24.01.2022 Your smile for the week
24.01.2022 I love this video, I have watched it so many times. It amazes me how imprinted movement and memories can be. I think this is why I love working with people who live with Parkinson's Disease. It would be easy to just see the disease and what has been lost, but each of these beautiful people I have the privilege to work with have their own story; they were athletes, ballerinas, professionals, tradesmen, high powered business people, teachers, mothers and fathers. Our brains are truely amazing and we have movement programmed , we just have to unlock the memory.
24.01.2022 We have grown and we love serving our community, but I need a physiotherapist to add to our fun, dynamic team . If you are a fabulous physiotherapist looking for a part time position right in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, this is a great opportunity for you to enjoy changing lives and still have the time you need to make life fun. We are centrally located in Buderim, we share this space and work closely with a Podiatrist and Exercise Physiologist who are AWESOME and we have our own, custom built gym on site which allows us to participate in the whole rehabilitation process as required. If this sparks your interest and you are looking for a position that allows you to create the role you desire, get in touch for more details.
24.01.2022 Okay so getting more ideas for my Parkinson's Programme get ready for Monday you awesome crew.
22.01.2022 Just had this come across my FB page and thought it might be good for my Parkinson's group or for anyone who knows someone with Parkinson's Disease.
22.01.2022 I am sharing this post from another source because I find this picture extraordinary. The human cell is the most intricate organism and yet a familiar pattern; a grand design, sometimes simple, other times in complex, extraordinary detail. This is what you are made of. Do you find that mind blowing? When your cells are healthy, you’re healthy. When your cells are unhealthy, disease and dysfunction occur. Cells are like miniature cities. There is food production, waste managem...ent, transportation, communication and a power plant - the mitochondria, where redox signaling molecules are made. This image is the most detailed model of a human cell to date, obtained using x-rays, nuclear magnetic resonance, and cryoelectron microscopy data sets. In this image, the cell looks like an intricate botanical garden, indeed designed by The Master Gardener! ********************************** Source and Credit: Transformation of the Cellular Landscape through a Eukaryotic Cell, by Evan Ingersoll Ingersoll Gael McGill ~ Digizyme's Custom Maya Molecular Software Biología Al Instante

19.01.2022 I came across this talk on the non motor symptoms of Parkinson's Disease and needed to share it. If you have Parkinson's Disease or know someone that is living with it, please take the time to listen and share. I am a physiotherapist passionate about helping people who bravely live with PD, I think this talk is so helpful. It will explain some of those symptoms you may have experienced but don't understand. It will help you feel more comfortable with your situation whether you are a patient, a loved one or a carer. It will allay some of the fears and uncertainties and empower you to take action. Being educated is key.
19.01.2022 Good morning everyone; so I'm a little biased because I'm from Zimbabwe, but this beautiful remix put such a smile in my heart today. Just look at the joy on this grandfather's face as he records a song with his talented Grandson. Beautiful music, beautiful faces, community come together, the magic of song. Have a blessed day
18.01.2022 Thankyou Sue W for these beautiful sunflowers. They've brightened my physio room all week and now they will brighten my home for the weekend. Your recovery is a reward in its self but this extra treat is so appreciated.
18.01.2022 Hope the start of your week was A OK and that you are feeling excited for all the possibilities that lie ahead of you, even if you haven't realised them yet. Remember you find the things you focus on, so gratitude for what you already have is very powerful and can turn a rotten day into an opportunity for joy.
16.01.2022 At the end of my first week back at work after having a dream holiday in Paradise (Whitsundays), and it has been a crazy catch up week but I am so grateful for what I have: Grateful for the team I work with who really care about people and support me to do the same. Grateful for the privilege of helping people take back control to live their lives with purpose. Grateful for my family who put up with me working late often, spending myself on my clients and not always being ab...le to do the same for them when I get home. Grateful to tick off a bucket list dream and travel to the spectacular Whitsundays even in the midst of Covid. Grateful to special friends who shared this awesome experience. What's on your bucket list? It's time to dream a little
15.01.2022 Thank you to our community for supporting us through COVID; found this cute little video - shows what we can do when we stick together. Looking forward to serving you all in 2021, our SCHS community rocks, we love you.

13.01.2022 In spite of a slightly cooler start to this week, it is the 1st of October and the days are definitely getting longer. It is also typically the time we all start thinking about getting HEALTHIER. There is something about the sun shining that switches our brains into " I need to get fit mode". It's great, we all need the nudge, especially coming out of winter, however we all have a tendency to expect our bodies to bounce right back into a pre winter condition and that leaves y...ou at whim of injury. Consider the following: 1. You are reconditioning, not just getting back to fitness, so take it slowly and consider increasing your intensity/duration of exercise by 10% per week until you are feeling comfortable with the load. 2. Interval training has been shown to be more effective in a shorter amount of time than long haul pounding the pavements or the gym. Interval training means you increase your pace for short bursts of time before pulling back to a manageable level. You might choose to time these bursts (20-30 sec high intensity, followed by 1 min of moderate intensity) or choose land marks (increase your pace to the next driveway, then slow it down for the next 5). Continue this through out your exercise session and you can get more benefit from a shorter work out. 20 mins of interval training done well, will be more beneficial than a 45 min walk. 3. Take time to stretch, not just after a work out but utilise your down time (like watching TV) to perform a few simple stretches. Muscles to consider: # Hip flexors, neck extensors and chest if you spend a lot of time sitting # Lower back muscles and hamstrings if you manual work # Neck and thoracic for posture relief. 4. Eat in moderation and try to substitute snack foods for whole foods. 5. Set goals. Being content with life right now is only possible if you have a hope for your future. You can create the future you desire by setting goals and working incrementally towards them. It is absolutely possible, it just takes an acknowledgement of what you need to change and the desire to want it. Spring is a great time to get in shape, look after your body and it will look after you. Enjoy being the architect of your own dreams, you have the power.
12.01.2022 Saturday night... #sorrysusan
07.01.2022 Had so many wins in the past few weeks in our Parkinson's neuro-active exercise programme; apart from growing to 6 full classes per week, I have wonderful reports from my tribe telling me how their lives are changing; 1. Walking on the beach again after years of not being able to enjoy putting toes in the water. 2. Climbing Mt Coolum - a goal not thought was possible. 3. Mastering a complex task we have been practicing in classes. 4. No falls for a few months... 5. Confidence to travel in the caravan again having not being able to manage the trips for the past 2 years. 6. Getting back on a bicycle and going for rides with her husband. 7. Walking every evening again with husband and keeping up. These stories make my heart sing. You don't have to have a Quality of life threatening disease to set a goal to change, grow, achieve, succeed, you can set your mind to be a better version of yourself even in the every day ordinary parts of life. We were meant to keep growing, not to stagnate. What are you looking to change in your life? Don't be afraid to start.
05.01.2022 Don't miss the best things in life, Stop for a minute stand still take a deep breath in look around you ... isn't the view amazing? Enjoy your week ahead and keep a look out for , they are never where you expect to find them.
04.01.2022 Does it look like I'm missing work? Recommended to unwind, refresh and gather momentum to finish the year well.
