16.01.2022 Today we commemorate Remembrance Day. This year has been a difficult year for everyone, and today is no different. There will be no ceremonies conducted enablin...g us to pause and remember as we have in years gone by. Despite this, we can individually take a moment to remember and ensure we maintain the intent and integrity of what is Remembrance Day. Lest We Forget Rob Brennan Colonel Commander SQLD AAC BDE

To all those that served in Vietnam and paid the ultimate sacrifice, to those that returned and to those that are sti...ll carrying the physical or emotional scars, we thank you for your Service. 11.01.2022 We hope everyone is keeping safe & doing their bit to get through these unprecedented happenings in the world at the moment. As everyone knows, all ANZAC day services have been cancelled but this morning we received a message from a lady that works at an aged care facility in Victoria Point with 180, 75-100 year olds. She is looking for a volunteer who plays the trumpet & would be willing to play the Last Post OUTSIDE the facility on ANZAC morning as it would mean so muc...h to the residents. Unfortunately we dont presently have anyone that can help out but I told her I would find someone for her. If you, or someone you know can do this, please contact us by commenting on this post or via inbox message. Thank you

11.01.2022 Redlands Army Cadets will be here assisting Rotary on the day as we have for many years.

Some of the support Army is and has been providing... includes: In VIC: CH-47 Chinooks from 5th Aviation Regiment have deployed from Townsville and have arrived at RAAF Base Sale to provide additional support. These aircraft will provide support to firefighting operations, as well as provide humanitarian assistance to remote and isolated communities. Teams from 4th Brigade will supplement state capabilities to clear and reopen roads in fire-affected areas, as well as general engineering tasks to remove debris from public areas and clear fire breaks and fire. They are also providing support to the Victoria Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) to undertake rapid damage assessments in regional Victoria. The Australian Defence Force is enhancing the capacity of the MFB Urban Search and Rescue assessors with additional vehicles and drivers. Two S-70A Black Hawk helicopters were deployed to Victoria on January 1 and are based out of RAAF Base East Sale. These helicopters have been involved in transporting firefighters from Bairnsdale to Mallacoota and transporting the injured and vulnerable from Mallacoota to East Sale for medical treatment by emergency services. In NSW: 41st Battalion, Royal New South Wales Regiment, will support the Rural Fire Service Casino flight line with loading of fire retardant at Casino airport, reducing aircraft turnaround times and enabling more sorties to be flown in the effort to defend the townships in the area. An expansion of the ground transport and logistics tasks already supported to five new locations Tamworth, Mudgee, Nowra, Maitland and Queanbeyan. Provision of personnel and equipment to undertake recovery tasks as identified and assessed by the NSW Government based on advice from specialist ADF advisers.
