14.05.2022 Fantastic people and we rely on their support. Thanks to all the SES members at Stratford unit and wider Victoria.

11.05.2022 A busy week for our volunteers this week. We were called to support Maffra Fire Brigade on Monday night for a structure fire, a call to support Briagolong Cfa on Friday afternoon for a caravan fire, a motor vehicle accident at 2am Saturday morning and then a call to support Sale fire brigade at 6am this morning but we weren’t required. Oh and of course training on Tuesday night as per normal as well. CFA South East Region CFA (Country Fire Authority) CFA South East Region - DCO Trevor Owen

24.01.2022 Our members are pretty special people not only do they step-up and serve their local communities, they have a strong history of serving their country too. On ...this day 75 years ago the deadliest conflict in human history, World War II, came to an end. Hundreds of CFA members enlisted to serve their country and tragically, many never came home. Today we honour those who paid the ultimate sacrifice, and the many more who returned and continued to proudly serve their state through CFA. We are forever grateful #VPDAY75 --- These photos show just a small selection of honour boards and memorials which feature in many CFA stations across Victoria.

24.01.2022 As you turn your clocks forward this weekend, remember to check that your smoke alarms are in clean and working condition. Replace the battery or the whole unit if it is more than 10 years old. For more information head to https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/fires-in-the-home.

23.01.2022 To be able to fight fire, we must first understand fire and that is where Thomas Duff, Senior Research Scientist at CFA comes in. Victoria’s landscape is compl...ex, and we need scientists like Thomas to better understand what drives all types of fires, how they move and what resources we need to fight them. This information is then used to help our firefighters and protect them during our fire seasons. His role involves using a lot of science, from looking at how climate change and weather affects fire conditions to research and experiments done right here in Victoria. Thomas explains why he loves his job for #ScienceWeek.

23.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season. 23.01.2022 Most fatal fires start at night and the smell of smoke alone won’t wake you up. For the safety of you and your loved ones install smoke alarms in all living an...d sleeping areas and ensure they are interconnected so when one alarm activates, they all sound. #SilenceIsDeadly www.cfa.vic.gov.au/silenceisdeadly

22.01.2022 Thousands of Victorians are still with us because a brave bystander stepped in. Every day around 18 Victorians will have a cardiac arrest, with only 1 in 10 surviving. Bystander intervention has the greatest impact on improving that rate.... Did you know that performing CPR and using an AED lifts the chances of surviving a cardiac arrest by 68%? October is now dubbed 'Shocktober', as Ambulance Victoria encourages all Victorians to learn CPR and locate their nearest AED. 22.01.2022 We know there are many CFA families whose dads often give up time with their loved ones to support their communities. Each and every day we are so thankful for ...our hardworking volunteers, and today we would like to wish all of the dads in CFA and our wider communities a very happy Father's Day We'd love to hear from all those who have dads in the CFA in the comments below Pictured: two generations of the Hardacre Family from Ruby Fire Brigade

21.01.2022 Santa is back in station and all out of lollies! Santa has told us he was very pleased to see all the smiles and happy faces around town after the year that has been! 21.01.2022 With summer starting tomorrow and many grass and bushfires already burning, it's a timely reminder to start preparing for bushfires. While the risk of bushfir...es isn't as high as last summerdue to an active La Niña which suggests wetter-than-average conditions for much of the countryfires will still occur. Southeastern Australia in particular is one of the most fire-prone regions in the world and even short periods of hot and dry weather can increase the risk of fire in summer. Understanding fire weather means you can be better prepared and help you stay safe. Learn more from our blog: http://ow.ly/zFLl50CxDDN

19.01.2022 You may notice some building works for the next few weeks around the Stratford fire station. This work is being done to enhance our response capabilities and save time to get a truck out. During the works you won’t notice any difference to our current service.

18.01.2022 Hi folks, a busy day for Stratford Brigade with 2 calls in 2 minutes. We are still on scene at a grass fire in the Balgonie Lane/Redbank road area. Be cautious there will be emergency appliances in the area.

18.01.2022 Stratford firefighters along with Briagolong Cfa and Munro CFA were called to a grass and scrub fire in Munro this afternoon. It’s drying out folks so register your burns, ensure you have sufficient water and keep watching it.

16.01.2022 A quick look around our amazing town.

16.01.2022 Hopefully we can engage with the traditional owners of the Knob Reserve to carry out a traditional burn sooner rather than later.

11.01.2022 Today I joined Vic Emergency, Fire Rescue Victoria and Forest Fire Management Victoria for the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC (Cooperative Research Centre) bu...shfire seasonal outlook. While we are potentially looking at fewer prolonged fires this season, this doesn’t mean our communities can be complacent. Start preparing your properties and planning for fire season when it hits. 11.01.2022 Time to clean up folks

10.01.2022 Hi all be aware there is a small fire on the Princess Hwy south of Stratford with trucks on scene.

09.01.2022 A terrifying statistic that close to half of all Victorians living at high-risk of bushfire would choose to wait and see rather than leave early on high ris...k days.* We urge all Victorians during summer to leave early before a grassfire or bushfire starts. You could be risking the lives of your loved ones and firefighters.

07.01.2022 Stratford has 2 listed. At the bowls club and football/netball club. The fire brigade also has one in our command vehicle.

07.01.2022 Download the free app. It could save your life.

07.01.2022 Did you know the flame temperature of a bushfire can reach 1100c? It will be too late to make a plan when a fire is approaching. Be prepared and know what you’ll do in the event of a fire. #PlanActSurvive

07.01.2022 DO NOT DRIVE unless it's absolutely necessary tonight. Conditions on our roads are abysmal across the state this evening. Emergency services are currently at...tending to a huge number of incidents and accidents, with power lines and trees across roads and widespread power outages. If the curfew isn't incentive enough to stay home, please consider your own safety as well as the safety of emergency services workers who are currently dealing with the damage caused by this evening's severe weather. Please share with anyone you know who might be considering driving this evening. If you require assistance please contact the Victoria State Emergency Service on 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies call Triple Zero (000).

05.01.2022 Very High fire danger tomorrow folks. Looks like a bad fire day.

02.01.2022 Today is Police Remembrance Day, a chance to honour and pay our respects to members of our police force. Today, and every day, we say thank you to our colleagues at Victoria Police, and recognise the important work they do. to protect our society.

02.01.2022 In May this year, Nary and her family were eating breakfast when they heard a faint beeping noise. Within a matter of minutes, the entire top storey of their ho...use was alight, from a fire likely started by a faulty electrical blanket. Nary’s whole family were able to safely escape with just the clothes on their back, and credit their safe evacuation to having a working smoke alarm. Install interconnected smoke alarms in all bedrooms and living areas, and ensure you test batteries monthly. Only working smoke alarms save lives.
