24.01.2022 '2 Minutes of Madness' One of the most intense moments in my storm chasing career. Complete still darkness, frogs croaking and then all within 2 minutes. BOOM The atmosphere was charged like i have never felt before. There is a hint of some storm action around Broome next week. Personally I cant wait . With some of the biggest tides in over 20 years combined with strong winds and big waves it made for a truly unique Broome sight. 16.01.2022 Gantheaume Island Gantheaume Point was named by the French explorer Nicolas Baudin who passed the area in 1801. His exploration of the area was somewhat casual that through his telescope, thought it was separated from the mainland, and named it Gantheaume Island. Almost perfect conditions prevailed as we rode the outgoing tide which dropped over 4 metres in height during the trip. 07.01.2022 Comet NEOWISE from Broome WA Comet Neowise passed closest to Earth this evening at 103million kilometres and amazingly was viewable from Gantheaume Point in Broome in the hour after sunset. Mostly seen in the Northern Hemisphere, Broome just sneaks into the areas of the Southern Hemisphere for it to be seen. Such a cool thing to witness. Binoculars or DSLR cameras are best to view it possibly over the next few nights before the moon gets too bright.
