22.01.2022 Vale Chris Madson - Lyn Mahboub on behalf of Richmond Wellbeing I am so very sad to share that Chris is no longer with us on this mortal coil. I will always remember Chris friendliness, his broad grin and sense of humour. Chris is remembered for his contribution to mental health, drawing on his own lived experience journey for the purposes of recovery and healing which he held as a value.... During his time as a staff member at Richmond Wellbeing, he supported many peoples learning about hearing voices and actively worked to de-stigmatise hearing voices locally and on the international stage, he also contributed to the Hearing Voices Network as a group facilitator and Peer Worker working here at Richmond for a number of years, some years ago. Chris was also in the role when we went into prisons for the first time to hold Hearing Voices Groups and was often the solo lead in many groups, allowing some of the most stigmatised of our community to have support. This was seminal work. Chris is remembered by us all at Richmond Wellbeing, but particularly fondly by the team in the Hearing Voices Network WA. We send our deepest condolences and thoughts to his family during this difficult time.

22.01.2022 Our Bassendean supported accommodation was in a purple haze this morning as they celebrated Wear it Purple Day with a special morning tea in the garden. The occasion was complemented by natural confetti from the surrounding Jacaranda trees and purple delicacies from the wonderful team at SecondBite. Staff and residents spoke about their site being a supportive home and inclusive recovery environment for all. Wear it Purple strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and ...inclusive environments for rainbow young people. #WeAreTheChange #WearItPurpleDay2020 #richmondwellbeing #mentalhealth #wellbeing See more

21.01.2022 At Hearing Voices Network we strive to share the message that Hearing Voices is a common human experience. We seek to increase awareness of the fact that you can hear voices and live a healthy and meaningful life. We also challenge the negative attitudes towards people who hear voices and the assumption that hearing voices, in itself, is a sign of mental illness. Today we celebrate and honour each and every individual who lives with voices, visions and other sensory experiences. Happy World Hearing Voices Day! #RichmondWellbeing #hearingvoicesday #mentalhealthawareness

01.01.2022 The Board of Richmond Wellbeing is saddened by the passing of John Casson AM, our co-founder, long serving board member and Patron, who dedicated much of his life to supporting those experiencing mental distress. John was not only instrumental in the establishment of Richmond Fellowship, he led the way in a new way of thinking. This was a belief that we need to understand what has happened to people rather than what is wrong with them, that people can and do recover from m...ental distress and they can live meaningful and contributing lives in the community. We take it for granted now, but at the establishment of Richmond Fellowship, it took courage and conviction to challenge the thinking of the time. This set of values is the foundation of this organisation and it lives on today. For this reason, Johns legacy lives on at RW and will do so for many years to come. https://www.rw.org.au/vale-john-casson/ See more
