24.01.2022 Hi bayside musos. No doubt many of you have lost much of your livelihood through gig cancellations. To help bring in some income during these awful times, I've... just setup a facebook Group which allows you to promote your music and merch sales. If you don't have an ecommerce web presence, you can setup a buy or sell post which does this for you. Just join and post away. Its completely free! :) See more

21.01.2022 My fellow Victorians! A petition is before state parliament to provide a package to save Victoria's live music venues. Sign it! Share it! Music will never die, but venues will lay in ruin without help.

17.01.2022 Hi all, Our two international headline acts can’t be here due to the current crisis. Our interstate acts have cancelled due to their unease about travelling and other planned gigs while here have been put on hold. Some venues and local bands have pulled out too. After much deliberation, we are left with no alternative but to postpone the St Kilda Blues Festival 2020 until further notice. We are hoping to reschedule later in the year. However, St Kilda is still open for busine...ss. Rents and wages have to be paid. Artists still need gigs as that is their only income in a lot of cases. We are mindful of government directives regarding social gatherings, and all the remaining venues comply with current regulations on respect to patron numbers. Venues will still trade and they will still provide entertainment. Therefore, we will liaise with venues and artists to ascertain which gigs will go ahead regardless. We will post updated information when we can. Down at the crossroads! St Kilda Blues festival team See more

16.01.2022 SOS The Victorian live music industry is in trouble and needs your help. Venues from around the state - including Bar Open - have joined forces to pen an op...en letter and lobby the government for immediate and ongoing assistance to help them through the current crisis. Read the letter, spread the word, Save Our Scene. Sign the Govt petition here: https://www.saveourscene.com.au/ An open letter from Victorian music venues to the State Government Victoria’s famous music scene is on the brink of collapse and there’s no relief in sight. We are calling on the Victorian Government to step in and save our proud music culture by preserving the venues where artists play. Live music means mass gatherings, so it will be many months before our state's music venues can safely reopen our doors at viable capacities. In the meantime, our venues are being crippled by mounting debt including rent, mortgage payments, bills and insurance. Without Government intervention, many of the venues you love will be forced to close their doors permanently. From Victoria's small clubs to our iconic band rooms, the places where you go to listen, dance, share and celebrate music will start to disappear. Stages that nurture emerging artists to those that house Australia's and world’s biggest touring acts will go, and who knows what will replace them. Why does it matter? Music is who we are. It is a cornerstone of Victoria’s identity as the creative state, it is something that we are known for around the world, and it is a huge economic driver. Melbourne has more live music venues per capita than any other city in the world. The 700 music venues across Victoria host approximately 100,000 gigs a year, with an estimated economic impact of $1.42 billion generated from live music, clubs and festivals. Melbourne’s live music venues have an audience of 112,000 every Saturday night more than an AFL grand final. The industry generates tens of thousands of jobs, from musicians and DJs to bookers, promoters, publicists, venue operators, hospitality and bar staff, technicians, security staff and a vast network of ancillary suppliers and contractors. Music venues are the critical infrastructure of this industry. If our venues disappear, the live music economy will disappear, and our cultural heritage will go with it. Australian artists will have fewer places to perform, to grow, to find fans. At exactly the time when more local stages are needed - because international borders are closed - we will lose them. If we lose the venues, we will lose the artists too. Our music venues cannot survive without Victorian Government intervention. So please, protect our music venues. Support our artists. Save our scene. Sincerely, 170 RUSSELL 24 MOONS 29TH APARTMENT AFRO HUB ALPINE RETREAT MT BULLER BAD DECISIONS BAR 303 BARWON CLUB BAR OPEN BAR OUSSOU BASS LOUNGE BENDIGO HOTEL BLACKCAT BODRIGGY BROWN ALLEY BRUNSWICK GREEN CAFÉ GUMMO CARAVAN MUSIC CHANDELIER ROOM CHASERS CHERRY BAR COLOUR COMMERCIAL HOTEL COMPASS PIZZA CORNER HOTEL CROFT INSTITUTE DOG'S BAR DR MORSE EDINBURGH CASTLE EVELYN HOTEL FERDYDURKE FIFTYFIVE FORTYFIVE DOWNSTAIRS GEORGE'S BAR GLAMORAMA GRACE DARLING HOTEL GRAND HOTEL MORNINGTON HALLS GAP HOTEL HOTEL NICHOLAS HOWLER INFLATION IRISH TIMES JAZZ LAB JOHN CURTIN HOTEL LABOUR IN VAIN LA DI DA LAUNDRY BAR FITZROY LEADBEATER HOTEL LOOP LOST ONES OPEN STUDIO ONE SIX ONE MAJOR TOMS MAX WATTS MERRI CREEK TAVERN MR BOOGIE MAN BAR MUSICLAND FAWKNER MY AEON NEW GUERNICA NIGHTHAWKS NORTHCOTE SOCIAL CLUB ONE SIX ONE OPEN STUDIO PARIS CAT PAUSE BAR PIANO BAR PIER BANDROOM POST OFFICE HOTEL PRINCE ALFRED HOTEL PRINCE BANDROOM RADAR REVOLVER UPSTAIRS ROOFTOP BAR ROYAL OAK HOTEL RUBIK WAREHOUSE SAINTS & SAILORS PORT ARLINGTON SECTION 8 BAR SHADY LADY SOOKI LOUNGE STAY GOLD BRUNSWICK SWAMPLANDS BAR THEATRE ROYAL CASTLEMAINE THE B.EAST THE BERGY SELTZER THE BRIDGE HOTEL THE BUTTERFLY CLUB THE CARLTON CLUB THE CHARLES WESTON HOTEL THE COLONIAL HOTEL THE CROXTON BANDROOM THE DRUNKEN POET THE EASTERN THE ESPY THE FORUM THE GASOMETER HOTEL THE GOLDEN VINE THE HORN AFRICAN CAFE THE NIGHT CAT THE OLD BAR THE PALAIS HEPBURN THE PINNACLE THE RAINBOW HOTEL THE RETREAT HOTEL THE THORNBURY THEATRE THE TOFF THE TOTE THE TRAMWAY HOTEL THE WOOL EXCHANGE TORQUAY HOTEL TRAMP VOLTA WESLEY ANNE WESTERNPORT HOTEL WESTWOOD HOTEL WHOLE LOTTA LOVE WORKERS CLUB WORKERS CLUB GEELONG YAH YAHS YARRAVILLE CLUB

16.01.2022 Looks like June is going to see us taking baby steps to reopening to serving meals to up to 20 customers at a time per enclosed space. (i'm thinking more like 1...0 for us.) This is a much welcomed first step. There are many things we still need clarification on from the government and their public health team before we can announce exactly what we will be doing. Take Away & Deliveries will continue & I urge you to keep supporting this, as it is crucial to our survival. It is extremely important that when we can reopen to dine in, it is in a safe and economically viable way. There will be changes. There needs to be change, but we will continue to do our best & we hope you will adhere to the requirements necessary to make this first step successful and safe for all of us. So here is the June Gig Guide......enjoy! See more
