25.01.2022 I had a great time today teaching people about bees at Shellharbour Bunnings . I really need some bee shirts made I think :) - Ian

23.01.2022 After some challenging months we managed to get into our hives over the past few weeks and due to my current condition I managed to rope in a few helpers to assist me robbing some of the hives. This means we have plenty of Autumn honey now available for sale. If you check out the website we have contactless payment options and delivery is available in local areas. I have also been pretty busy making candles with the wax left over as a part of the extraction process. We have still a few hives to go before Autumn ends however we are fortunate enough to be able to inspect hives even with the current restrictions. We just need some warm days :) Stay safe everyone - Ian

23.01.2022 We will be at Puckeys Night Market Wednesday 30th October if you want to purchase some Honey or hive products. I was preparing a swarm hive for our observation hive and I guess they are doing pretty well :)

22.01.2022 Guess what we have been up to tonight. Yup beeswax wraps :)

21.01.2022 Raging Saturday night at Sublime Honey, we have sticky floors but for a slightly different reason to Saturday night entertainment locations :). We have lots of honey for sale if you would like some fresh raw local honey.

19.01.2022 Supplied a Nuc of bees (a Nuc is 4 or 5 frames of established bees rather than a swarm) to this lovely Flow hive recently and I think they have settled in well to their new home.

16.01.2022 I have been busy making some candles :) time for a few new molds I think - Ian

15.01.2022 This looks fun !!!

15.01.2022 So after a few days in of having plenty of time, I finally got around to creating a very basic page for our honey stuff which isn't using Facebook. It even includes an online shop. If you want to check it out http://www.sublimehoney.com

15.01.2022 Stuart Anderson, Co-inventor of the Flow Hive presenting at today's field day at the Illawarra bee keeping club.

13.01.2022 Helping a fellow bee keeper get their first swarm today. Being in the middle of the tree didn't make it easy but we got there. Hopefully they are all inside the box tonight.

12.01.2022 Great piece and very true about stress. Love my bees.

10.01.2022 Spring is going to be just around the corner. We have started preparing for the busiest time of the year for bee keepers. Given how warm it's been I think it maybe a good season. If you need some honey we have plenty still in stock from our Winter extraction. Please visit http://www.sublimehoney.com to purchase from our online store. We offer no contact pick-up or delivery to local areas in the Illawarra. You can also purchase directly from our door anytime, we have contacless payment options and we do accept cash.

09.01.2022 Interesting article about fake honey

09.01.2022 So I couldn't sleep this morning (not sure if it was delayed jet lag) so I decided to use the early morning to my advantage and check out how the girls are going in early spring. I pulled out my FLIR and checked out each hive. Very early morning is the best time to use it as there is very little latent heat from the previous day. Bees keep the hive around 34c for the queen to lay eggs (she won't lay when it's cooler) so the thermal camera works really well in determining the population of the hive without having to open the box and disturb them.

08.01.2022 We are setup and ready for the Markets

06.01.2022 The calm before the swarm...and storm. I managed to get these guys into a new home before the crazy storm hit.

04.01.2022 Visited a house today, they may have a small bee problem (OK pretty big issue). This will be an interesting rescue in the next few weeks. I hope to document the process :)

02.01.2022 Things are starting to get busy as we get closer to spring. We extracted some winter honey if anyone would like some. I have also been getting the frames cleaned so lots of wax ready to make some wraps and candles etc.

01.01.2022 After a long time between posts due to some health issues I am now back into the bees. I have been having fun with wax again and have made some pretty good lip balm(I think). This is tonight's fun.
