18.01.2022 This week 3W have worked on a Maths Inquiry around exploring whether there are equal quantities of all colours in a packet of m&ms.They used the strategies of Inquire, Collect Data and Represent and found out that the most popular colour is...... 17.01.2022 The Gap Neighbourhood Watch group appreciates that it is very important to ensure our youth feel safe where they live. We have joined the Bag Tag initiative, which will give our students easy, fast access to phone numbers for appropriate childrens welfare, well-being, and safety numbers in case they experience any safety issues on their way to and from school. Earlier on in the week Ms Carwardine was delighted to meet with Mrs Jo Ingram from Neighbourhood Watch Queensland ...who presented us with enough Bag Tags for every student. Many thanks for thinking of us and helping to keep our students safe.

16.01.2022 The Year 5 students enjoyed performing Taba Naba in Music classes this week. This is a childrens song that originated in the Torres Strait Islands. The song is accompanied by a sit-down dance where the dancers perform traditional movements corresponding to the lyrics.

14.01.2022 Year 3 are using the text Tuesday by David Weisner to explore ways authors use techniques like shot size, vertical camera angle and layout to influence the mood of the narrative. Today the students completed an innovation on the text, using pictures and annotations to explain their own version of this narrative. Well done Year 3, your creativity is AMAZING!!!!!!

13.01.2022 The clever Year 4s have been learning how to describe literal and inferred meaning connecting ideas in different texts.

12.01.2022 The Parents and Friends Meeting that is scheduled for next Wednesday, August 5 has been postponed. Our next meeting will instead be held on September 9, at 7.00pm. Given the current circumstances, we hope that postponing our meeting until September will allow us to be better placed to make any decisions. 11.01.2022 This week we are lead by the Excellence group. This virtue is all about being the best person WE can be. Anything that is worthwhile is hard work. Whether we are trying to be a better learner or a better friend, we have to put in effort to get results.

10.01.2022 In Year 5, the children have written prayers to the Holy Spirit and are now reading , writing and singing psalms. They have also been working hard to consolidate place value with thousandths in maths. Congratulations Year 5!

09.01.2022 Recently we reached out to residents of Regis Aged Care who have been isolated during recent times. As a way to build community, the Charity group have collected some beautiful cards made by students. These cards will be delivered to Regis and will certainly put a smile back on the faces of residents. Well done!

09.01.2022 This week the students have enjoyed working with a writer in residence. Dave Lowe is an award winning author and the students had the opportunity to learn some tips from him to improve their writing as well as work together to write our SPC 2020 picture book! The students are now busy editing their work in readiness for publication.

08.01.2022 A celebration of learning today for Year 2 with their Fairytale day! Lots of activities were enjoyed and even viewing an original of a classic fairytale Snow White! Thanks to all the mums and dads ( and maybe a grandma/grandpa or two) for help with all the lovely costumes.

08.01.2022 The Parents and Friends are excited to host the annual Children’s Christmas Stall next Friday, November 27, 2020. Children will have the opportunity to buy Christmas presents for family, friends and pets. On offer are a wide range of gifts, many of which have been kindly donated by our community. Plants in fun pots ... Handmade Christmas Decorations Pet toys Wooden puzzles Melanie Hardy Ceramics - Handmade Pottery made right here in The Gap Lip Balms Scrunches and headbands Tea and cup sets Body wash packs Stationery Packs Covered Journals and many more. Prices range from $1.00 to $8.00 A wish list has been developed and if the kids bring the list with them to the stall it will assist our helpers with their choices. This is especially helpful for the Preps and Year 1 children. It is attached to this email and some teachers may send home hard copies next week. Also please send the children with a bag to help take their goodies home.

08.01.2022 A little bit of EKKA today! Entry fee gold coin and the students got to wear free dress. Side show Alley featuring a Freddo and Chuppa Chup Stall.... Strawberry Ice creams on sale for all staff. Thanks to Mr Cotter for doing a wonderful job of Ekka convenor! And just like the Ekka there was lots of excitement, fun times and the odd lost pocket money! All money raised will be going to Mission Australia.
