22.01.2022 Had my first opportunity to go on an adventurous walk for Dr Ash Bowden ‘s #MoveAgainstCancer and visited the Emerald Pool in Popran National Park. Underestimated how far I’d have to walk as I didn’t have 4WD access however it just meant extra steps for the day. The exercise guidelines for reducing your risk of developing certain cancers and for those living with cancer are the same, with both populations aiming to perform at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic exercise per week (as their current ability and symptoms allow). Today I managed to achieve just over 60 minutes at this intensity (plus another 30 minutes at a vigorous intensity) lugging a toddler 95% of the walk. Physio Connex Performance Clinic

21.01.2022 In September, as part of the Physio Connex team, I will be supporting an initiative by Dr Ash Bowden aka Doctor Do More and Central Coast Primary Care to raise funds for cancer research. You can donate here https://stars.cancercouncil.com.au/fundraisers/ashbowden Physical inactivity is associated with a higher risk of developing colon and post-menopausal breast cancer, as well as possibly prostate, uterine and lung cancer. Being inactive also contributes to unhealthy weight gain, which subsequently increases your risk of developing cancer. The initiative encourages people to increase their physical activity levels via a step challenge. I will personally be focused on achieving the "most adventurous walk". Keep an eye out each week for a new track I've explored.

13.01.2022 Interesting read recently. Isometric Resistance Training (IRT) using a grip strength device or leg extension machine for 4x2mins, three times per week for 5-10 weeks has been shown to decrease blood pressure comparable to cardiovascular and dynamic resistance training, as well as blood pressure medication. Good to challenge previous thoughts and beliefs #WorldHeartDay #BetterLateThanNever

12.01.2022 Wow what a way to wrap up our season with the Central Coast Roosters! Harvey Norman Premiership Champions! . . From November 2019 myself, Andrew and Scott hav...e been working in overdrive across the Central Coast rep programs - women’s and men’s. A huge responsibility but nothing we weren’t prepared and ready for. I have to say, Covid has thrown some challenges at us, but I’m very proud of my team to rise to it every time. . . Congratulations girls! Undefeated the whole year - you guys deserve it . . #womeninleague #harveynorman @wrugbyleague @centralcoastrugbyleague #centralcoastroosters @sydneyroosters @isabellekelly Central Coast Rugby League Central Coast Roosters Rugby League Academy See more

09.01.2022 Over the weekend I provided medical coverage for the NSW Touch Country Championships. A bit different to the usual setup due to COVID-19 restrictions. Thankful the serious injuries were few and far between. Also good to see Doylo get the win over Wollongong in the men’s opens grand final
