22.01.2022 Golf Australia (GA) issued a statement on Friday advising that, while the Covid-19 situation remains volatile and GA staff stand ready to act on government advice, GA’s weekend tournament play will proceed. Other key points included: GA will continue to monitor developments of the Covid-19 virus in line with Australian Govt recommendations. Although they remain under strict review, there are currently no defined reasons to cancel events not involving crowds or large-scale... interstate travel GA will urgently advise all stakeholders should there be a fundamental reason to alter our beliefs around participants' safety and well-being. GA recommends clubs & facilities monitor advice from the Department of Health and Smartraveller website in coming days. GA strongly advises that if anyone with flu-like symptoms please refrain from attending events and seek medical advice as required. GA will, along with its partners in the Australian golf industry, continue to make decisions based on the welfare of all involved in the sport. We will keep updating this new SGA FB page with vibrant, relevant, informative and entertaining content and grow this into our primary social media channel. We do h/caps every day so ...we can get GOLF Link numbers to our members ASAP. We have been signing up hundreds of new members this year - either getting a handicap for the first time or reactivating an old GOLF Link number. 01.01.2022 The Corona Virus situation is changing by the day with our community taking precautions to try to slow the spread of the virus. Clearly the cancellation of large public events has been identified as a means to avoid large scale exposure that may allow the spread of the virus to accelerate. What the implications are for the golf industry and golf events is not yet clear. We don't have a definitive policy position yet from Golf Australia to advise clubs, nor from government agencies or health authorities on the implications for amateur sport such as golf. We are monitoring the situation as it unfolds and we will formulate an SGA position with the information we have and keep you informed via info in our emails to customers and on the Social Golf Australia (SGA) Facebook page.
