24.01.2022 As the last of the state’s fire restrictions are lifted today, we officially mark the end of our fire season. It was a challenging season for all Victorians, a...nd the total burnt area across the state was the highest since the Black Friday fires of 1939. We thank all Victorians for their ongoing support and encouragement, throughout this season and into the future.

16.01.2022 CFA has received a number of calls from community members regarding bonfires to mark the ‘Spark in the Dark’ event this evening. We appreciate those who are tha...nking our frontline workers, but urge you to keep fire safety front of mind. As today’s conditions are windy in some areas we are urging those who wish to participate to not do so by lighting bonfires or using fire pits. If you are choosing to light a candle, please ensure it is monitored by an adult and extinguished properly. You might like to mark the event by using a torch or outside light. Thank you and stay safe.

13.01.2022 Only 1 more sleep until Santa visits the communities of Smythesdale, Scarsdale & Ross Creek. Santa will be commencing at 6.00pm and will aim to be moving through the check points as close to the schedule as possible. As long as you are on one of the marked roads on the maps attached you will have the chance to see Santa up close. Please be out the front prior to the time listed so you don’t miss Santa. ... Adults, please ensure you supervise your children and don’t allow them to run up to the fire truck until Santa’s helpers have safely parked. This year Santa will not be able to get off the truck but is still able to have photos and adhering to social distancing. We all look forward to seeing you tomorrow night! Each time the siren sounds it is to honour the Victoria Police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Kew a week ago at approximately that time. And during summer, just waiting for that next code one run. Rest In Peace Tim. Thank you for your service. You will be deeply missed by all at the brigade, and from the wider CFA community. ... Firefighters Prayer; When I am called to duty, God wherever flames may rage, give me strength to save a life, whatever be its age. Help me to embrace a little child before it's too late, or save an older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert to hear the weakest shout, and quickly and efficiently to put the fire out. I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me, to guard my neighbor and protect their property. And if according to your will I have to lose my life, bless with your protecting hand my loving family from strife.
