows that a decline in grip strength increased the risk of dying from a heart attack by 17%. The risk of experiencing a heart attack or stroke increased by 7 & 9% respectively as well. The belief is that a stronger grip typically signifies more muscle mass which, in turn, is associated with more activity & better overall health, which decreases a person’s risk of heart disease or stroke. (Ref from seniordirectory.com) This is Marg. Marg is 69 & when she first tried a deadhang she had fear around her ability to hold her body with her already arthritic hands. By slowly giving her tools to progress this, she can now do a full dead hang on her own! Proud of you Marg!

05.01.2022 This is the face of a happy tribe member from The Real Body Movement ... today we received the most lovely review from one of our tribe (pictured here) and we decided to share it on here, with the thought that her journey so far might encourage others who are sitting on the fence over starting, to simply start... we are so proud of your ability to listen, learn & implement Tiff: Back in July I decided it was time to get strong and healthy. I have a back injury that has alwa...ys given me concerns when beginning a new exercise program. I knew straight away that Fi and Matt were the right trainers for me and joined the Real Body Movement tribe. Since then I have completed 4 months of PT sessions with them and their 12 week nutrition program. I can honestly say that what I have learned from them and experienced since joining them has been totally life changing. I have dropped 3 dress sizes and lost over 9kgs. But most importantly I have gained the knowledge about how to feed and fuel my body in a healthy way, how much training I can manage to do in a healthy way and I have regained my vitality, strength and energy. I cannot recommend The Real Body more highly and can promise you that if you are ready and you follow their programs and do the work - you will change your life Thanks guys again for all that you do Tiff #nutritioncoach #habitbasednutrition #transformationtuesday #proudcoaches See more
