23.01.2022 Having endured years of injuries while exercising, dislocating knee caps, it’s great to see Tom so much more confident, strong and controlled through all of his lower body drills, especially this one. The goal is to consistently improve the quality of the movement and his control of hip and knee on the way back down to the floor. By building up his confidence in eccentric strength first, we have seen great improvements across all areas of his lower body strength work, with l...ess paranoia about knee injury. Great work mate, love your progress! #movement #health #performance #trainsmart #liveactive #strength #fitness #rehab #glutes #rehab #prehab #balance
23.01.2022 MONDAY MOVEMENT DRILL - Similar to last week but now we are adding load to the movement. Once we have the technique through the hips for this exercise, adding load will challenge core and glutes even more. Using a light weight here but shifting the load through gravity, rather than just the standard lifting against gravity. This not only challenges your strength, but also your ability to maintain good posture as the load moves further away from you. For functional strength and also health of connective tissue, sometimes it's good to develop strength and length, rather than just when shortening muscles.
23.01.2022 Final week of our INSIGHT PROGRAM with the team @raywhitegroup . It’s been a pleasure to work with such a positive and forward thinking company, who really do value the importance of their teams health, and the togetherness and unity the challenge has created. Oh and not forgetting of course how competitive everyone is with each other! Testing week next week folks.... #fitness #corporatewellness #teamwork #movement #health #performance #challenge #healthylifestyle #wellness
22.01.2022 The team working hard and getting back into the swing of things. @mattsmethod just correcting technique, not slacking at all.... #movement #health #performance #trainsmart #liveactive #fitness #strength #bondi
22.01.2022 MONDAY MOVEMENT - It's fair to say that we love a bit of glute action at Strength in Motion! Essentially though, a high percentage of people exercise and train at high intensity, with very little involvement from their glutes, which more often than not leads to injuries. Here the goal is to put the hip into a position where the muscles should be working, to give them the best chance of coming on and learning how to do their job. We are trying to reorganise the team, so they can all perform their roles effectively in synergy with the rest! The plate shift and rotation slightly increases hip internal rotation, causing lateral hip stabilisers to load at length even more, and then react back to the top position.
21.01.2022 Are we too focused on power and speed in our training programs? What are the effects on the body if we over train these principles?
21.01.2022 Our Academy program teaches young athletes best practice exercise technique and a positive, professional approach to their training. Be inspired and speak one of our coaches: http://bit.ly/3915dzE
21.01.2022 MONDAY MOVEMENT SERIES - After the weekend its always important to get moving again on a Monday, so every week we will be showcasing a different movement focused exercise, and the reasons why we use it. Kicking off the series with a nice functional mobility drill, the goal here is to learn how to move at the hips while reducing compensation and rounding of the lower back. We need to find the right angles to sit into the hips, so glutes and hip stabilizers can work effectively. Try to think about relaxing muscles on the trail leg, efficient movement has a lot to do with turning muscles on and off and the right time, not just how hard we can work our muscles.
20.01.2022 Brain training today for @giuliafaggion can you remember the whole routine??? Sometimes we need to work on mental endurance as part of our development. We put this in towards the end of the session to challenge memory and movement efficiency whilst fatigued. Turns out shes got the skills! ... #trainsmart #liveactive #health #movement #performance #fitness #strength #strengthinmotion
19.01.2022 Should I move? Should I train strength? What about core? Should I lift weights? What about my glutes? ... Should I stretch? Should I work on my mobility? The answer is yes! You need to look at all these things for optimal health and enhanced performance. Understanding how to incorporate the right amount of each for what YOUR body needs is the hard part. We like doing what we are good at, and what we think is right, but sometimes you need to challenge the way you approach your training, to break through barriers and achieve sustainable results. What do you think you need? #trainsmart #liveactive #strengthinmotion #health #fitness #movementculture
17.01.2022 Reaction time, coordination and power drill with @maxencedp that also elevates heart rate pretty quickly and more importantly is just good fun as well! We could of done burpees I suppose but where is the fun in those?? More importantly what is the point? Theatrical finish from Max and he dropped it!!... #trainsmart #liveactive #movement #health #performance #athlete #athleticperformance #wearshoesnexttime #hesurvived

17.01.2022 Hip flexors stretches are often performed incorrectly. To target the Psoas (largest hip flexor muscle) more effectively, its actually important to try and lengthen the spine and gradually open the joint. Rather than just see how far forward we can push our hips Check out this video for a more effective technique!
17.01.2022 Different locations, different movements, different equipment, different clients but same motivation and attitude.... Move well, move differently and move often. Challenge your strength balance and coordination every session. Some times easier movements, sometimes more complex, but always learning and practising movement. 15.01.2022 We spend a lot of time with all clients, training these angles, not just for acceleration purposes, but also how to safely decelerate, absorb force and teach people how to recruit posterior chain effectively, great video.
15.01.2022 MONDAY MOVEMENT - This drill is a great way to restore a bit of spring in your step! The goal here is to liven up the nervous system a bit as well as restoring some elasticity and recoil to your muscles and fascia. Use as part of your warm up and movement preparation routine after your mobility work. Helps to elevate the heart rate, and get the body livened up for exercise or just the day ahead! Start with shorter bursts and build up as you get more used to it. ... It also just feels good too!
15.01.2022 Fantastic to see such amazing progress during our recent INSIGHT corporate health challenge with the team @raywhitegroup Robert was just one of the many dedicated and committed team that saw some great results over the program. this wasn’t a weight loss challenge, or a summer shred program. It was about teaching a balanced approach to training and adapting lifestyle progressively over time.... It’s great to see such progress and results, not just from Robert but from across the whole team. It’s been a pleasure working with you all! #corporatewellness #movement #health #performance #strength #healthylifestyle #findbalance #healthfirst #fitness #insight
15.01.2022 Whats more important? Movement or muscles? Is your training finding an efficient way to coordinate and train your brain as a system or are you just focused on purely building muscles? Which is more important?

14.01.2022 MONDAY MOVEMENT CHALLENGE - Here’s a drill that will definitely challenge your balance, coordination and give you some serious glute and quad burn if done right! We find that quite often, people don’t focus on single leg hip hinge mechanics until they are injured. It's only then that they notice a massive imbalance in mobility, stability and control from side to side. We will always have a slightly stronger and more coordinated side, but focusing on reducing the disparity between them is a key part of any strength and conditioning program, to reduce injury risk, not just recover from injury.
13.01.2022 Sometimes laughter is the best medicine! Especially when Dr Mike paid no attention to the exercise demonstration! Luckily he’s creative and came up with his own drill! Move, smile, laugh, fun sessions can lift the soul in many ways, both of the client and instructor.... #trainsmart #liveactive #movement #health #performance #vipr #strength #healthylifestyle #fitness #wellness #mentalhealth
12.01.2022 It’s fair to say that we push Dave pretty hard, sometimes he can be a little dramatic but he always gives 110% effort in every training session. He’s made fantastic progress over the last year and we have had a lot of fun in the sessions. Looking forward to more progress next year mate, thanks for entertaining us all, and positive vibes throughout!... #bigdave #strength #health #movement #performance #fitness #thechairman #summershred

11.01.2022 Weve been socially distancing for years! You have to when chucking a #vipr #macebell or #kettlebell around..... 11.01.2022 Are we actually training like athletes? Weve all seen the motivational videos, cool exercises and high intensity regimes. But how much time is actually spent on injury prevention and recovery? What do athletes really focus on for 70% of their training?
11.01.2022 Even international softball umpires have to work on their movement and strength. 10.01.2022 Movement is more than mobility, we need to learn to create stiffness quickly in both simple and complex patterns, whilst maintaining movement and balance. Sequencing how muscles turn on and off, both statically and dynamically, greatly effects how efficient are movements are, but also how much effort they take and the energy demands of those efforts. Learning these patterns can be hard at first, but lead to better performance, more efficient use of energy and reduced injury risk. #trainsmart #liveactive #strengthinmotion #health #healthylifestyle #fitness #strength #movement

09.01.2022 Well I could blame it on the humidity or air con up here in @hamiltonisland but truth is I actually really enjoyed a high intensity training session! Rested and recharged after a few days on holiday felt great to really smash out a session. Obviously getting a few strange looks in the gym with some trademark SIM exercises, looking forward to tomorrows session! 08.01.2022 Its no doubt we are all sitting down more then we would like too. Long periods seated, piled on with some stress and rushing out of the gym, our lower backs very quickly begin to take the load. Give this stretch a go to break up your day or even to begin your training session!
07.01.2022 This drill is designed to improve hip mobility and movement quality. It’s also a good way to screen for imbalances from left to right and understand which side needs more focus in your mobility routine!
06.01.2022 Posterior chain activation, coordination and strength. This drill is great for learning how to quickly coordinate hips spine and shoulders, firing up glutes hamstring core and lats quickly, creating total body tension, an controlling back down. For some people finding the right position and alignment is more of a challenge than the lift itself, so using different drills and teaching people to be body aware, is priority over reps and load at first.... #trainsmart #liveactive #strengthinmotion #fitness #health #strength #athlete #movement #health #performance
06.01.2022 Playing with grandchildren is a joy for any grandparent, but getting up and down from the floor can sometimes be a bit tricky. 06.01.2022 Are we actually training like athletes? We’ve all seen the motivational videos, cool exercises and high intensity regimes. But how much time is actually spent on injury prevention and recovery? What do athletes really focus on for 70% of their training?
05.01.2022 This drill is designed to improve hip mobility and movement quality. Its also a good way to screen for imbalances from left to right and understand which side needs more focus in your mobility routine!
04.01.2022 With so much focus on generating power and speed, absorbing force safely and effectively is often overlooked. @maxencedp here working hard on his movements, force absorption in first drill, creating tension and softness at the same time to help maintain balance, creating a solid platform to react from. Recovering from an ankle injury, its important for max to add in these types of challenges, the ball toss is different each time and stimulates the CNS to deliver a co-ordina...ted response, teaching the body how to react as a unit. Second drill focusing on creating tension at length, coordinating hips, lower back, legs and arms, to resist tension and prevent flexion and rotation at lower back. If you want to be athletic, you need to teach your body how to be....
04.01.2022 How often do you change your program, move differently or challenge yourself in a new way? Is it better to always do what we are good at or challenge ourselves with different training principles and movement patterns?
03.01.2022 MONDAY MOVEMENT - Push up variation that requires a good amount of hip mobility, flexibility, core stability and general coordination. Rather than doing this as quick as you can, try to go slowly with control and move at the right places. Sometimes slowing things down is more beneficial and will still get your heart rate up all the same. Try this for 90 seconds and you’ll see what i mean!
02.01.2022 MONDAY MOVEMENT - Ok ok, it's a plank so maybe not a movement, but as we move it's important to teach muscles to react to different loads and teach our body to stabilise quickly against those forces. The goal of planks usually is to see how long we can hold them for, but our core muscles need to learn to come on and off reactively, not always just lock out for long periods of time to burn. This variation we focus on finding a good position and alignment of the spine, and challenge the core to work harder reactively by reducing stability as we reach out in front. Challenge yourself by changing distance between you and the bell, not just by performing 2000 reps.
02.01.2022 Setting personal bests and lifting heavy loads is all about incremental progression and dedication to consistent practise of excellent technique. When you focus on form and quality of movement as a prerequisite for excessive load, you give yourself the best chance of lifting strong and safe. You don’t need to be practising 1rep Max or maximal strength lifts every session. But building solid form every time you lift is essential. ... Great work here from @andyg3.14 Aidan and Dan, under the watchful eye of Josh Allen. #trainsmart #liveactive #movement #health #performance #fitness #strength #strengthandconditioning #athlete #deadlift
