20.01.2022 It was a great afternoon here at Seaforth Bowling Club for the final of the Region's single Rookies Championships. Congratulations to both players but a big congratulations to Dale Nuttall of Belrose bowling club.

19.01.2022 The final of Seaforth Bowling Club's mixed fours championship final played Saturday 21st November was a true final event. Teams were: Jenny Roberts (skip) with Jacqui Morgan (3rd), Anson Austin (2nd) and John Kenniwell (lead). ... and Garry Enfield (skip), Mary Hastings (3rd), Libby Scahill (2nd), and Bruce Wilkins (lead). The score see sawed all the way through. In true Seaforth style there were lots of laughs, oohs, aaahs and wows. At the 20th end the scores were even, 21 to 21. The last was to be the decider!!! And it was.. Jenny didn't have to bowl her last bowl as they had that elusive last extra shot. And then the score was 22 to 21. The writer was playing next to the rink and it was very hard to concentrate on her own game. Well played by both teams and congratulations must go to Jenny and her team. A great game everyone.

17.01.2022 Today, Friday 2 October nearly 40 Seaforth Bowling Club spectators watched one of the best Women’s Triples Finals, or for that matter, any Triples final played at SBC. The game was played on green 2 which had been beautifully prepared by Sam. The weather was perfect, sunny with a gentle NE breeze and the game was played in a wonderful spirit. Our two top triples teams who fought out the 2020 final were Brenda Chalmers Lead, Jacqui Morgan Second, Jenny Roberts Skip agai...nst Peta Cass Lead, Sharyn Hudson Second & Lynn O’Grady Skip. The quality of the game was top-shelf, very entertaining and was extremely close from start to finish. Both sides skipped away at times to a 3 or 4 lead before being quickly brought back to a bowl-for-bowl situation. Prior to the game the late-mail was that the experience in finals rested with Jenny, Jacqui and Brenda. It seems that Lynn, Sharyn and Peta had not read that mail. They were not going to be intimidated by the big-guns and played a very strong and positive game matching their opponents bowl-for-bowl. End 21 finished 19/19 with Lynn saving the end by ditching the jack with a positive but risky forehand on-shot with her last bowl. The extra and final end was fantastic. It was a long end and Brenda and Jacqui had set up a good head at about the T, while Peta and Sharyn had good bowls placed if the jack shifted. Lynn did it again, she took the jack back near the ditch and was holding shot. This time it was win the end and the game for Jenny with her last bowl - well Jenny did it, she bowled a lovely backhand draw shot which finished inside Lynn’s bowl giving the game to Jenny, Jacqui and Brenda by 1 after 22 ends. This was one of those games that it was very hard to pick who might win. It was wonderful to watch and showed how strong women’s bowls is at SBC. Each bowler rolled-in some fantastic bowls at critical times. Very well done to both teams and CONGRATULATIONS to the 2020 SBC Women’s Triples Champions, Jenny Roberts, Jacqui Morgan and Brenda Chalmers. Commentary and photos by Kevin Keller

17.01.2022 The ladies from Seaforth Bowling Club ended 2020 yesterday (Wednesday 16th) with a great game of bowls in the morning and then a lovely and tasty lunch prepared by our social committee. Thank you all for the hard work to make the best of 2020.

14.01.2022 The men's Major Singles final was played on Tuesday 3rd November. It was a great match in which Peter Cole emerged as our 2020 Major Singles Champion with a 31-27 win over Kevin Keller. The game was tense and hard fought with many twists and turns. It was certainly deserving of a championship playoff. Congrats to Peter on his win and to both Peter and Kevin for the spirit in which the game was played. Well done fellas.

13.01.2022 Something to think about and make you smile. Kindly submitted by Sharyn Hudson. Thanks Sharyn T'was a week before Christmas,... And all through the town, People wore masks, That covered their frown. The frown had begun Way back in the Spring, When a global pandemic Changed everything. They called it corona, But unlike the beer, It didn’t bring good times, It didn’t bring cheer. Airplanes were grounded, Travel was banned. Borders were closed Across air, sea and land. As the world entered lockdown To flatten the curve, The economy halted, And folks lost their nerve. From March to July We rode the first wave, People stayed home, They tried to behave. When summer emerged The lockdown was lifted. But away from caution, Many folks drifted. Now it’s December And cases are spiking, Wave two has arrived, Much to our disliking. It’s true that this year Has had sadness a plenty, We’ll never forget The year 2020. And just ‘round the corner - The holiday season, But why be merry? Is there even one reason? To decorate the house And put up the tree, Who will see it, No one but me. But outside my window The rain gently falls, And I think to myself, Let’s deck the halls! So, I gather the ribbon, The garland and bows, As I play those old carols, My happiness grows. Christmas is not cancelled And neither is hope. If we lean on each other, I know we can cope Merry Xmas See more
