24.01.2022 After weeks of rain and wind warnings and not a single callout, our amazing volunteers were gifted a tree down on a warm Sunday morning. Summer preseason has officially started and I don’t think I’m conditioned for it yet #Sundaymorningsleepin #rudelyawaken #isitwinteryet

24.01.2022 I don’t think it’s going around us this time Severe Weather Warning for HEAVY RAINFALL Stay Informed: http://www.bom.gov.au/vic/warnings/... Weather Situation: A low pressure trough over central Victoria will move slowly east overnight and during Saturday. HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is possible across parts of northern, central and eastern Victoria tonight and into Saturday. Broad rainfall rates of 10 to 35mm over six hours are likely within the warning area, with up to 60mm over six hours possible. Rain will contract to eastern Victoria during Saturday morning before easing to showers during the afternoon. A Flood Watch is current for catchments across parts of central and eastern Victoria, while a number of flood warnings are also current. The Victoria State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. * Be alert that in areas recently affected by fires, heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads. * Check that loose items such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured and move vehicles under cover or away from trees. * Stay indoors and away from windows. * If outdoors, move to a safe place indoors. Stay away from trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways. * If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater. Avoid travel if possible. * Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees. * Stay away from fallen powerlines always assume they are live. * Stay informed monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels at the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency. The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 am AEDT Saturday.

23.01.2022 Woohoo we’re back to training In recent times we’d taken a break from face-to-face skills maintenance and training to focus only on responding to emergencies. From today, you might see us back out training in small groups to ensure we have the essential skills and capability required to respond.... Emergency services are permitted to undertake this training, as endorsed by the Victorian Chief Health Officer. Our crews are following all the COVIDSafe principles, wearing masks and working hard to ensure we are there for our community.

17.01.2022 Apparently those strong wind warnings may be true. A SEVERE WEATHER WARNING for DAMAGING WINDS has been issued for people in parts of Central, East Gippsland, South West, North Central, North East and West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts. Latest information: http://www.bom.gov.au/vic/warnings/... DAMAGING WESTERLY WINDS averaging 40 to 60km/h with peak gusts of around 90km/h are possible about the southwest coast and Bass coast to Wilsons Promontory during Monday morning, easing by the afternoon. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Be aware that trees that have been damaged by heat or fire may be unstable and more likely to fall when it is windy or wet.
