20.01.2022 Today I reclaimed one of our garden beds which was overrun by sweet potato. I piled up 3 raised soil beds and created a modified Hügelkultur under the pathways with some leaf and wood mulch layered with mown Wynn cassia (paddock grass), horse poo and a bit of blood and bone.
20.01.2022 What a difference good soil makes!The cucumber on the right has been planted in a pile of processed horse/alpaca poo and the seedling on the left was planted at the same time but doesn’t have the worm activity. I am a lazy gardener so like to make my soil where I use it and this is the simplest method I have found. Pile of fresh poo, add handful of compost worms in middle and keep moist. You will know it’s ready and the worms have done their job when soil looks smooth and crumbly on top. Magic!

16.01.2022 Chillies are supposed to like full sun however my best plants are being shaded by passion fruit vines. Last photo is the plant after I harvested most of the chillies (because I forgot to take it earlier) Where do you grow your chillies?
15.01.2022 Flies have arrived in force (around the time the Alpacas did ) so I broke out the packets of stinky fly attractant a couple of days ago and have noticed a big difference. Only problem is it STINKS!!!!
