25.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to all the Fathers, Grandfathers and Great Grandfathers.

25.01.2022 Amid COVID-19, hope can seem far away and joy a distant memory. In Romans 12:9-20, Paul writes to the community in Rome, outlining the shape that their shared l...ife should take in terms of their love for one another, and their neighbours, in response to Gods love for them. One phrase from Romans 12:12 captured Rev David Baker's imagination when thinking about our church, shared life and love for one another and neighbours in this time: Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. If we need reminding of how we are to be together in these times, Pauls phrase offers us just that. He reminds us our hope is in Christ, and our joy comes in response to Gods love for us, no matter the circumstances.

16.01.2022 This is a great message I had spent an hour in the bank with my dad, as he had to transfer some money. I couldn't resist myself & asked... ''Dad, why don't we activate your internet banking?'' ''Why would I do that?'' He asked... ''Well, then you wont have to spend an hour here for things like transfer.... You can even do your shopping online. Everything will be so easy!'' I was so excited about initiating him into the world of Net banking. He asked ''If I do that, I wont have to step out of the house? ''Yes, yes''! I said. I told him how even grocery can be delivered at door now and how amazon delivers everything! His answer left me tongue-tied. He said ''Since I entered this bank today, I have met four of my friends, I have chatted a while with the staff who know me very well by now. You know I am alone...this is the company that I need. I like to get ready and come to the bank. I have enough time, it is the physical touch that I crave. Two years back I got sick, The store owner from whom I buy fruits, came to see me and sat by my bedside and cried. When your Mom fell down few days back while on her morning walk. Our local grocer saw her and immediately got his car to rush her home as he knows where I live. Would I have that 'human' touch if everything became online? Why would I want everything delivered to me and force me to interact with just my computer? I like to know the person that I'm dealing with and not just the 'seller'. It creates bonds of Relationships. Does Amazon deliver all this as well?''' Technology isn't life.. Spend time with people .. Not with devices. Writer: Unknown See more

11.01.2022 DATE CLAIMER Across the month of July, Rev Jim will be introducing a new five-part preaching series entitled Samson - Learning the Hard Way. As the title suggests, Samson was one of the heroes of the Old Testament despite the fact that he constantly made so many bad, even stupid, life choices. Eventually he learned his lessons. ... As a young boy, I loved to hear the stories about Samson. However, the reality was that he wasn’t a good spiritual role model. This preaching series promises to teach us the importance of making good choices and reveals more to us about the scale of God’s grace. It is truly amazing how God still manages to get his way despite us getting in the way all the time. The preaching series starts on Sunday 4 July. Why not come along. Our church service at Redland Bay Uniting Church, 230 Gordon Rd Redland Bay, starts at 9am. Blessings to you all. Jim

09.01.2022 Thank you for a very informative morning.

08.01.2022 Dear Lord, We come to you at a very strange time in our history. The threat of death and destruction is very real all around us; if it isnt from a microscopic ...virus, its from economic collapse. We pray for all those people and nations affected, especially those who dont have the economic capacity we do in Australia. We pray that at such a time as this we will become united and gain perspective, especially our leaders at all levels of power. We specifically want to pray for those for whom a lock-down is placing them in grave danger as they are stuck with the very person who is most dangerous to them. We pray for the many women, children and men who are in family violence situations. We pray as they face the terror of not knowing how their partner or parent will respond to them. We pray that they will be safe. We pray that they will have family and friends who check on them. We pray that they might find the courage to seek help, and we pray for the agencies and groups that help, that they wont be overwhelmed, but will have the resources to protect and empower. Thank you that the government, the community and the church are paying attention to this issue. May we the church show leadership in this area. Help us not to be afraid to talk about this issue in our communities, and to believe it doesnt happen in our families. We pray for perpetrators, that the strange times may highlight to them their problems, and they might seek help rather than control, they might understand the monster within and fight that enemy, not see their loved ones as the enemy. God who submitted to violence to end violence. May we not be satisfied until domestic and family violence are history. Amen Rev Paul Clark Minister of Redcliffe Uniting Church

08.01.2022 In 1953, Olive Smith (nee Crombie) was appointed Queensland’s first Blue Nurse. Olive understood how much it mattered to a person if they could stay at home, t...o be surrounded by memories, or with a beloved pet or garden. She knew how important it was to help people live life their way. How a smile and gentle personal care from a ‘Blue Nurse’ could transform a person’s day. Olive’s legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of Blue Care staff today. Discover how you can continue this legacy by supporting our work today. https://fundraise.bluecare.org.au/5VNLM3

04.01.2022 On this #ChaplaincySunday, The Lakes College chaplain, Rev Monique Coughlin, shares how being present with people and actively engaging with our community can h...elp us find support and encouragement during life's storms. #LivingFaithInUncertainTimes is about following the quiet voice of God without having everything figured out. 04.01.2022 In this sermon Dr Deidre Palmer reflects on the call from God. "... what ever that call is inviting me to or challenging me to do, or where I hear I'm being sent, the call comes out of love, for me, for us, for our church, and for the world God loves."
