18.01.2022 This sparkling Tasmanian Oak 14x6.5 National model snare is off to its owner in Sydney, a Doctor, of Music! We first met Alexander Inman-Hislop as a finalist in the @wangarattajazzandblues drums competition (2018) where he wowed us with his musical layers and patterns!!! He chose these specs for tone, body and beauty. The grain glimmers in the light with beautiful quilting!

Some of the amazing feedback we received included how it maintains the true concept of our stave shells, our role in the stewardship of rare timbers, the unique forward momentum we have to evolve and think outside the box, and above all the playable art that our drums are - thank you!!! Not only do these shells need 1/3 less feature timber, our Hybrid shells ultimately allow you the sound you have always wanted with the look you’ve always wanted - no longer does this need to be a trade off. The possibilities are endless!!!

14.01.2022 We started producing our first HYBRID test models about a year and a half ago (Oct 2019) and this one was our first - Rosewood with an outer layer of gorgeous rippling Jarrah. But, as there wasn’t enough to build a full shell in that stock, we had a dilemma to solve! Our new HYBRID snares need 1/3 of the feature timber than the full stave snares that we will also continue to produce, increasing the opportunity for us to create more stunning instruments from limited or rare ti...mbers. This will also reduce overall costs of the feature timber significantly; as an example, a timber we have struggled to get enough of is Gidgee, which is horrendously expensive at AUD$66,000 per cubic metre. A snare that might have cost hundreds of dollars extra to build in rare material becomes 2/3 less expensive!!! We will also consider making Hybrids from small amounts of special or meaningful timbers you have collected. See more
