22.01.2022 To all our Simply patients and families As we come to the end of five weeks of strict lockdown, we hope everybody is staying well in this very difficult time. We feel for our friends and families and the difficulties they are facing with the lockdown measures and home-schooling. We were disappointed to hear the Premiers announcement that dentistry and orthodontics will remain at a restricted level for the foreseeable future. We are not sure when the restrictions will be lif...ted, but it is possible that this could be for an extended time. In the meantime, please be aware we are offering emergency appointments for any patients that require them. If you are in pain or discomfort, please call the practice to request an appointment. We want you to know that we are there for you and will offer you as much support as we can. For any patients who have appointments scheduled from the 14th September, our office will contact you a week out from your appointment to advise of any changes. Due to the number of patients to be rescheduled, we ask that you wait for us to contact you. We are grateful for your patience and understanding. 20.01.2022 To our Simply Orthodontics family, We hope everybody is well and taking care of each other during this tumultuous time which has seen unprecedented changes to the way we live our lives. Coronavirus is having an impact on all dental and orthodontic practices nationwide. We are monitoring the situation very carefully and are currently operating as normal. However, strict protocols are being implemented by health and government agencies and this is likely to impact future opera...tions. In the meantime, we are taking measures to ensure yours and our staffs safety: 1. Our stringent sterilisation and cleaning procedures go beyond the recommended protocol. 2. In addition to this, our reception and clinical staff have increased the frequency of Common Area wipe downs with hospital grade disinfectant regularly throughout the day in the reception and clinical areas. 3. We ask that all patients upon entering the practice wash their hands. We know washing hands with soap is the best way to keep yourself and others safe. 4. We ask that you call to reschedule your appointment if any of the following apply: a. If you have ANY of these symptoms: fever, dry persistent cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, muscle aches b. Travelled to ANY overseas destination within the last 14 days c. Had close contact with someone diagnosed with or suspected of having coronavirus Thank you for your understanding. We understand the worry and angst for all our families, and we wish to reassure you that we are working hard to ensure our patients are cared for during this time. As the incidence of coronavirus continues to increase in our community, there have been some changes to the guidelines in which we are allowed to operate. The Australian Dental Association and governing bodies have significantly limited the majority ...of dental and orthodontic procedures that can be undertaken. For the safety of our staff and patients, we have taken the difficult decision to temporarily defer orthodontic appointments from 31st March. If you have an appointment scheduled after 31st March, our office will contact you directly to reschedule your appointment. We are hopeful that we will resume our normal schedule from 27th April, but this will depend heavily on government directives. Our reception will remain open to ensure that you are well supported during this difficult time. 10.01.2022 As you may have heard, the restrictions on elective surgeries and dental procedures will be lifted from 27th April. This is exciting news, as it means that the practice will be open for orthodontic care from that date. We are taking special measures to ensure the social distancing policies are maintained. Some of these include; limiting the number of operators at each clinic so that only one orthodontist will be present at either our Sunbury or Sydenham clinics, utilising on...ly certain clinical chairs to maintain a greater distance between patients and ensuring our exceptionally stringent sterilisation and cleaning procedures are maintained. The schedule has also been changed to ensure social distancing is maintained in the reception area and to allow our staff to clean thoroughly between patients. We are grateful to our patients for their understanding throughout these difficult times. Our reception is working very hard to reschedule patients at short notice. The rules and regulations regarding dental practices have been changing regularly and with minimal notice, making scheduling a very difficult undertaking. As has been the policy of the practice for the past two months, if you have had any flu-like symptoms over the past 2 weeks, such as a fever, persistent cough, runny nose or a sore throat, we ask that you reschedule your appointment at least two weeks after the symptoms subside. If you, or any close friends or family have been diagnosed with coronavirus, we would ask that you reschedule your appointment for at least two weeks after subsidence of symptoms. As of the time of writing, we are open and scheduled appointments are proceeding as normal. However, the situation is very likely to change as the government directive is changing at a rapid rate.... To maintain the high safety for our staff and patients, we must follow the governments recommendations regarding social distancing. 03.01.2022 We hope you are all keeping well during this time. It is reassuring to see that the social distancing measures are starting to show results with the recent flattening of the curve. Although there is no place for complacency, there is definitely a positive trend in the reduction of cases around Australia. Despite this, health officials are still recommending that dental and orthodontic practices remain closed for routine appointments at this stage. It is possible that the t...emporary closure may remain in place for several months, as authorities want to keep tight control of the virus spread. With the potential for a prolonged temporary closure, we are taking measures to help our patients through this difficult time: 1. Our clinics in Sunbury and Sydenham are available for emergency treatments at certain times. Patients who are in pain/discomfort, have suffered a trauma or have lost or broken a retainer may phone the office to arrange an emergency visit. 2. Our reception remains open 8-5, Monday to Friday and are available for any patient queries or concerns. 3. Our Orthodontists and Hygienists are undertaking virtual appointments- recalls, appliance checks, retainer checks and braces checks to ensure your treatment is progressing. Our office will contact you a week prior to your scheduled appointment to schedule a new time with your Orthodontist or Hygienist. The appointment will be done remotely and a link will be sent to your email so you may log-in for the virtual appointment. 4.Our Orthodontists are undertaking virtual consults for new patients. If you have any family members or friends that may be interested in a complementary virtual consultation, please let them know to contact us. We will continue to keep you up-to-date as to what is happening in the practice and any developments relating to the eventual return to our normal clinical schedule.
