25.01.2022 Christmas in Romsey 2020 has been generously supported this year by Bendigo Bank and has seen an all time high number of Main Street Christmas Trees decorated by our wonderful businesses, schools and community groups. The large community Christmas tree’s decoration has been particularly supported by Newnham Earthmoving. ... As you know, all of the Christmas Trees are illuminated with solar lights, generously supplied by Romsey Hardware. For some extra Christmas cheer, this Friday 11th December and Saturday 12th December 2020 will see Romsey’s Main Street feature special illumination as the Fountain precinct and Community Hub buildings are bathed in colour and projection. Held in lieu of the cancelled Carols event, this will be a low key, informal opportunity for the community to wander Main Street (in sparkly Christmas attire, perhaps!) to enjoy the trees, illuminations and some food provided by local businesses or the food trucks in attendance. https://fb.me/e/1ZowX2wUH Santa will be making his usual run Next Friday 18th December! The light & Sparkle event this weekend is to see our beautiful town lit up in all its Christmas Glory Darraweit Ice Cream Van, Kerbside Cravings’ twisty potatoes and donuts and Kim’s Coffee will be in town on both nights, commencing from around 7pm. On Saturday evening 12th December, they will be joined by the Victoria Hotel Pub Truck which will provide schnitzel burgers and fish and chips. On both evenings, the illuminations will start to become visible from 8.30pm onwards with maximum visibility when it is dark (9pm onwards). In addition, Romsey’s homes and businesses are looking wonderful with amazing lights and decorations. 13.01.2022 The talk by Peter Sanders ‘Burke & Wills the Victorian Journey’ originally planned for Sunday 20 June, has been postponed and will now be held on Sunday 25 July from 2.00 4.00 pm at the Lancefield Mechanics’ Institute annexe. Peter will accompany his talk with an exhibition of many of the sixteen paintings he made of the places the Expedition Party stopped on their journey through Victoria. The paintings will be for sale as will copies of prints of these paintings. How ...could we resist enjoying another aspect of the Burke & Wills story? HOWEVER - the Macedon Ranges is a mecca for creative entrepreneurs. RRBATA is delighted to announce that international chef and now icecream entrpreneur Andrea (Dre) Reiss will be guest speaker at this event. After commencing her training in Melbourne, Dre has worked in London (The Green Room Ma...yfair and The Lanesborough St Regis Hotel) and Paris, having been head-hunted by the Michelin-starred Taillevant Restaurant. She returned to Australia and founded Chez Dre and Bibelot in South Melbourne. Her focus is now on icecream and (as a Macedon Ranges resident), has founded the Woodend Ice Cream Co. and Gisborne Ice Cream Co. (along with the Footscray Ice Cream Co.).
