20.01.2022 A wonderful feature on one of the communities Sense of Place has had the pleasure of working with to assist them in their self determination journey. A fabulous lesson in when the going gets tough, the tough get creative!

19.01.2022 One step closer to reality - #senseofplace has been working along side the amazing team at the Shepparton Motor Museum & Collectibles and representatives of the truck and transport industry to shape the concept, business case and funding mix for this exciting new attraction to be built in Shepparton. Wonderful news today confirming our application for $2.5m from the Federal Government has been successful. This is backed by a $1.25m commitment from the Greater Shepparton City Council and will be supported by private contributions.

17.01.2022 Food is at the heart of community, it nourishes us, comforts us, brings us together in celebration and can identify where we come from. It is an integral part of our communities’ narrative. Wonderful to hear from Richard Cornish and learn more of the regional communities transforming their destinations to reflect their own food stories. Isn’t it about time we explore what makes the Goulburn Valley tick? What are some of your best food experiences?

15.01.2022 And that’s a wrap! What an incredible experience the #GirgarreReViVal has been. #SenseofPlace has had the privilege and pleasure to work alongside the Girgarre community for the past 2.5 years. From concept development, through two rounds of competitive applications and then as part of the steering committee delivering the program. Like all of the best things in life, there’s been highs, some struggles and disappointments, but most of all there have been incredible achie...vements, surprises and the realisation of this inspirational community’s vision. Grateful for the opportunity. #lovemywork #connectedcommunity #opportunitythroughcreativity #girgarrewatchthemgo #girgarrerevival #senseofplaceconsulting

01.01.2022 A great read highlighting the significant role cultural tourism can play in stimulating smaller towns and cities. Often it's the fine grain detail in the small...er towns and cities that truly engages visitors. "the growth in tourism is like a nice spring rain after a long dry season. It’s another reminder of why rural tourism can be the perfect small town business idea.

01.01.2022 What’s your Story? Regional travel is on the rise globally as iconic cities and once must see destinations grapple with the challenges of over tourism. There is a growing desire for visitors to live and travel like a local. Connecting with a visitor audience starts with creating a memorable experience or feeling. Often it’s not the attraction that people remember it is the feeling they had when they visited that place that stays with them the longest.... It can be this more localised experience that leaves a more lasting impression with visitors than the big block buster exhibition or iconic photo opportunity. Smaller communities can become known for their friendly service, safe environment, clean air, fresh produce and unique local stories. In the final chapter of this four segment program, Carrie Donaldson from Sense of Place will explore ways to present your unique stories and encourage visitors to stay a while. Members from across the Greater Shepparton community are welcome to attend. To register contact Greater Shepparton City Council.
