12.01.2022 LET'S START AT THE VERY BEGINNING! Meet our cast Introducing two stars of our upcoming musical, The Sound of Music at St Norbert College. Playing Maria Rainer is Brodie Christie and Captain Georg von Trapp is Dylan Magnussen. Brodie and Dylan are having a lot of fun developing their roles and we can't wait to share updates and cast bios and put your Sound of Music knowledge to the test! 05.01.2022 MEET THE CAST: Darcy Eyre as The Baroness Year 9 St Norbert College student Darcy Eyre has watched The Sound of Music at least 20 times. For her role as Frau Elsa Schräder, Darcy is developing her diction and practising songs with her vocal teacher . . . while having a fabulous time! What are you enjoying most about rehearsals? My favourite thing about rehearsals is the bond that forms between the cast during them. I also love to observe the progress that is made wit...h each rehearsal. It always astounds me when I compare the final performance of a show to the first rehearsal and how much improvement everyone makes along the way. What is the greatest challenge for you in your role? Elsa’s mannerisms and the way she deals with certain situations are quite different to my own so trying to make what she says and does look natural and instinctive proves a little difficult. How would you describe Elsa? As a dignified, sarcastic and elegant businesswoman, who is a widow, looking for a man to love her and admire her. She wants someone who will truly love her not just want her fortune and status. What is your favourite scene so far? When Elsa and Maria have a confrontation. Elsa is very sarcastic and nasty towards Maria and usually Maria lets it slide, but during this particular scene Maria stands up for herself and it is quite amusing. What are you most looking forward to about performing the Sound of Music in May? All of the happiness and excitement there will be among the cast and crew on opening night. Opening night is always so fun! What can the audience expect? An outstanding show filled with love, laughter, danger and spectacular music. How long have you been a Sound of Music fan? My family all know The Sound of Music well and all love it. When my mum was little it was one of the only movies her family had on VHS, so she ended up watching it so many times she learnt it off by heart. I would say I've seen the film around 20 times from the age of five onwards. I have grown up with this story. DARCY'S BIO SO FAR: Darcy began singing lessons in Year 3 and has always had an interest in musical theatre. In Year 7, Darcy joined the Junior Drama Club. She was a part of a performance troupe for three years, however all her singing and drama lessons at now here at St Norbert as part of her vocal scholarship. Darcy has performed in: 1. For Feet Sake, 2018 2. Around the World in 8 Plays, 2019 3 .Romeo to Go, 2019 All of these plays were part of the drama program at St Norbert College.
