24.01.2022 5 Lessons I’ve learnt since I started in this industry. experience is key. Just when you think you know...you definatly don’t. It’s so important to do internships, surround yourself with mentors, keep upskilling and throw yourself in the deep end where ever possible. Life is practical, the just the theory alone won’t always help you . Qualifications are great, but your ability to communicate is almost just as valuable towards your success.... The universe favors the brave. And by that I mean putting yourself out there in an incredibley saturated environment, stand out in your own way, and most importantly take risks. consider every opportunity that is thrown your way, big or small you never know where it may take you, or who it might take you to. Be willing to go through the shit from time to time, because there is no industry that chews them up and spits them out quicker than this one. But if your willing to be there for the long haul and never quit, things will turn your way eventually. (bonus lesson) Smile, wave and keep to yourself at the Christmas party, otherwise the following monday morning is an even bigger roasting than the Saturday night. 09.01.2022 No pain no gain. What a load of shit that is. Time and time again the world has created this notion that if Your not breaking yourself each session you may aswell be sitting at home on the peppermint teas and Tim tams. And I’m here to tell you that is wrong. It’s important to train at a good intensity that challenges you, and it’s also important to have those sessions that push you to your threshold, but chasing a flogging and sorenessevery session is only going to ...keep you catablolic, sore, your central Nervous system fried. Ifyou train once a week and your so busted that you can’t train again for days, that’s unproductive if you ask me. From a sport performance perspective we want good high quality movement and stimulus, that when you leave your strength session (depending on the training phase your in) your feel fresh and are able to train at a high level in your sport, not jacked up, heavy and feeling like a deadweight. The more fatigue we have the poorer the movement quality becomes, the higher in the injury risk...and so on. Periodise your training. Break it down into training blocks and build over time. Being sore is not a good indicator of good session. Any muppet can do that. That’s all from me. - - #nopainnogain #fitnessmyths #fitness #strengthandconditioning #strengthtraining #physicalperformance #strengthcoach #trainhard #trainsmart See more

06.01.2022 Great to have @sebastianfernandez_ down to Start training this week at our makeshift outdoor gym at pulse8 (masks on ofcourse). Seb is a talented footballer I met when I was at the @oakleighchargers and am pleased to be running his strength and conditioning program moving forward as he pushes into the next pre season and hopefully the VFL. He’s also created his own very impressive football coaching service for juniors looking to better themselves in the sport and ...strive to play at high levels focusing on footy and tactical skills. If your young and are looking for an extra edge, jump over to @round1ready and check it out. Just because gyms aren’t open yet doesn’t mean you should sit on your arse and wait to be kicked in the guts by pre season next year. If you want athlete development it’s now outdoors, mask on at @pulse8centre . adapt, learn, grow. - - #athlete #athletedevelopment #strengthtraining #strengthandconditioning #speed #power #sportscience #afl # See more
