25.01.2022 Here are a couple of examples of wirework done by Lyn Best and Leigh Williams. How good are these!!

25.01.2022 Welcome to Spring everyone! Or should I summer. Looks like weve skipped spring . Friday 13th of September is our next club meeting. So thrilled to announce we will be back in the (brand new) Scout Hall on Bainbridge St. Ormiston. We are so excited and we will have a celebration morning tea! Dont bring anything its all sorted. Just remember your own cups. This months Benchwork is Tricks of the Trade something Masculine Celebrating Fathers Day. Anything to do with, h...obbies, jobs, sports. Unfortunately nothing much in pictorial information to help this month, sorry ladies. Our workshop this month is Collages. Leigh Williams showed us some of her brilliant ideas last month. She was to take the workshop but unfortunately she wont be there (we will explain at the meeting). You should all have your canvas boards and have them prepped for Friday. I have posted some pictures for ideas but we really need to get our imagination going this month! See you Friday 9.30 am. See more

24.01.2022 Hello everyone! It was wonderful to get back to the club after so long. Good to see all the familiar faces again. We had a wonderful turn out. 36 members and visitors altogether. We had a special morning tea, so thanks for all your contributions. Thanks to Lynda Reynolds, Pauline Tether and Miranda Cividen for joining us in celebrating our dear Founding member Margaret Lawrence who has decided to step down from the committee after 13yrs. She was presented with a life membersh...ip badge by Noela Chapman and Lynda presented a beautiful basket arrangement she had made. Heather Drake made an awesome cake too. Photos to follow ! After the presentations and morning tea, Lynda gave us a demonstration and did 3 wonderful arrangements. We had a lot of entries in the Benchwork and everyone put in an enormous effort and did some very good arrangements on the title Split Level. Well done everyone. Thank you also Leigh Williams for taking some photos for a memory book of the occasion. And thank you all with your help in packing up and cleaning the hall. Here are the photos of our very happy event. See more

24.01.2022 Hi there everyone! I hope you are all well and raring to go to our next meeting on Friday 14th August. We have another Workshop on a symmetrical triangle demonstrated by Val & Fiona. You should all have a letter or e mail letting you know what you need to bring and on the basic points of the design. Our Benchwork title is Twists & Turns. Ive had so many ideas on this, such as finding branches, twigs with good shapes to manipulating leaves, using vials and wire and even flowers and foliage that turn or twist. Ive found a few photos to help with ideas. Unfortunately I cant be there but look forward to hearing all about it and seeing the photos of your workmanship. Dont forget physical distancing and sanitising are still priority in the hall. Have fun! Frances

23.01.2022 Hello everyone! Its October already! Next meeting is on this Friday 9th. We have a full on morning planned again. The Benchwork this month is ‘Fruit, Vegetables & Flowers’. I hope you have all got some good ideas. If not I’ve found some good examples and will post the photos on here. You don’t have to use all three. You can make it vegetables only or just fruit or a mixture, so you have lots of choices. Good luck! We also have a workshop using flat aluminium wire to make a l...ittle posy stand which will be demonstrated again by Fiona Leman. Lyn Best will also be giving us a demonstration on a very clever way to accentuate leaves and cover and make several vials attached to one another using twine or wool. You will all have your e mails from Val Decker with last month’s minutes and setting out what we need to bring for Friday. Don’t forget to stay Covid safe! Looking forward to Friday, see you all then I hope. Frances See more

23.01.2022 Some better photos of the designs created by Helen Murray at Fridays meeting. Thanks to Leigh Williams

23.01.2022 Hello everyone! How are you all doing with the much needed restrictions and isolation? We can do it! You should have all heard from our president letting you know that our next meeting in April is of course canceled . It has to be done, for the safety of everyone. On a more cheerful note, one of our lovely members has suggested that even though we cant gather together we can still show our arrangements. So we thought it would be a good idea for us to do a nice arrangeme...nt for Easter and take a pic so we can post it on here. Val has already sent you an e mail with my e mail address to send your photos to me or you can send via messenger. This is open to all our friends and family who follow us on our Facebook page. Wed love to see you all give it a go, wherever in the world you are, you dont have to be good at it , just enjoy doing it. So lets give ourselves something to do and create something special for Easter. Here are a couple of photographs for ideas. Take care Frances. See more

22.01.2022 Were baaaack! Back into the newly built Scout Hall! Some scoundrel burned it down, its been rebuilt and its great. Bigger and better. I hope all our members enjoyed our first day back. We had a triple celebration! It was also Rhonda Baulchs 90th and Olwyn Slack-Smiths 92nd Birthday. A special morning tea and Heather Drake our very talented cake maker/decorator made a beautiful cake for the occasion. Benchwork title was Fathers Day, Tools of the Trade, Masculine. Some... very clever ideas carried out in the form of floral arrangements Our workshop today was making a collage. Leigh Williams had shown us some great ideas last month and the ladies certainly came up with some wonderful works of art on canvas boards. I hope everyone likes the new hall and we can carry on for a further 10, 20, 30, or more years in the Ormiston Scout Hall! Enjoy the photos. Sorry about the windows in the background we thought our new black curtains would block them. Hoping the Scouts can get the curtains they want soon. Frances. See more

21.01.2022 Good news everyone! We are still able to hold our monthly meeting next Friday 11th September! The Benchwork is Fantastic Fans. Please have your displays up by 9.30. Dont forget to put your name under the voting cup as lot of you are forgetting to. I will put up some photos of ideas to help give you some inspiration. You dont have to use an actual fan, you can use your foliage and flowers in a fan arrangement. The workshop is using a baton which will be demonstrated by Val. Looking forward to this as I have never used a baton before . Lyn Best will be doing a demonstration of covering wire for incorporating vials etc into your design or just for effect. Dont forget to keep yourself and everyone else around you COVIDSafe and adhere to the cleaning rules of the hall please.

20.01.2022 Hello ladies, just a quick thankyou to all who have sent in their Easter arrangements. They are all just so lovely and cheerful keep them coming! Here are a couple of other arrangements I have received. Enjoy!

20.01.2022 Hello everyone! The photographs you all sent in for Mothers Day were all beautiful! I would have been happy to have received any one of your arrangements! We hope you had a special day last Sunday even if you couldnt be with your loved ones. Unfortunately still in lockdown even though restrictions have been eased. We are so blessed to live in this beautiful area. The sun is still shining and so we are able to potter around our gardens or go for lovely walks and see the nat...ure that surrounds us. We are sorry but the club still wont be able to open in June, however we have had an idea to keep you all busy. We thought you might be inspired by the season and create an Autumn design! Theres lots of scope to be creative here! Please send your photos in to me (Frances) by mid June. Unfortunately some of you have posted on here yourselves and for some unknown reason they dont show up for long. I have tried to figure it out but with no luck. So if you could send your photos to my email address that would be good. Please message me on here if you need my e mail address. Have fun and take care of yourselves. xx See more

20.01.2022 Hello all our Floral Art Friends! I do hope all you ladies that came to our last meeting had a good time and learned some new things. There was a good turnout - 26 members and 18 put up Benchwork, well done! The Benchwork was very good in every category! You all had good ideas and such a variety of fruit, veggies and flowers. I think everyone was surprised at how many different works or art you came up with. Excellent! Lyn Best did a great demo with her twine covered wire,... vials and leaf work. It’s good to know that if we are showing arrangements we have to use natural fibres such as twine, wool and raffia etc. Fiona Leman showed us and worked with us to make the delightful wire work stands for miniature arrangements. It was very enjoyable and not as hard as it first looked. Everyone managed to make a sweet little arrangement to put in the stand and the finished work was lovely. Thanks to everyone who helped set up and clean up after the meeting. It’s a big job now that we have to meet Covid safe standards. I will post all the photos below. Till next month, stay safe. 19.01.2022 It looks like Ill have to start the ball rolling and put my Mothers Day arrangement up ! Anyone else done one?

18.01.2022 Hi ladies! We have our first photo for our Autumn arrangement thanks to Judith Carter. She has done a few so Ill post the rest soon. Mine is still a work in progress. Looking forward to seeing many more.

17.01.2022 Hi folks! Fridays meeting was great as usual. A good turnout and a most interesting talk and demonstration from Linda Brennan from Ecobotanica about edible flowers. First of all the Benchwork. The theme this month Down the garden path. All you ladies are so clever! Lots of creative, pretty & elaborate designs. So good, it was hard to vote and we ended up with a couple of joint firsts in Novice & Intermediate . As I mentioned we had a talk & demonstration with Linda... and it was so informative. Who knew there were so many flowers you could eat???? Linda made a beautiful tasting Basil pesto with sunflower seeds and flower petals, lemon myrtle and several other ingredients (youll have to buy her book). It was delicious! Then we went onto the veranda to make some little pots out of newspaper and Linda had some plants we could propergate and take cuttings off to take home. Linda & her husband grow all their own flowers and produce organically and make their own infusions too. It was a great morning and like me I hope everyone enjoyed it enormously . Here are the Benchwork photos and some pictures of the ladies taking part in Lindas workshop etc. See more

16.01.2022 Hello Ladies! Im a bit late this month Im afraid. Im Busy busy busy. Novembers meeting is on this Friday 8th at 9.30 am. Anyone with Benchwork please have it presented by 9.15. This months subject is Forest Lights. Not many photo examples to show you this week. You will all have to put on your creative thinking caps! Use flowers as your lights if possible so dont focus on imitation lighting though you may use it. There are so many different mediums you can use to create your Forest and most flowers can light any arrangement. We have the wonderful and talented Helen Murray as our demonstrator this month. Looking forward to seeing her work and anything she can teach us. Leigh Williams& Valerie Decker will give us a quick demonstration on how to create Decembers workshop A Christmas Tree, using sticks. See you Friday.

16.01.2022 Having difficulty posting your beautiful designs ladies so Im trying another method - an album!

15.01.2022 Better late than never. Heres another lovely arrangement for Easter. Sue M.

15.01.2022 Here are the photos of our Benchwork ladies! Couldnt get them on the original post.

14.01.2022 Hello ladies. Many of us have been thinking of our ANZACS and decided to do something to honour them by making a wreath or arrangement. You can all partake in this. So please send me photos of your arrangements and Ill post them on here. The members of Redlands Floral Art Club Remember those who have fallen. Lest we forget

12.01.2022 I hope everyone enjoyed the meeting last Friday. It was great to see such a good turnout, some visitors and 2 new members! The Benchwork was beautiful! Lots of variety of ideas and interpretations of Forest Lights and nice to see so many entrants. Leigh & Val showed us some of their clever ideas for next months workshop on a Christmas tree from sticks plus decorations. I cant wait to give it a go . It was so good to have Helen Murray the very talented floral artist and judge from Ipswich. Helen showed us how to make some amazing contemporary designs and was kind enough to donate them to our raffles. Some lucky ladies went home with these beautiful arrangements. Heres some memories of the morning and our Benchwork! Till next month Frances

12.01.2022 More photos. The collage workshop and results. Brilliant!

11.01.2022 Hello all! Hope you have all had a good month. Next Redlands Floral Art Club meeting is on Friday 11th October @ 9.30am. Benchwork on the tables by 9.15. please. This months title is Up the garden path. This gives you scope to do almost anything really. There are formal gardens, wild gardens, cottage gardens, courtyards, large acreage, small backyards. Walled, picket & wooden fences. Stone, pebbled, wood chip, grass, paving & many other types of path if you want to liter...ally include one. I have only found a couple of photos for ideas for you with help from Leigh Williams. I hope this helps anyone who is still searching to come up with anything . We have an exciting guest speaker for Friday. It is Linda Brennan from A delicious Bunch who will show us some ways of using edible flowers to make things. We will get to taste some of her dips. She has written a book which we can purchase on the day for $30. We will also be making some simple container pots to put seedlings in which Linda will be giving out. Make sure you bring along a plastic container to put them it (ice cream containers are good). Im really excited to know about the flowers we can actually eat! I know a few but there seem to be lots more we can munch on . Hopefully see you all next Friday. Frances See more

11.01.2022 Well didnt we all have some fun at our final (Christmas) meeting for the year ! Everyone did an amazing job on the decorations for their Secret Santa present. Some beautiful little arrangements! What a sumptuous morning tea ladies. Thankyou for your efforts Lunch was delicious, so thanks to the committee and everyone for your input in supplying the food and getting everything organised. The Ready steady snip was such fun to watch and the table arrangements that were m...ade were just so lovely. Each one was different, from the use of the same flowers, foliage and decorations. So there were six lucky recipients of those arrangements and delivered by you lovely ladies that were chosen to give them to a worthy cause. The workshop, making a Christmas tree from sticks, branches etc was so successful and you ladies did an amazing job. It was lovely to see the finished results and all so different. Well done! The awards were handed out and all well deserved! A few ladies going up a grade and that shows what talented people we have in our club. Till next year, have a very Happy Christmas and New Year & summer holiday! Here are the photos! Frances See more

10.01.2022 Hi there! I found these cheap Lazy Susan’s that can be used for making your floral Art arrangements easier to put together (as well as their normal uses) at The Reject Shop for $18! The diameter is 40 cm. I think it’s plenty big enough. Just thought I’d let you all know Frances.

10.01.2022 Top of the morning to everyone! Does that phrase remind you of our Benchwork Title? St Patricks Day or Green. This months meeting is on Friday 13th March (I hope no one is superstitious). Please have your arrangements on the table by 9.15. We have invited the amazing Sue Fingleton to do a demonstration for us on Structures and also a demo on Linear arrangements to help us out for our April Benchwork. Ive hunted out a few pictures to help with ideas for this weeks Benchwork. We should have plenty of greenery in our gardens at the moment and we all know the standard symbols of St Patrick or Ireland . Shamrock, leprechauns, green white & gold, funny hats! See you on Friday!

09.01.2022 Another successful RFA meeting last week! Our meeting last Friday on European Designs by Glenda Pradella was not only enjoyable but also very informative. Glenda demonstrated a Vegetative, Parallel, Pave and Formal Linear. Some of our lucky raffle winners received a beautiful design to take home. The Benchwork was Bon Fire. The exhibits were absolutely amazing with the bright vibrant colours of a Bon Fire which filled the hall. It was also a wonderful way to showcase our ...club to visiting Presidents of the Caboolture, Nambour and Peninsular Floral Art Clubs. This demonstration was also Live Streamed to the President of Innisfail Club. This was indeed a very exciting and enjoyable meeting. We had 34 attendees with 19 exhibits. One member commented that when Glenda was doing her demonstration‘ you could hear a pin drop’ as everyone was listening to her every word . Thank you everyone for your participation. Photos attached. 09.01.2022 Hello everyone! Still in lockdown . I do hope all our members are safe and well and not going stir crazy. We thought wed give you all a project for the next few weeks. Its Mothers Day on Sunday 10th May so how about we make a Mothers Day arrangement to put up here on our page. When youve made it you can give it to your Mums or Mothers in law or give it to some other Mum that you know deserves it. So send in you photos to me (Frances) and ill put them up for you. If you dont want me to put your name on it let me know. Looking forward to seeing your designs. Dont worry if you send it after Mothers Day we still want to see them. No excuses, you must have some time on your hands right now!

09.01.2022 Were back! A great start to the year for our Floral Art Club. Lots of members turned up for our first week back and we even had a visitor who joined up straight away. The Benchwork title was Swept by the sea. There were a lot of entries and with some of our Novices going up to Intermediate and some Intermediate going up to Advanced they didnt miss a beat and showed us why they went up a grade! Well done everyone. So many great ideas and creations. Our workshop and demo...nstration by Jean was A floating ball. We were taught how to make a stand for the ball. How to cover it and how to cover the oasis ball. It was very time consuming but well worth it. Many of us didnt get to finish their arrangements after making the stand etc but I think many may have taken theirs home to finish. Please ladies if you can do it, it would be great if you could send in a picture of your finished arrangement. Either post it on here or send it to me to post. Thanks to everyone for a great day! 04.01.2022 Hi everyone! This weekend FASQ held a show at their Mt Coot-tha venue. It was Floriforius Forms. There were several catagories and titles. 3 of our members put in an arrangement. Val Decker, Fiona Leman and Maggie Ward. They were all excellent works! Im pleased to announce that Maggie won 2nd place with her very beautiful piece. Well done everyone! I went up on Saturday with Chris Wells. We bumped into a couple of other members too. We had a lovely day watching demonstrations, learning a few new techniques, chatting about the arrangements and looking at the beautiful works of floral art. I took a few photos of some of my favourites. If anyone went this weekend and took some photos, please feel free to share them on here.

03.01.2022 Another month has flown by and here we are hopefully ready for our next meeting on Nov 13th. I do hope you have had a good month and your gardens and homes or cars weren’t damaged by the recent storms and hail we’ve had. My flowers were damaged and some leaves on shrubs shredded. We have managed to get Glenda Pradella for our demonstrator this week. She is very sort after and hard to book but yay! she’s coming to our little club! Glenda will be doing European designs. The...se will be raffled off afterwards. We have also invited some visitors this week. They will be ladies who are doing the same judging course as Val and Fiona are doing. As Glenda is such a great Floral Artist we thought we’d give these ladies the opportunity to watch her work too. So please make them welcome (I know you will ) Our Benchwork this month is ‘Bonfire’ so we should have some very colourful exhibits. I will post some ideas for you, I hope they will be helpful. Don’t forget to bring back your library books and any trophies you won last year as we will need them for the December meeting. Have a good day on Friday! I won’t be there . See more

03.01.2022 Hello everyone! Long time no see! Wow its been quite a year so far. I cant believe we are 6 months in. The good news we can get back together again next week! Friday 10th July to be precise. So lets come back with a bang! This months Benchwork is titled Split Level. You should all have read your e mail from Val, outlining the requirements for this design. I will put up some photos with examples to help give you some ideas. The important thing to remember is that the p...lants or flowers in your two containers must connect somehow. We are having a special morning tea to celebrate our return. Also we are honouring our lovely Founder member Margaret Lawrence. She has had to resign from the committee due to ill health but we do hope she can get to the occasional meeting again. We will be making her a life member and presenting her with her badge. We have the wonderful former member Lynda Reynolds to do some demonstrating for us as well as founder members Pauline Tetther & Miranda Cividen visiting too. Lyndas arrangements will be raffled off! I hope you are all as excited as the committee are to seeing you all again. There will be no AGM as you know and the committee are willing to serve for another year. Membership renewal is due now so if you want a copy of our calendar you must pay your $20 on Friday. Most importantly we must adhere to the Scout Hall & Government COVID safety hygiene rules which have also been outlined in Vals e mail. See you all soon - Frances x See more

02.01.2022 Heres our first beautiful arrangement ! Just a note, theres no need to go out and buy expensive flowers, just use what you have in your garden or some roadsidia. If youve only got leaves then thats fine too. Decorate with a bit of Easter colour Vals

01.01.2022 Seasons greetings everyone! Our last meeting for the year is coming up on Friday 13th Dec. I think it will be more of a party atmosphere than a meeting We have lots of activities planned as well as morning tea and lunch. Bring along a Secret Santa present which is decorated with an arrangement of flowers, plants or Christmas decorations. We will have our awards and presentations as well as a little name that flower quiz for fun.
