25.01.2022 More rehearsal photos from The Laramie Project. Buy your tickets now at http://www.horshamtownhall.com.au/hthe/the-laramie-project/ and be part of a really important theatrical event in our community. April 17 and 18 at the Horsham Town Hall Theatre.

25.01.2022 The multi-talented Carl Gasparini portrays several characters including the owner of The Fireside Bar, an actor from Tectonic Theatre, a rancher, and a young friend of Aaron McKinney.

24.01.2022 Amy Anselmi, director of The Laramie Project, has approached her role with thoughtfulness, passion and insight, intelligently and gently guiding the cast to reach her vision. In her own words, I just think its the most perfect piece of theatre. The simplicity of it, the juxtaposition of the words spoken by the real people affected by Matthews murder, and the way it doesnt hammer you over the head with the tragedy. Theres space in the play for people to really have their own experience of it. Its a play that treats its audience as intelligent, thinking people.

24.01.2022 Jonny Dutaillis is part of the ensemble cast of The Laramie Project. After studying and working professionally as an actor, Jonny turned his talents to working with the next generation of actors and makers as a Drama and Media teacher at Horsham College.

23.01.2022 Laramie, Wyoming. Remind you of anywhere? Like Horsham, Laramie is a large-ish rural city whose residents comprise farmers/ranchers, town residents, and people employed by the hospital, university and schools.

22.01.2022 Smart Artz Theatre Inc are looking for two sponsors for our upcoming production of The Laramie Project. If you are interested or know of a local business that would be interested please contact Luke Mitton via [email protected]

20.01.2022 Please keep buying your tickets for The Laramie Project. The Town Hall Theatre doesnt hold more than 500 people, so we dont count as a mass gathering. We understand peoples concerns and we support the measures put in place by the Town Hall to minimize the risk to audience members, ie. more frequent cleaning, hand sanitizer available, etc. The show is coming together incredibly well, and we cant wait to share it with you!

18.01.2022 Simon Risson was drawn to The Laramie Project for its potential to start meaningful conversations about compassion and acceptance. Simons myriad contributions to the Horsham community were recently recognized with a 2020 Citizen of the Year award.

18.01.2022 The Laramie Project cast member Madeline Dymke plays a diverse range of characters, from an Islamic feminist, a university professor and the grandmother of one of the murderers of Matthew Shepard. Madeline brings her extensive experience and skill in acting and radio broadcast to each of her characters.

17.01.2022 Weve been running Act 1 and 2 this week. Act 2 begins with the descent of the worlds media on the town of Laramie, and the varied reactions of the community to Matthews beating. My favourite moment in Act 2 is the vigil - we reenact the candlelight vigils held for Matthew as he lay comatose in hospital. Were using real photos from actual vigils held across the US, and a song by Tori Amos that she dedicated to Matthew on her 1998 tour. Act 3 mainly deals with the trials and sentencing of the perpetrators, who were "local kids that everybody in this town has some kind of relationship to", and with the way in which the crime changed Laramie itself. Have you got your tickets yet?

16.01.2022 Join the TEN MILLION PEOPLE who have seen The Laramie Project in 20 countries and 13 languages. https://www.americantheatre.org//the-enduring-legacy-of-l/ Tickets available at http://www.horshamtownhall.com.au/hthe/the-laramie-project/. April 17 and 18 at 8pm. Tickets $30/25.

14.01.2022 A full run of Act 1 at rehearsal tonight.

14.01.2022 We did the scene today where Romaine Patterson (played by Catherine Bates) organises the angel action counter-protest at Matthews funeral. When she learns that Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church (an American church known for its inflammatory hate speech) will be picketing at the funeral, Romaine mobilises a group of angels whose giant fabric wings block Phelps as he speaks to the gathered crowd. These photos show the real Angel Action, and the real Reverend Fred Phelps. Learn more about Romaine and her angels here: http://eatromaine.com/1/laramie-angels.html. For background on the Westboro Baptist Church, you can start at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church.

14.01.2022 Were lucky to have the projection screen at our rehearsal venue in the Horsham College Drama studio to rehearse with our backdrop projections. The cast saw the images from the vigils held for Matthew Shepard for the first time this week.

13.01.2022 Laramie Project cast member Beau Ladlow is acutely interested in people, and in their motivations and ideas. Beau plays a Catholic priest, a police officer and a detective, amongst other characters. I asked Beau why he thought Horsham audiences should see The Laramie Project.

12.01.2022 Ethan Jolly brings an authentic perspective to the three characters he plays. Ethan has the incredible challenge of playing both of Matthew Shepards murderers. He has taken this on with sensitivity, as well as the courage to delve into the portrayal of two people who committed the most heinous of acts.

12.01.2022 Fiona Blair brings a wealth of experience to her characters in The Laramie Project. Alternatively conservative, radical, emotional and stoic, Fiona shines as an incredibly versatile actor.

11.01.2022 The cast of The Laramie Project transform into more than sixty different characters through the use of voice, gesture, posture and small costume items. We ran Act 1 again last night and added the projections provided to us by The Matthew Shepard Foundation. All photos in the show are of Laramie and surrounds. We also use real archival photos of the vigils that were held for Matthew across America and around the world.

09.01.2022 The Laramie Project team is following the Town Halls lead, so our April 17/18 season is going ahead as planned.

06.01.2022 The Laramie Project team is following the Town Hall’s lead, so our April 17/18 season is going ahead as planned.

06.01.2022 Larissa Riddell returns to her first love - acting - as a cast member in The Laramie Project. Larissa is well known in Horsham as a passionate, entertaining and relatable educator of young actors.

06.01.2022 Director Amy Anselmi and producer Luke Mitton with the cast of The Laramie Project, Alayna Toporzisek, Catherine Bates, Jonny Dutaillis, Fiona Blair, Simon Risson, Jayden Robertson, Larissa Riddell, Carl Gasparini, Ethan Jolly, Madeline Dymke and Beau Ladlow.

03.01.2022 Thanks Tom Miatke (design) and Lynne McKenzie (photos) for our beautiful poster. Look out for them around town!

02.01.2022 Snap up your tickets to The Laramie Project at http://www.horshamtownhall.com.au/hthe/the-laramie-project/ or by visiting the box office or phoning 5382 9555.

02.01.2022 Catherine Bates, another one of our 2020 Citizens of the Year (Hindmarsh Shire) approaches all her characters with empathy and understanding, which is not an easy task as an actor when playing someone whose views differ so radically from ones own.

02.01.2022 The Laramie Project cast member Alayna Toporzisek is better known as a dancer, but her foray into acting is both heartfelt and committed to this important story.
