25.01.2022 Submit your photos for the 2021 Calendar! A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out the recent SVSS Calendar Survey. We received valuable insights that will be a great help in this year's calendar planning. As the 2020 year has gone differently to how we all expected, we'd love to showcase the strange year that it's been. This year we'd love parent photo contributions. If you have any beautiful photos of your children learning from home, their artwork or just... lovely photos that showcase the Steiner way-in-practice - we'd love to see them. Please send your photos over to Lia at [email protected] by the 21st of October. Note on photo consent: If you submit photos, by doing so you give permission for the photos to be used as is, without payment, and have gained express consent for all people included in the photos. Please note that we'll try to include as many photos as possible, however we may not be able to use all. Thanks Team PAFA.

24.01.2022 Dear SVSS Community, To further increase safety and health practices at our school, as well as the requirement to not send your child to school if unwell with s...ymptoms of sore throat, runny nose, cough or fever, I also ask that if you have a thermometer at home, that you take your childs/childrens temperature before they come to school and if they have a raised temperature, to keep them at home. It is essential that as school is still being required to stay open, that we protect children and staff who are attending, as far as possible, so I appreciate your co-operation and vigilance in keeping your child at home if unwell. Warm regards, Tracey Taylor School Director

19.01.2022 Update on calendars Thank you all for patiently waiting for the calendars to be printed. They were almost delayed due to a number of printing and binding logistics (mostly due to reduced supply and demand issues caused by COVID 19). In order to have these calendars out to you this week we’ve managed to source a local print shop that could do the binding by hand. This has raised our production price but we thought it was important to get these beautiful calendars out to you be...fore the end of the school year. We hope you understand that we have needed to remove the discount for the purchase of 2 or 3 copies at a time. All calendars from now are a flat rate of $15. If you made a pre-order, thank you! We are delivering them to the class you nominated in your order. Classes 1, 2 and 3 will receive theirs today. The rest of the school was distributed on Tuesday. Please ask your teachers if you haven’t received a copy by pick up time. If you have not yet ordered a copy and would still like to purchase one, you can still do so online https://www.trybooking.com/BMGFQ. Pick up your order on the Carols night this Thursday or from the Treehouse. Just present your electronic receipt. Or you can also pay via cash or EFTPOS as well. We hope you like the new design! Your 2021 Calendar Team

16.01.2022 PAFA - Christmas Stone Fruit Fundraiser As the seasons of 2020 gradually change, it's nearing that glorious time when we can enjoy South East Queensland treats fresh from Mother Nature - fresh mangoes and cherries, delicious peaches, apricots and plums. Delightful offerings perfect for a hot, Aussie Christmas. PAFA is pleased to be taking part in Food Connect's "Boxes for the Greater Goodness" school fundraiser. Food Connect is a social enterprise connecting communities with... a network of independent, ecological farmers in South East Queensland. Their vision is that together we can create a world where everyone has access to healthy, fresh food that's fair to growers, eaters and the planet. As part of the fundraiser, they are offering two sized boxes containing mangoes and stone fruit - Small ($39) and Large ($59). $10 to $15 from each box will be donated directly to PAFA. All proceeds raised will help support improvements to the Garden Kitchen - an enriching space that helps to nourish our children. Orders for boxes are due by Friday, November 20, and delivery to the school will be made during the last week of term (between 1-4 December). After you place your order, PAFA will be in touch closer to the delivery time with details of when and how to collect. To order your fresh stonefruit box, use this link: https://www.trybooking.com/BMTIA With thanks and blessings for the new season, Team PAFA

13.01.2022 Hello Parents & Friends. We hope you are all staying well! Our very own Craft Group has started a 'virtual crafting circle'! So if you are after a project with connection, then please contact Kirsty below! ------------------------------------------------------- Hello lovely crafters of Samford Valley and now beyond!... It is with absolute pleasure that Kirsty and I are introducing the concept of a virtual crafting circle in craft group to support social-distancing while maintaining social-connections! Each and every one of our regular crafting friends hate to miss our regular craft Wednesdays & with the prospect of social-distancing and self-quarantine (and who knows what the future will hold!) many of us are thinking about how to stay connected and be involved in our established community groups as well as ways to keep our hands and minds occupied with a little soul nourishing handcraft. To address these needs we are implementing for term two, a virtual craft circle using the ZOOM platform, and a kit subscription where participants can choose to log in in real time, or follow the written instructions at a later date to complete each project set. We still have a full schedule of seasonally appropriate craft planned and we would hate to have this go to waste! It is also open to everyone, even if you have never participated in a craft session with us you will be welcomed! If this is something you are interested in please send your preferred email address to [email protected] to be included on the group email list and we will forward you all the important details. Sarah & Kirsty @samfordvalleysteinercraftgroup

12.01.2022 Hello Parents & Friends, Have you heard of the Samford Edible Garden Trail? It is a community initiative to share ideas about growing food in our backyards, to inspire more of us to give it a go At 2pm today, a video about the veggie gardens at our School will go up live on the Online Trail. Dave Rule our gardening teacher will walk through & talk about what we are doing at the school in regards to gardens, composting and worm farms. After this he will be online for Q & A.... It would be great to have some questions come in so that we can generate a discussion to inspire other schools to take on some of these initiatives! You can find us here Samford Edible Garden Trail - Virtual Tours (May 2020) - please join us if you can This video and all the others on the Trail are posted up each night onto YouTube where it is easy to follow the daily gardens: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCd6jGRw7g4xL-FqLVNqMi_w Thank you for your support!
