25.01.2022 New ....Mosaic fused glass, dichroic & wire wrapping

23.01.2022 Bit excited.. a full load just fired & now for the real exciting part...getting pieces ready for next firing - Horse Hair and others for colour. Seems like ages since I last fired. I have been quietly busy.. getting a room in my studio set up as a gallery to display my finished pieces & working on a special order. Also now building a lean to so I can protect my LPG kiln. The slab is just about complete. I haven't fired this kiln for 30 years so another interesting adventure a...head. Some images of my gallery room. I have been at this night & day & still have some small tasks to do. I put some photo copies up of my exhibitions & I was surprised my life with clay was 1985 to 1987. l now have some of my horse hair pieces in a really nice new gallery opened in Dunolly. Vic PUZZLEFLAT. This is the first to have my new pieces on display in public. My pieces were selling fast so limited stock to have out there. I love retirement.... See more

22.01.2022 New firing. Decided to give the Horse Hair a go as it has been a few weeks since I did a test piece. Fired the kiln Saturday about 1pm & finished Horse Hair decoration 7.30am. Sunday I decided the kiln was still warm so took it up again & this firing & the decoration finished at 1am. Earlier than I thought. Pleased with the results but ran out of horse hair so could not complete my last piece. Still testing the electric kiln & pleased it went really well. I can't seem to throw big pots so with a graphics background I rely on the design.

20.01.2022 My very first test piece for Horse Hair pots...The pot is taken out of the kiln at 700Deg & single horse hairs are placed on to the pot where it leaves a carbon in print.. Apparently an early American Indian technique... so appreciate my friend Alona who introduced me to the technique and sent me horse hair from her horse who has passed on... A pot will give her some happy memories... More work to do in this area... but so exciting!!

18.01.2022 Special orders made for a very special friend with the horse hair from her special horses. Each piece sits on a stand and the horse shoe sits around the top of the stand....It was a real challenge to incorporate a horse shoe in to the design but I think I did okay....

01.01.2022 It is great now that I have my electric kiln for ceramics working again, just needed a new switch. I am fortunate to have a neighbour Michelle that provides me with the horse hair when she trims her horses tail. This allows me to play. Special orders are created when horse hair is sent to me from an owner who wants a special piece from their beautiful horse they currently own or in memory of their loved horse that has passed.
