25.01.2022 We have been treated to some wonderful mail just recently from some awesome artists who have stayed with us here at the park!! It was such a thrill to receive these and we would love to get more to share here on our Facebook page if any artists would like to send their work through.

24.01.2022 Some great news for not just our local residents but our guests travelling through and practicing social distance, the Bark Mill Tavern are offering their menu as takeaway and will soon have an online ordering system up and running!

23.01.2022 Parks & Wildlife Service has advised that restrictions to campfires come into place on 4 December. If you are going away on the boat camping, please make sure you are aware of the restrictions.

22.01.2022 We were excited to share some of the first vegetables we have harvested from our vegetable garden with some lucky guests today. While the silver beet and Swiss chard have been around for a while this was the first time we had broccolini to share

22.01.2022 Very sad news to hear that the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council has decided to close three of the local east coast council visitor centres, with closures of the Triabunna, Swansea and Bicheno centres. https://www.abc.net.au//glamorgan-spring-bay-coun/12293196

21.01.2022 Great News! We re-open on Friday 12th June. Looking forward to welcoming everyone back!! We have all our Covid-19 requirements in place for your protection and will be following the proscribed safe distancing guidelines. Bookings are now available online or by phone.

21.01.2022 We are still open. Edit: Please note at this time information advises we will not be able to take local Tasmanians who have access to their permanent residence in Tasmania, only those who are from interstate waiting to board the spirit to depart Tasmania and cannot access their permanent residence in the interim. We will be in contact with the few remaining bookings to advise of this and recommend that interstate travellers limit their movements whilst waiting to depart, as... per Government advice. Here at Swansea Holiday Park our ethos as a family owned and operated park is to be welcoming and to ensure that our guests feel like part of the family while they are with us. As such we would like to provide all our current, future and potential guests with information on our current operating situation. Our park is still open, and we are still welcoming guests, with some conditions, as we follow the instructions from both Local and Federal Government bodies. At this time, we will be limiting our sites as of Sunday 29th March to Self-contained vehicles only, unless advised to do so earlier by a Governing body either Federal or Local. This means that all guests will be required to have within their caravans a shower and toilet from that date onward, as our Amenities will be closing at 10am on Sunday March 29th. Since we will be offering limited facilities to our guests of a site with power and water only, we will be reducing our rate to reflect this. From Sunday March 29th until April 30th (pending any changes in instruction from Government) our rate will be $20.00 per night for a powered site. We strongly discourage any unnecessary travel by local Tasmanians, as per Government advice, but welcome those who are stuck while waiting for a spot on the Spirit of Tasmania to get home, or as an interstate visitor away from home travelling Tasmania, in these cases our home is your home while you need somewhere to stay. If you are unable to be self-contained, please do still get in contact with us, we have self-contained cabins available for which we are planning to implement weekly rates (pending individual circumstances, conditional apply). This will assist those who cannot return home just yet, and for those with caravans that do not have a shower and toilet. Links for further information from the Caravan Industry Association of Australia can be found in the comments below.

13.01.2022 FROM ANOTHER SITE, WELL WRITTEN. To anyone who sees caravans and RVs driving through Australia at the moment. Think before you judge or attack them for travell...ing in the midst of a pandemic. Remember that many people were in the middle of their trip when all if this started. They did not see this coming. And thousands of them are grey-nomads whos retirement dreams have turned terrifying. Many of them were far from home when they heard the message not to travel and so stayed where they were. They bunkered down in camping grounds and caravan parks to wait it out. Thinking that staying put was the right thing to do. Recent events have seen thousands of them displaced and left with no choice but to travel.Tasmania ordered all tourists get out of their state by Sunday, 26th of March. And as of the 25th of March, many of our State Governments have ordered the closure of camping grounds and told caravan parks to turn away all but permanent residents. With nowhere to stay, many travellers will be forced to drive through the night or stop to sleep on the side of the road. Please remember that these travellers have been given no choice but to make their way home through affected area and closed borders, not knowing how they will be treated. Most of them are taking every precaution and are aware that they face 2 weeks of isolation upon arriving home. Many are elderly and precisely the most vulnerable in this pandemic. They themselves are at risk every time they need to stop for fuel or food. Many of them are shocked, anxious, tired and scared. And many of them have families who are worried for their safety. They did not choose to be on the road at a time like this. They are not tourists flouting the travel ban. They are our parents and grandparents... and they are just trying to get home safely. So if you see them, please show them some consideration and compassion. Give them a wave instead of the finger and offer them help instead of abuse. We should all be showing kindness to our fellow humans at a time like this. Even if it is from 1.5m+ and adorned with gloves and masks. To those making your way home right now, I wish you all a safe journey x See more

11.01.2022 What's the strangest thing you've seen in Tassie? Jack Horne was enjoying a holiday in Bicheno recently when he saw this convoy pass by his accommodation! ...The man leading the pack, John Elliot, has been trekking around Australia with his camels and dog Bruski. He's already clocked up 4,000kms, using the trip to raise awareness of melanoma and the importance of regular skin checks. MORE: https://ab.co/34Qh1UO : Jack Horne.

10.01.2022 We have a communal vegetable garden!! We hope everyone has been keeping safe in these unprecedented times! While we have all been social distancing Peter and Janelle have kept busy with some recycling. After removing some timber from cabins earlier in the year this timber has been recycled into 3 raised communal vegetable patches to compliment our existing communal herb garden. ... We cant wait for our guests to be able to harvest the first vegetables which are already sprouting.

09.01.2022 We have lift off!!! The veggies are appearing, we have peas, carrots broccoli onions lettuce, leeks, cabbage, parsnip (hopefully ... its being a little slow) and more cant wait to share when they are ready for harvest! Frannie was also making sure there were no seedling thieves hiding in the hydrangeas after supervising the construction and planting of her veggie patches.

08.01.2022 In March, a tough decision was made to close all PWS national parks and reserves across Tasmania to limit non-essential travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. We ...understand this has been difficult for our nature-loving community who enjoy a wide variety of recreational uses, including bushwalking, running and swimming in the natural spaces around us. With strict physical distancing and group gathering restrictions now embedded in our daily lives, limited access to Tasmanias national parks and reserves will be permitted from Monday 11 May, for the purpose of local exercise only. So, what does this all mean? You may exercise at your local national park or reserve. You can either walk, cycle or run to your nearest park or reserve, and if this is not possible, drive to one within 30 kilometres of your place of residence You must return home after you have completed your exercise and only day use is permitted. Gathering for picnics or other recreational activities remains prohibited. If carparks are full, please move on and return at another time. Surfing and swimming are allowed. Physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres between each other must be adhered to and groups are limited to two people, except for household members. Visitor centres and campgrounds remain closed until further notice. For more information visit our website at www.parks.tas.gov.au Please note that Wellington Park will re-open but the Pinnacle Road will remain closed to vehicle traffic.
