23.01.2022 My latest Commision in its new home in Canberra. A birthday present for the clients husband. I provided a gift certificate to be presented on their birthday, I was then able to work with him to create exactly what he wanted and costume make the sculpture for their display shelving. An absolute joy to work with and so happy to see it in its new home!. All photos by the wonderful @davidveart

21.01.2022 Virtual Tour for the day | Sam Hopkins, '2030', Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2020. Tour Commentary: Kirsten Hay. Video: Hayden Fortescue. https://youtu.be/-V...tcVNStMNg For this video, we wish to note Sam Hopkin’s sculpture was sponsored by Capral. Capral kindly sponsored the aluminium in the sculptures by Noah Birch, Ellen Broadhurst, Sam Hopkins and Anne Neil in this year’s exhibition. The reference in the video to aluminium being hard to use is a reference for the challenges of welding aluminium not in general.

19.01.2022 . ‘Engulf’ - The overwhelming feeling of being consumed by your thoughts can make you feel paralysed, so absorbed that you can't escape. And yet, our thoughts do not exist outside of our awareness. - Stainless Steel, 59cm x 56 x 21. On exhibit at @trafficjamgalleries

19.01.2022 Last commision of the year now at its new home. Summing up 2020 all too well, an edition to ‘kinesics #3’.

17.01.2022 @sculpturebythesea wraps up tomorrow so I thought I’d share some of my favourite shots showing the polished stainless steel in its constant flux, adapting to the weather and time of day.

12.01.2022 ‘Resilience’ is one of my latest works now on display at @trafficjamgalleries. The epicormic shoot, a sign of life and the true resilience of Australian Flora. A mechanism for survival and primarily seen after bush fires sweep our lands.

08.01.2022 Excited to share this work, especially after it won the Sculpture/textiles Award at City of South Perth Emerging Artist Award last night. Titled: Leave No Trace - ‘Exploring the balance of manufacturing and nature, like the growingly popular rock stacking. Originally way finders, now taken out of context, exploited by humans and our need to continually make our mark in nature. The constructing of stone stacks, a kind of environmental graffiti, when the purpose to be in natur...e was to leave the human-dominated world behind. As with the process of metal inflation, its a balance of fabrication and nature taking its course. Though the individual forms are primarily dictated by the artist, it is the 'controlled loss of control' of the inflation that brings organic nature into the fabrication not the fabrication into nature.’ Many thanks to the award sponsor: @liquorbarons on Angelo.

07.01.2022 ‘Waiting For Hope’ is now on display in @haleschool Foyer as part of the @fineart_at_hale exhibiting opening today. Due to the uncertainty of Covid the exhibition will be run online this year and the @fineart_at_hale team have done a great job putting it together and making the most of an unusual year. To engage with the students a number of works have been installed throughout Hale School grounds for the duration of the online exhibition. @ Hale School

07.01.2022 ‘Fragmented Nostalgia’ is off to its new permanent home in NSW .I thought I’d give a bit of insight into the journey of this work and what it can take for the right person, at the right time, in the right situation to put the red dot on a work. ‘Fragmented Nostalgia’ has exhibited in 7 different exhibitions/locations across Australia which also saw it up on a billboard in Canberra. Its gone from the studio to Darlington > South Perth > Subiaco > Perth CBD > South Perth > Sydney > Batemans Bay > Kingswood > Bondi > Woolloomooloo > Walsh Bay > New home Thanks again to @artpark_aust

06.01.2022 ‘Interdependence’ 2020, Corten steel and granite. An exploration of the relationship between two forms through metal inflation. Breathing life into metal by metamorphosis of steel from a flat and unpliable state into a soft and dynamic form. by @jessica.wyld
