24.01.2022 This #WhiteRibbonDay, I encourage all Victorians to continue to stand up, speak out and act to prevent men’s violence against women. Particularly in light of the added hardship many women are facing due to the pandemic, this vital mission of ours cannot be understated. In Parliament last week I was honoured to stand up for victims of sexual assault and their families as our amendments passed to protect these families and allow them to speak openly about their loved ones. Yet... our efforts should extend to the underlying root cause as we aim to stamp out such violence for good. In the lead up to International Day for the Elimination of Violence against women, we need to stand together and make violence against women and children a man’s issue too. #StandUp #SpeakOut #WhiteRibbonAus

24.01.2022 Last night, the Victorian Labor Party voted down a motion of no confidence in the Andrews Government following the worst public policy failure in Victorian history. This vote is an endorsement by the Labor party of the failings of Daniel Andrews and his government that have directly resulted in the tragic deaths of 791 Victorians and the destruction of countless livelihoods. Every Victorian is paying the price for the catastrophic decisions of this government in response to... COVID-19. Whether it be the decision to hire private security to manage hotel quarantine, the decision to reject ADF support, the decision to run a contact tracing system using pen, paper and fax machines or the decision to impose the harshest and longest lockdown in the nation. Victoria is not in this situation because of bad luck but because we have a Premier that thinks he knows better, is too arrogant to ask for help and too stubborn to accept it when it is offered. Every Labor MP that voted against this motion has put their own job and that of the Premiers above the interests of their communities, despite a complete failure to take responsibility for the catastrophic decisions that have got us where we are. How can any Victorian have faith in a government that hides from its mistakes, blames others for its failings and forces ordinary Victorians to pay the price for its errors whilst patting itself on the back for a job well done? I and so many in our community have no confidence in this government and will remind all Victorians every day up to the ballot box.

20.01.2022 It’s time to move to a common sense position on masks in Victoria, and common sense dictates when you can’t socially distance - you wear a mask. If people are outside and if they're socially distanced, it doesn't make a lot of sense to have to force people to wear masks. We’re calling on the government to listen to the public health experts and ease some of the restrictions around masks.

17.01.2022 What do you think? Feel free to share. Year 12 exams are arguably the most stressful period in a young persons life leaving aside the additional challenges of 2020. Shouldn't we be trying to find ways to make it easier for them to sit exams not harder?
17.01.2022 Today’s announcement that the Glen Huntly & Neerim Rd level crossing removals will be finished in 2024 - two years after the next state election - is simply not good enough. These level crossings have been identified as some of the Melbourne’s most dangerous and congested, with the boom gates to be down for 82 percent of the time by 2022. Local residents and I have been calling for these crossings to go for years and Daniel Andrews must stop wasting time and get on with remo...ving these crossings now. https://www.facebook.com/southwickmp/videos/537120607076362/?vh=e&extid=0
16.01.2022 What do you think we need funded for Caulfield and Surrounds? #BUDGETREPLY This week, Victorians needed a budget that delivered jobs, hope and a clear path to recovery. For residents of Caulfield and surrounds, this budget is a missed opportunity to jump-start our local community through great projects like more funding for parks, sports facilities and open space, level crossing removals, a hospital redevelopment and upgrades for our local schools. ... Local residents, families and businesses need a real plan to get back on track. Today I outlined a positive Liberal alternative that would deliver the support and opportunity our community needs to be its best. Have your say below on what measures you would like to see from future budgets. #fightingforcaulfield #Budget2020
15.01.2022 Caulfield & Surrounds #BudgetUpdate $155 Billion on the taxpayer credit card and Nothing for our area. Nothing new for local schools other than already committed funding. ... Nothing for parks and open space including no funds to invest in caulfield racecourse reserve Thanks to the calls of local residents, some funding for a land management plan for Alfred Hospital but no real $$$ to deliver a real health and community response. instead of encouraging more electric vehicles to help the environment Labor are taxing them A new tax on casual employees and jobs This Budget spends big but delivers little locally. Our alternative plan is to build infrastructure, support jobs and get Victoria back to work. https://www.michaelobrien.com.au//2020/10/back-to-work-pla

12.01.2022 #WATCH As the Victorian Budget Looms, it is clear that we require much needed funding for our local primary schools. Caulfield Primary School, Caulfield Junior College, Caulfield South Primary School and Ripponlea Primary School are just some schools that are in desperate need of funding. Enrolments in these schools are growing, the buildings are old and portable classrooms are not the answer. As the budget approaches, I am calling for more comprehensive funding for our local schools. Given the difficult situations our schools have experienced during COVID, parents and kids are desperate for adequate facilities and a plan going forward. #Budget2020 #VictorianBudget #FundOurSchools
11.01.2022 #WATCH Proud to stand up for victims of sexual assault and their families and see Liberal Victoria amendments passed. Victims cannot and must not be silenced and now their voice has been protected. #LetUsSpeak #letusspeakvictoria

10.01.2022 The Bourke St Tragedy should never have happened. Today’s coroners report into the 2017 Bourke Street massacre shows a clear failure of leadership across police, courts and corrections enabled this horrendous crime to occur. Victoria has a legal system, not a justice system and the Premier must urgently address these failures and put community safety first.... Frontline police should not be left second guessing themselves and the Andrews Government must provide them the powers, resources and support they need to keep the community safe. Again, I pay my respects to the victims’ families and those affected by this tragedy.

06.01.2022 HAVE YOUR SAY Victoria has had 14 consecutive days of zero cases. Under the Roadmap, this was the trigger to go to the Final Step and ease restrictions.... But Daniel Andrews has changed his mind and said no. Do you think restrictions should be eased similar to the other states?

04.01.2022 ! Now more than ever, it’s time that Victoria had a scheme. We’re the in Australia without one. The Liberal Nationals want to get this done to clean up our environment, boost recycling and boost jobs.... But, the Andrews Labor Government wants to wait 3 more years to 2023, letting more plastic waste damage our environment. We say: ? 04.01.2022 Amazing how Labor can recall how many press conferences they’ve held but can’t recall who made important decisions that caused the 2nd wave and killed 800 people - Shame on you Daniel Andrews.

02.01.2022 The Bourke St Tragedy should never have happened. We have a broken justice system in Victoria which was highlighted today in the coroner’s report. The 9 recommendations must be implemented by Victoria Police and Daniel Andrews immediately. ... We must put community safety first and I again pay my respects to victims and their families.
