15.01.2022 At our Invertebrate single launch shows a month ago I was cracking jokes about Zac Efron and I dedicated our Super Massive version of MGF's Hollywood to his Australian girlfriend Vanessa Valladares, coz they keep appearing in the news moseying around from Byron to Currumbin and their romance story mirrors the starlust fantasy of the song lyrics absolutely perfectly . Today I read that Zac is starring in an Aussie film called Gold, produced by the lovely Johnny Schwarz, w...ho it just so happens I once had scenes with... ha ha! He's an old faux boyfriend from way back. Haven't seen Schwarzy for ages - congratulations John if you see this! - but it got me reminiscing and relivin' fond memories of this little indie sci fi comedy feature film called Neophytes and Neon Lights we were in 20 years ago now... (...really? 20 years!) and this was my favourite scene in the film. I was Shade, the drug dealing queen of the gang and John was Steven, the airport security guard and my secret boyfriend. This scene cracks me up because Ripley Hood is so goddam funny. I had to seduce / persuade Johnny to help us escape from a jail cell and Johnny decides to do it and tasers Ripley to great comic effect. Matt Doran, Nadia Townsend and Sam O'Dell are also in the stills below from the scene. It was a really fun shoot with a really awesome bunch, with lots of other wonderful people including Jai Koutrae, Lyall Sumner, Keh Ng, Cian O'Clery, Cass Cummerford, Darren Mapes, Alan Cinis, Matthew Foster to name a few, led by our fearless director/producer and now good buddy Shane T. Hall. The film was selected for a bunch of festivals including the B-Film Festival of New York and the International Film Festival of India and we were about to jet off to Bangalore to promote it when 9/11 struck and everything was grounded / cancelled... kinda like this year... . This scene was filmed in the haunted old army barracks at Centennial Park - Yeah, we saw the ghost, but that's another story... .. ha ha! So......................... I have to say, the beguilingly attainable superstar in our neighbourhood is orbitting closer.
