25.01.2022 Thank you for your PATIENCE and UNDERSTANDING during the process of establishing Small Steps 4 Hannah. This has been challenging for us but we are very lucky to have some amazing people who have been working endlessly behind the scenes to help us create a legacy for Hannah, Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey. Good news is coming!

24.01.2022 Earlier today SS4H and the Australian Red Cross - Emergency Services Queensland handed over the hundreds of toys that were generously donated by the community to Care Kits for Kids Qld. The toys, cards and messages from the Vigil were collected by the Red Cross who preserved the cards and messages and presented this to Sue and Lloyd. The toys will help fill backpacks for children in need and the family have been truly overwhelmed by how many toys, cards and messages were ...left with the toys. Donating the toys forward brings the family great comfort to be able to bring happiness and love to some more children particularly at this time of the year. Thanks again to the Australian Red Cross - ESQ and @crfionacunningham for your help

23.01.2022 Thank you so much!

23.01.2022 Six months on from the terrible events of February 19, Hannah Clarke’s family and their supporters have made significant progress in their work of establishing a charitable foundation in her name to help reduce domestic violence. Small Steps for Hannah Foundation Executive Chair Laura Bos said the organisation had developed its strategic plan and had decided on its twin goals of educating the community about family violence and funding project to reduce its prevalence. Ms Bos... also announced that Lady Mayoress Nina Schrinner had agreed to be the Foundation’s inaugural Patron. Hannah’s dreadful murder shocked Australia, and made the community say that enough was enough as far as domestic and family violence was concerned, Ms Bos said. The Small Steps for Hannah Foundation has been established to turn that community grief and outrage into a lasting and positive movement for change. Hannah’s family always remembers her as a positive and determined person who believed that everyone could be their best selves. We want to create a Foundation that draws on that positivity to help make a better society. And we are delighted that the Lady Mayoress has accepted the family’s invitation to become the Patron. Her support will give the Foundation credibility and help drive us towards our goals over the next six months. Hannah’s parents Lloyd and Sue said the Clarke family had been overwhelmed by the love and support Australians had shown them over the last six months, and hoped the Foundation would become a vehicle for harnessing that sentiment in the years Hannah, Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey weren’t the first people to experience controlling, manipulative and, ultimately, lethal abuse in a family environment, and sadly they won’t be the last, Mr/s Clarke said. We hope that that Foundation in the years ahead will help both victims and perpetrators to take small steps towards understanding and then eliminating controlling behaviour and violence in personal relationships. Hannah would very much approve of the Foundation’s goals, and would be so touched that so many people want to keep her memory alive and build a better, safer and happier world in the process. 20.01.2022 A brilliant night was had last night at the BCAN Christmas Drinks. It was a great way to raise funds for Small Steps 4 Hannah and to celebrate the year that was. Over 80 communications and corporate affairs professionals attend, and it was great to see so many people reconnect with former colleagues and contacts they had not seen for years.... It was a real treat to celebrate our government advocacy win on coercive control legislation review and reform with Government Relations professionals who know only too well how hard that is to achieve. Special thanks to U&U for backing the event. You are rock stars!

20.01.2022 September 8 is Hannah’s birthday. And while today, we won’t be sharing cake with the her and the kids, we will be celebrating her amazing life and her ongoing presence that lives with us. Birthdays are a time for reflection and it seems apt that today we open a park memorial in her honour. It too is a place of reflection. ... Today is still, and always will be, a celebration of a beautiful life.

19.01.2022 Let’s put the KID’S SAFETY FIRST in family law. SMALL STEPS 4 HANNAH was established as a way for some ‘GOOD’ to come out of the worst possible situation that any family should face arising out of a domestic and family violence situation. While we are not a political organisation, we intend to advocate for positive change to ensure that anyone experiencing domestic and family violence is safe.... When a couple is going through the family court system, children’s safety must be paramount. Our three precious babies weren’t. And that’s why we are supporting this Bill and urge you to show your support and sign this petition for the removal of the presumption of equal shared parental responsibility in the Family Law Act. The presumption of equal shared parental responsibility (ESPR) in family law shifts the focus of decision makers away from child safety and the best interests of children. With up to 85% of family court matters involving domestic and family violence, presuming parents should have contact puts children at risk. KIDS SAFETY SHOULD ALWAYS COME FIRST IN FAMILY LAW. Follow this link to the petition - https://womenslegalservice.good.do//putkidssafetyfirstinf/

19.01.2022 The Clarke Family are grateful for this wonderful tribute to Hannah, Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey. A huge thank you to Councillor Fiona Cunningham and The Brisbane City Council.

18.01.2022 Our team are so grateful that we have been able to support local charity Beyond DV and their clients.

18.01.2022 Yesterday we sorted through all the beautiful toys and treasures that were left at the vigil site back in February. Thank you to Councillor Fiona Cunningham for your time and office space and a big thank you also to the Australian Red Cross - Emergency Services Queensland who collated everything from the vigil. Hannah loved kids so the toys will be donated forward to Care Kits for Kids Qld.

17.01.2022 Beyond DV is just one of the organisations that Small Steps 4 Hannah is supporting next year, along with Blue Light and some other powerful projects in the pipeline. We will be calling for submissions from other organisations who work in the DFV space early in the new year to ensure projects that will make a difference to the lives of Queenslanders can be championed and funded. We always have a ‘soft spot’ for the work of White Ribbon and we’re happy to get behind this proje...ct in Brisbane. White Ribbon Australia Beyond DV

16.01.2022 Its evident through the messages we are receiving that these 4 BEAUTIFUL souls touched SOO many and filled hearts with happiness and inspiration. They meant so much to us and it’s beautiful to see how much they meant to so many of you. It was 4 months ago that our lives were torn apart. They say that time heals all wounds, but all it's done so far is give us more time to think about how much we miss you Hannah, Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey!

15.01.2022 We are pleased to see that the government has announced a new inquiry into family, domestic and sexual violence

13.01.2022 Thank you Fiona. This is beautiful

12.01.2022 An outstanding piece of journalism in The Guardian today, clearly setting out the case for coercive control laws. We will be ensuring this is seen and read by those in positions of power to make the change we need. https://www.theguardian.com//lloyd-and-sue-clarke-coercive

11.01.2022 Sorry we have been a little distant on our social media lately. Now the restrictions have been relaxed, we have taken the opportunity to spend some much needed time with loved ones and tried to enjoy activities we haven’t been able to do in months. It has been an extremely hard road and today is one of the harder days as it marks 5 MONTHS since our world collapsed - our feelings are still very raw and we miss them so much. ... I would LOVE it if everyone could comment a happy quote on this post for my beautiful family to read....The strength and courage they have shown this past 5 months is a true inspiration to so many.. I for one am so proud of them!

11.01.2022 For those interested in learning how to support friends or family living with DFV this is a terrific opportunity to learn some signs, tips and techniques from our colleagues at The Allison Baden-Clay Foundation and MATE Bystander program. They’ll also explore how being active as bystanders in the community is a part of reducing DFV. These organisations deliver clinically based, well-researched and very practical programs on things we don’t think about until it’s nearly too late - eg what to do if you are concerned a friend or family member is experiencing DFV.

09.01.2022 Small Steps 4 Hannah is delighted to be supporting this initiative. Suzanne Clarke has a powerful message to share with young girls about the red flags that signal a dangerous relationship.

08.01.2022 Happy Birthday Gorgeous Boy Trey loved playing dinosaurs, he had a great imagination, was always chasing his sisters around and adored his mummy. He loved all of his family dearly! Your family and friends miss you beyond measure little munchkin! Love you Trey

08.01.2022 When Madonna King first approached us to write this story, she spoke to us of wanting to write a powerful piece that brought national attention to coercive control through Hannah’s story. Madonna wanted to support our call for change. THIS is powerful and another outstanding piece of journalism. Thank you so much Madonna. Thank you to Hannah’s dearest friends for having the courage to retell this incredibly sad story and to all others mentioned and interviewed in here, inclu...ding Rowan’s son, who have shared their journey with Madonna. And of course, Lloyd and Sue Clarke. Again, your grace and thoughtfulness is at the forefront of leading this change. It’s a long story as it should be. Coercive control doesn’t happen in one incident. We urge you to read it:)

06.01.2022 Walk for Hannah about to get underway! @smallsteps4hannah

01.01.2022 Today is a bittersweet day. Today Hannah Clarke would have turned 32. Today, together with her parents and brother, and the Lord Mayor, I unveiled a special pr...oject I’ve been working on. It’s called Hannah’s Place. It’s not only for Hannah, Aaliyah, Laianah and Trey. It’s for all victims of domestic and family violence. A place to reflect. To gather courage and to be brave. A place to support each other. But above all, I hope our community finds some peace and happiness here. @smallsteps4hannah @brisbane.lordmayor #hannahsplace #hannahclarke #camphill #youaremissed #dedication #brisbane
