25.01.2022 From all of us to all of you, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. We will be back in the office on 4 January 2021 with reduced staff, and fully back on deck from 11 January 2021. 24.01.2022 Alex and I were fortunate this morning to wander up to @sweettalkcoffee for the Women in Law breakfast hosted by @usqlawsociety. A wonderful opportunity and a pleasant stroll around the streets of Toowoomba CBD on the way.

16.01.2022 A lot has a changed over the years: ownership, location, and trading hours to name a few. A lot also remains the same: our community spirit, advocacy for access to justice, compassion and understanding.

15.01.2022 Last week I attended a wonderful CPD program organised by the South Burnett District Law Association in Kingaroy. It was an informative and interactive session, and even allowed some of us to sit in the big chair ie. where the judicial officers sit. The opportunity definitely gave me a greater understanding of how difficult poor advocacy skills can make things in the Court room. Over the years, I’ve recognised the importance of contin...uing to learn new things. The law, people, our communities and the World are ever changing. 15.01.2022 I am beyond proud to be able to [finally] welcome Ryan to the profession. Even prouder to have been able to move his admission. From university to now, it has been a wild ride. I cannot wait to see the wonderful work that he accomplishes in his career. Macdonald Law are lucky to have him!

It is encouraging to know that our local Toowoomba Bar continues to grow and that we now, locally, have some excellent choices of knowledgeable Counsel to instruct in matters. #shoplocal doesn’t just include your bread, produce or clothing, but your profession...al services as well. And with the increasing number of options whether it be Solicitors or Barristers, you know you will be able to find the right, local, fit. 11.01.2022 I’ve learnt a lot of lessons from my dad statistically, there will be as many wins in life as there are losses. Embrace both. connections are the cornerstone of life and business. Getting along with people is a gift rarely treasured, so treasure it. family time is important. When you’re with them, be present. They aren’t second to anything or anyone else, so don’t make them feel that way. ... So hug your dad and listen to the lessons they have to learn. See more

Section 60 of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act (Qld) still enables a lawyers to contact an aggrieved even if a no contact order is included. 09.01.2022 I was finally able to see the new perpetual trophy for the @usqedu Best Advocate Trophy in the @usqlawsociety mooting competition sponsored by @macdonaldlaw_. The Mooting Competition was established a few years ago and is a wonderful opportunity for students to get a taste for the law in a more hands on way.

06.01.2022 Separation is tough and is, often, a personal decision. That’s why separation in Australia doesn’t require consent. Only one person in a relationship needs to decide that you should separate. I regularly sit down with people when they are contemplating separation and talk through the process and the options which are unique to their circumstances. At the conclusion of that conference, I often hear that the discussion has really eased the...ir mind and provided clarity to a very stressful and overwhelming process. I always want the team to know that I support them and I am reliable. In return, we have the greatest team who are reliable and supportive of Jag and I (and the whole of MacDonald Law).
