19.01.2022 Back in 2011, El Salvador was hit with a huge storm that lasted eight consecutive days. During this storm, Jose and his 10 siblings were abandoned by their mother. . The police evacuated the single Mum with all eleven of her children to a shelter where they were given temporary refuge. Even though the children slept on the floor, they were still very grateful to have food provided to them. However, It was during this time that their mother, who battled alcohol addiction, aba...ndoned all eleven of her children leaving them in the shelter and never returning to collect them. . When the storm had passed, everyone in the shelter returned to their homes. Jose, who was only two at the time, with his siblings had nowhere to go. They ended up wandering the streets begging for food and money. Some concerned neighbours called the police who came to pick them up. . The older children fearing the Police ran away leaving the younger five kids behind who then were taken to the Child Protection Offices in El Salvador. It was from there that they were transferred to Exodo - the Children's home. . Arriving at Exodo, the children were underweight and suffering not only physically but emotionally as well. Exodo urgently provided food, safety and the medical care that the kids so desperately needed to begin their journey of healing. . Eight years on, Jose and his siblings are thriving! Jose is now ten years old and it is because of the attention and care of the Children's home staff that Jose has grown into an active and very sweet little boy who continuously works hard in school and dreams of a brighter future! . With a regular gift of just $10 per week your donation can help to restore the lives of precious children like Jose. . If you are interested in supporting this vital work, please visit . 07.01.2022 Over the years we have seen remarkable transformations in the lives of the children who have been rescued from abuse or abandonment. Not only have we seen them grow and develop in their studies but also in their emotional wellbeing. This comes down to the unrelenting commitment of the team at Fundacion Exodo working tirelessly behind the scenes each day. Through the COVID-19 crisis our partners in El Salvador have been faced with unique challenges that come with running the ...Children’s home during the lockdown. We are happy to report that they are going strong and we are seeing wonderful fruit based on the years of love, care and support the staff and volunteers have endlessly provided. Our efforts in El Salvador would be impossible without the help of our Regular Giving Programs. Through our regular giving programs we have been able to invest into children’s futures by helping cover education costs within the Children’s Home. Just $10 a week can help transform a child’s life. You can help this vital work by joining our Regular giving program at www. 04.01.2022 From despair to big dreams! Emilia's Story - The breakdown of the family unit in El Salvador for the many reasons including poverty, unemployment, widespread violence in the community, drugs and alcohol abuse have a devastating impact on the lives of children.... This was the case for Emilia whose tragic family circumstances led to her arrival at Exodo Children’s Home at the age of nine in 2015. Emilia’s Mum was an alcoholic. Due her abuse of substances, she could no longer work and lived on the streets. Emilia’s two older brothers had joined gangs and had been in and out of jail several times. At times Emilia would live with relatives, other times she would live with strangers, but no one was able to provide the adequate care that she needed. She would often wander the streets hungry living only off the food that neighbours would give her. Sometimes I slept on the street and one day the police found me and took me with them because I was in such danger.- Emilia, 14 yrs Emilia would have remained extremely vulnerable on the streets on her own. Her life would have continued to be precarious and dangerous and her future uncertain. But, at the Children’s Home, Emilia has found the love, safety and security which every child deserves. She says, I love living at Exodo because they treat me with love and take good care of me. She is a sweet girl, always cooperative and is now growing into a beautiful young lady with big dreams of studying hard to become a Doctor when she grows up! Thanks to Exodo Children’s Home she now has every opportunity to excel and to be all that she can be! With a regular gift of just $10 per week your donation can help to restore the lives of precious children like Emilia. . 02.01.2022 Its been a few months since the images of people waving white flags by the side of the roads in El Salvador began to surface. They were powerful images of people who had run out of food and were desperately seeking help to feed their families. These images impacted us and it was hard to sleep through the night for days or maybe for a few weeks as this crisis unfolded. Over and over again we have heard our partners in El Salvador say that they have not seen suffering on thi...s scale in El Salvador in a very long time. But, God stepped in. Yesterday our Emergency food relief was aimed at reaching some of those beautiful people who months into this crisis are still desperately seeking help and support. Our dear friends Pastor Roxana and Pastor Mario and the team from Castillo Del Rey (our absolute heroes!) led the way on Sunday morning and brought not only a physical blessing but a touch from God to those who stood weary by the side of the road. It began with a small group of people but as word got around the number grew as people came running from their homes asking for food supplies. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity that has made this possible!! #TheChurchHasLeftTheBuilding #SalvadorsHope #Charity #ElSalvador
