25.01.2022 Some new special guests have recently arrived from Valhalla Helicopters Inc. Shipped over from Canada and reassembled, these helicopters are now ready for the Australian bushfire season ahead. They spend half the year in each hemisphere fighting fires on opposite sides of the globe.



24.01.2022 As you may be aware, NSW has temporarily shut its border with Victoria to contain the spread of COVID-19. The closure became effective from 12.01am Wednesday, 8 July 2020. Shellharbour City Council will continue to abide by NSW Government regulations regarding the arrival and departure of flights from Shellharbour Airport. 23.01.2022 We are on our way to a new airport terminal with the concrete base now finished! The new terminal will have provisions for retail and cafe space, and capacity for 200 passengers. It is expected to be completed in December this year, with an official opening early 2021.

The announcement comes after Fly Corporate entered a Grant Agreement with the Federal Government to provide a minimum weekly schedule to all the regional ports it serviced prior to the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The truck & motorbike convoy, as well as the free family fun day here at the Airport will no longer be going ahead, but there will be a Convoy Television special to keep an eye out for! We can't wait to see what's install!

05.01.2022 Today, Qantas celebrates 100 years! To mark the occasion, a B787-9 (flight number QFA100) will be undertaking a special fly-over of Shellharbour Airport at approximately 7pm. Departing Sydney the aircraft will fly south off the coastline, before descending to approximately 1500 FT across Port Kembla before overflying Shellharbour Airport. ... The aircraft will then head out over the ocean before making a second past over the Illawarra and departing to the North-East. The airport will not be open to the public for viewing the flyover, but there will be plenty of vantage points across the Illawarra including Port Kembla, Yallah, Blackbutt and Mount Warrigal. 04.01.2022 Works to resurface the runway are now complete, marking an exciting milestone in our major upgrades project! Works began in late April and provided much-needed jobs for locals with 35 people working on the runway at the peak of construction, not including Council Staff. Approximately, 6,500 tonnes of asphalt was used! The concrete slab of the new terminal building is scheduled to be poured later this month... stay tuned for progress updates! ... She also flew the first operational mission of the Vietnam War, delivering food and medical supplies to refugees fleeing the fighting. ...
