Based on Tennis Victoria’s 'Return to Tennis Guidelines' released yesterday (12 May), this means:... Gatherings of no more than 10 people for singles or doubles play and small group coaching All activities must be on outdoor courts Clubhouse to remain locked at all times (the Club Coach is permitted to unlock the clubhouse to enable access to the toilets for coaching students where required). Association competition is not permitted. 18.01.2022 We are so pleased to be able to open the courts again! Here is Tennis Victoria's update based on today's announcements by Premier Daniel Andrew. We are as prepared as we can be to re-open and eagerly await Tennis Victoria's detailed Return to Tennis Guidelines as well as any specific instructions from our local Council. Time to dust off that tennis racquet!! We'll be in touch as soon as more information becomes available.

15.01.2022 Flashback to April of 1994, the opening of our clubhouse! Club life members Richard Carr, Len Williams and Geoff Griffiths were the driving force behind the clubhouse being built. 15.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE (Thursday 26 March): Somers Tennis Club to close temporarily .... With the continued escalation of social isolation measures in Victoria and following consultation with the tennis community and Government, Tennis Victoria is recommending that all tennis programs, coaching and social play cease until further notice. The COVID-19 infection rates vary substantially across all states and territories and as such the recommendation to cease tennis activity temporari...ly is for Victoria only at this stage. Tennis Australia will continue to work with the state tennis bodies to ensure compliance with the different Federal and State Government recommendations. From 6:30 pm today (Thu 26 March), Somers Tennis Club will be closed until further notice. As soon as health officials and Tennis Victoria have given the green light for tennis to resume in a safe way, we will let all members and the community know. In the meantime, please stay home and stay safe and we look forward to seeing you at Somers Tennis Club again soon. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation.

10.01.2022 Tennis Victoria has today provided an update on the Community Tennis Guidelines effective 11:59pm last night (Tuesday). In summary: * We are allowed a maximum of 10 participants per group and no more than 10 total at the venue at any one time, EXCEPT where a reasonable distance can be maintained at all times. Whilst a "reasonable distance" has not been defined by DHHS, Tennis Victoria interpret this as a minimum of 1.5m between participants. Doubles play with individuals from... more than two households is acceptable. We ask that you take a common sense approach to ensure groups are clearly separated. * People must still stay within 25km of their primary place of residence or workplace. Playing tennis competition is not a reason to travel beyond 25km. Please refer Tennis Victoria's update for further details. We look forward to seeing you at Somers Tennis Club! https://www.tennis.com.au//community-tennis-guidelines-upd

In Metropolitan Melbourne, anyone playing tennis must Get In. Play. Get Out. The facility must be used by players only, not spectators. We also recommend that everyone entering a facility is registered for tracking purposes we encourage you to download the COVIDSafe app and please complete the attendance register at the Club entrance. Further details can be found in Tennis Victoria’s 8 July Update and in the attached Guidelines. We understand that it is disappointing to have further restrictions placed upon us, but we must, of course, respect the public health directives and do our bit to help manage the COVID-19 pandemic. As a physical distancing sport, tennis is in a strong position to continue to provide exercise opportunities to assist the community to stay physically and mentally well during this challenging time. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Please stay safe during this challenging time.
