14.01.2022 St John Who? St John Skin is a completely new skincare brand, so we thought we would share a little about our story and how we came to be. The Founder:... Courtenay, an ex flight attendant who travelled the globe with 2 leading international airlines in the Middle East and Australia, hung up his wings to pursue his true passion: skincare. Spending 1500 hours per year in a pressurised and dry aircraft cabin lead to a unique skincare journey. How does one treat dryness, redness, breakouts, wrinkles, oiliness, and flakiness all at the same time? We wish we had the answer but what he discovered was the best treatment was with simple, natural and synthetic chemical free products that were gentle yet effective. From sampling 100s of designer skincare products from the sprawling halls of airport duty free shops, one thing became evident: synthetic chemicals were everywhere! Whether they be petrochemicals, sulphates, phthalates, parabens or synthetic fragrances and dye, they are completely unnecessary but are so prevalent in the beauty industry. The Vision: To create simple, gentle and effective Australian made botanical skincare products with no synthetic chemicals, that are 100% vegan and not tested on animals. The formulations were chosen to feature potent Australian native plant extracts such as Jacaranda, Davidson Plum, Lemon Aspen, Lemon Myrtle, Native Snowflower and Kakadu Plum. These have anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing and hydrating properties. To represent this vision, we chose our packaging to be natural amber glass and recyclable PET plastic, and a calming deep blue tone on our labels. Our design will compliment a modern bathroom and add a touch of class and serenity to it. The Process: In the competitive world of skincare and beauty, we needed a professional and experienced cosmetic chemist to consult on the design and manufacturing process. We were lucky to find a cosmetic chemist in Queensland Australia with over 20 years experience in the industry who has worked with hundreds of skincare companies here and around the world. Our product formulations have been fully tested, and you can rest assured that St John Skin products are of excellent quality, reliability and safety. We are just starting out on our skincare journey here at St John Skin, and if you feel your values are reflected in our brand and our offering, we would be delighted for you to join us.
