25.01.2022 "Byron Bay Fly Over" Recently I took a Helicopter ride over Byron Bay as part of a Canon Collective workshop that was held at Elements of Byron. The workshop was great & certainly gave us some pointers in the right direction for furthering our photography career's. Canon Australia provided me with the Helicopter flight as part of their promotion of the event & wasn't it epic. I have always wanted to see Byron from above & to photograph it at the same time was amazing. ... The flight I took was with AIR T&G Helicopter Services located in Ballina, just near the Airport there. I carried two camera's with me, both Canon camera's, a 7D & a 5D Mark iii with a 17-40mm f/4 lens & a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens so that I could capture as much as possible. What a ride it was. A shout out to my partner in photography for the day - David Hall Photography, we had a good time & we even won the last brief of the day, which was "Show Byron Bay as you've never seen it before" (I will post the winning image below). Thanks Dave for the good memories of the event & the good times + Beers ;-) Some of these images are singles frames & some are Panorama's stitched together in Lightroom. I'd like to express a big thanks to Canon Australia & Air T&G Helicopter Services for this opportunity. If you like what you see please leave me a comment of your thoughts & also please feel free to share :-) Facebook; https://www.facebook.com/SurflifeAustraliaPhotography Vimeo; https://vimeo.com/surflifeaustraliaphotog Instagram; @slap_byronbay Twitter; @slap_byronbay #Helicopter #Chopper #ByronBay #Beauty #Air #Earth #Canon #Canon_Collective #Workshop

19.01.2022 "Smokey Moon Rise" It was a very hazy afternoon in Byron Bay when I decided to go capture this moon rise. To be honest I totally missed the beginning of the rise because I could hardly see the moon. The haze was from thesmoke of the bushfires burning throughout the state & I am now very glad to say that with all this rain in the past week that most of the fires are completly out. Very happy considering the devistation those fires created. It was heart breaking for many of us ...to see & I just hope that things change for the better in times to come. I am posting this now because I would have loved to capture this full moon but it is far to wet & cloudy at the moment so I went to the archives ;-) Over the past few months I have been shooting a bit but not posting at all. I needed a break from Social Media tbh... Balance is everything. This video is made up of 496 single images captured from just near Belongil creek, on Belongil Beach, 4.8 kilometers from Cape Byron Lighthouse using my Canon Australia 7D, Canon 600mm IS ii F/4 & Canon 1.4 extender giving me a focal length of 840mm. I used the app PhotoPills to do my location calculations & I came up pretty close. Video was made using Lightroom, LRTimelapse, Adobe Premiere Pro & rendered with Cyberlink Power Director 12. I really hope you like my video & I'd certainly love to hear any of your comments? Also please feel free to share or tag a friend that might like to see this video. 18.01.2022 "Surfing with Dolphins #2" What a day in Byron Bay I arrived at the beach early in the day & saw a few large pods of dolphins surfing through the lineup, splashing, smacking around, feeding & also just having a great time. Watching this take place you could really feel the joy that they were having & also the joy of all the surfers in the ocean with them. It was a special moment in time & I was lucky enough to capture most of on Video. Bless the dolphins, they bring a smile t...o my life every time i see them. I captured all clips using Canon 5D Mark iii & Canon 600mm IS ii, F/4, some clips were filmed using Canon 1.4 extender. Focal range 600mm - 840mm. Monfroto 175cm Tripod, with fluid head was not ideal at all but managed to do ok. I hope you enjoy this Video & I would love to hear any of your thoughts? I did set up & capture a time lapse of the moon rise which I will do some work on & bring to you asap. This frame was captured just after I stopped shooting the time lapse. ... I captured this image using Canon 7D, Canon 600mm IS ii - F/4 & Canon 1.4 extender giving me a focal length of 840mm. 15.01.2022 Majestic Yesterday I spent some time up at Cape Byron Lighthouse to see if I could luck out & capture a glimpse of Migaloo (no luck). While I was there a large pod of Humpbacks came past about 30 meters out & put on a great little show. No breaching from the whales but the dolphins were jumping around having a great time & the whales slapping the water, rolling around all whilst holding a steady pace North bound. It was really cool to see the dolphins cruising along, jum...ping in & out of the water right next to these large whales. It really puts the size of the whales into perspective. All pics captured in Byron Bay with Canon Australia 5D Mark iii, Canon 600mm is ii f/4, & canon 1.4 extender. Please feel free to share or tag a friend that might like to see them. Also please leave me your thought if you have the time. Love the ocean. https://www.facebook.com/SurflifeAustraliaPhotography #Whales #Dolphins #Ocean #Majestic #Migration

12.01.2022 "Moody Sky" Tonight saw an epic storm cloud head toward Byron Bay right at sunset. Although the storm didn't create much energy in the sky, it was certainly a spectacular site. Here are a couple of images I captured from Suffolk Park Oval & Lake. ... All images captured with Canon Australia 5D Mark iii & Canon 17-40mm f/4. Each of these images are made up of 8 plus single frames, merged in Photoshop & edited in Lightroom Please feel free to share any of these images or tag a friend that might like it. :-) #Storm #Cloud #Sunset #Lake #SuffolkPark #ByronBay #NewSouthWales #Australia

06.01.2022 Unconditional Love ~ Something to brighten up your evening. It was a wonderful site seeing this mother carry her baby across the road & up into their home. To be honest I could not believe the size of the baby that this mother was carrying & as soon as she was up the tree, off went bubs for a good climb around the tree. Just amazing. ... It made me smile so I hope it does for you. Video captured with iPhone & stills captured with Canon 5D Mark iii & Canon 70-200mm. 04.01.2022 "Pink Super Moon Rise - Cape Byron Lighthouse" Watch in HD for best quality.... Last night I captured the rise of the largest Full Moon of 2020. ... This Super Moon is called "Pink Super Moon". It's known as the Pink Moon, as it's the first full moon of spring in the northern hemisphere. The name derives from a pink flower called phlox subulata that blooms in spring in North America. This super moon is about 10% closer and 20% bigger in area and brightness. It was a truly beautiful sight to witness & capture. Clouds were out in full force last night & to be honest I really didn't think I would have much hope capturing the moon, but as time got closer to the rise the clouds departed enough for us to get a glimpse of the magic in motion. Shout out to Ben Ormonde who was there next to me as we witnessed this in motion. (also thanks for keeping the mosquito's at bay). I had some struggles in post processing due to some wind gusts while filming so the video does have a few imperfections which I tried my best to fix. I captured this Video from Belongil Beach, Byron Bay 3.2 kilometers from Cape Byron Lighthouse. Captured using Canon Australia 7D, Canon 600mm IS II, f/4 & Canon 1.4 extender giving me a focal length of 840mm. Video is made up of 800 still images. Edited in Lightroom & produced using LRTimelapse, Cyberlink PowerDirector 12 & Adobe Premiere Pro. Music by: Blue Dot Sessions ~ Slow Rollout. I hope you like my Video & I would certainly love to hear your thoughts? Also please feel free to tag a friend that might like to see it? 03.01.2022 "Capricorn Rising" Full Moon rise in Capricorn - Byron Bay - 05/07/2020. (Watch in HD for best quality)... Yesterday I went out to capture the Full Moon rising behind Cape Byron Lighthouse. During the day the sky was clear, wind was low & conditions were looking perfect but as the evening neared this haze came across from the West. It was not ideal but the cloud was not thick enough to can the shoot so I went ahead with it. I drove up to Elements - Byron Bay, parked my car & then walked a further 2 kilometres up Belongil Beach. When I arrived I noticed a few other photographers set up for the Full Moon shoot. We were all setup in different locations about 20-40 meters apart & we all managed to capture some great content. I have been Inspired by a fellow photographer & friend Kelvin Hennessy who set up further down the beach. He nailed this moon rise in Real Time Video & had the moon come up directly centered behind Byron Bay Lighthouse. His organizing & planing for this kind of moon shoot is very impressive & I feel I will learn a lot from Kelvin. Please check out his work on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/phasefourphoto or on Instagram at: @phasefourphoto. You will be impressed. My equipment I used to capture this Video is Canon 7D, Canon 600mm IS ii - F/4 & Canon 1.4 extender, mounted on a 175cm Manfroto Tripod, giving me a focal length of 840mm & an effective focal length of 1344mm. This video is made up of 632 single images, edited in LRTimelapse & Lightroom then created in Cyberlink PowerDirector 12 with some additional touches in Adobe Premiere Pro CC. To locate my position for this moon rise I use an iPhone App called Photopills. Cape Byron Lighthouse has just had an extensive set of works done in & around the lighthouse & the main light is still turned off, that's why you might notice a little flash to the left of the existing light. I really hope you like this video & I would certainly love to hear any of your thoughts or questions regarding this clip. Also please feel free to share this video around or tag a friend that would like to see it. Music by: Ahjay Stelino - Dreaming Big.
