20.01.2022 Business as usual Sanitisation is our top focus, with a three-part sanitisation clean for our wetsuits, gloves, booties, snorkels and masks, you can just enjoy hand feeding the range of fascinating species within the Oceanic in-sea aquarium. You are also more than welcome to bring your own gear but you will need to be mindful that you’ll need to carry back over the causeway! 11.01.2022 WILDLIFE VOLUNTEERS WANTED Get outside and explore #GraniteIsland as part of the 2020 penguin census conducted by @flindersuniversity ~ We need physically able people over 18 years old that can help us identify fairy penguins and their burrows around the island! After a decline in population due to fox attacks, the island has now been fitted with fox-proof gates that close every evening as a preventative measure to protect the colony of #LittlePenguins, however there is sti...ll work to be done to preserve the colony in South Australia including our census day this Friday! 02.01.2022 PENGUIN CENSUS We want to protect our colony of #LittlePenguins as much as possible, but we need your help! With recent fox attacks on the island, our remaining penguin colony needs our help more than ever in coming together on October 16th @ 10am 2pm to explore Granite Island by foot and attempt to identify penguin burrows This census will aid ongoing monitoring conducted by @flindersuniversity and funded by the #GreenAdelaide board If you’re up for volunteering a few hours of your time and can climb, stretch and bend easily to locate burrows, please register your interest via the instructions above!
