25.01.2022 Blossom and her mum had a great stay last night in our pet-friendly room and checked out the 'roos grazing in the park last night. See you next time Blossom :D

25.01.2022 Q&A with Timothy Smith from Lalor Park in Sydney. What brings you to Dubbo, Tim? I'm here with six other guys from our team, working on a refurb of Coles. We do the cosmetic, shop fitting, the promotional and signage side of things, to make it look as good as it can. Everything you see except for the refrigeration and electrics, we touch and upgrade.... That's interesting, I guess most people don't think about someone going in there and doing all of that, you're usually just focused on getting your Kit Kats.....I mean, groceries :D Yep, we cover every single state and do all the stores in Australia and there's a lot of travel involved. Next, we'll head to the Central Coast, usually takes us a month or so, per store. You work some crazy hours, that must be hard? We work from 10pm to 6am and then come back to the motel and sleep most of the day, you adapt though. How have you found your five nocturnal weeks in Dubbo? Really good, nice town. The zoo was great, we all went there the first weekend we arrived. I haven't been since I was a little. Nice town though, wish I could have seen the gaol but it's hard when you sleep through the day. What are some of your hobbies, things that keep you grounded outside of your job? I love photography, but it can be a bit hard to fit the other things in I love to do like scuba diving, hiking, kyaking, but that's ok. What's you preferred camera? Canon, of course. How do you find living and working with six other guys for so long? It's good to have your own rooms like we do here, you need a bit of space, but they're a really good bunch, we get on well. Have you enjoyed your time here at the Tallarook, you guys feel like family after this many weeks? Yeah, I've loved it, it's one of the nicest places I've stayed on the job, nice and quiet and the staff is super helpful :) Caption: Scott, Stephan, Tim, Matt and Cameron on one of their days off.

24.01.2022 It's been some wild weather in Dubvegas the last week. These four pilots have been staying with us after some lonnnng, hot, windy days, helping to contain and extinguish the fire in Goonoo Forest via Dubbo. Legends. It's been a pleasure to host you! :)

21.01.2022 Not every motel can boast nightly kangaroo visits, but we can because we claim Lions Park as our own front yard :D Percy the motel cat, is quite intrigued by them as well. Around 20 kangas swing by for a graze each evening. You can watch them from the balcony rooms facing the park.

21.01.2022 Hellloooo little cuties, also mum and dad who have traveled from Newcastle today Welcome to Tallarook #cavaliers #squish #petfriendly

20.01.2022 This is Percy (motel cat/supervisor/likes to roll in dirt) and Clay (human boy). Clay stayed at Tallarook for a couple of nights with his mum and dad. They're from San Remo on the Central Coast, NSW. Clay is a legend. He's a super nice kid and a 'cat whisperer.' True story. Me: 'He really likes you Clay, wow, he's letting you pat him!' Clay: 'Yeah, that's because I'm a cat whisperer. Cats just like me for some reason." Hahaha. Thanks for staying at Tallarook, Clay, come back soon :D

20.01.2022 What an awesome day for the Dubbo Stampede! Captured some of these legends running past Tallarook this morning during the 10k, half and full marathon. We also have a few runners staying here at the motel. They're returning to their rooms slightly less perky than when they left! :D #goyougoodthings

18.01.2022 Hands up - how good's a swim? :D these little cuties taking advantage of the pool as the temp slowly creeps to 36c......eek! hope everyone is having a fab, cool weekend, wherever you are. Team Tallarook

18.01.2022 Here's a few snaps from Tallarook and surrounds this week, including a tiger on the loose (Roary), the dragon boaters and and a pelican who must be a bit lost! :D

18.01.2022 Q&A with our guest, Wayne: My name's Wayne Beard but they call me Chopper. Why's that? :D My brother called me that about 25 years ago when Chopper Read was still alive, 'cause he reckons I look like him, and it stuck! ... Where have you come from today? We drive Perth to Sydney every week, express, leave on a Monday and home on a Friday night which is unknown in the trucking industry - normally you'd work on the weekend so this works out well for me and Daniel (the other driver) so we can spend time on the weekend with our families. So how many kilometres do you cover in a week? Roughly on a round trip it's 8000kms What do you and Daniel talk about in the truck? Not much, really. When he's driving, he listens to a lot of audio books and when he's sleeping and I'm driving, I listen to country music. I love my country music. I love Alan Jackson, Shania Twain, Tim McGraw. I was raised on country music and I love rock 'n roll, too. What do you love most about the job? People say it must be boring, like how can you do the Nullarbor every week? but I don't find the Nullarbor boring. We see something different every week. I've stood on the edge of Australia numerous times, looking up and down the coastline, it's a beautiful sight. What brings you to the Tallarook? Shaws Transport always use the Tallarook. We can park our trucks out the front. I really like it, it's comfortable and everyone is always friendly. It is like a home away from home while we're here.

15.01.2022 If you're visiting Dubbo, let us make your stay an awesome one :D (02) 6882 7066

10.01.2022 Say hi to our first visiting pets staying in our new pet-friendly room at Tallarook, Dubbo. These two cuties traveled a long way today with mum and dad. They've had a run in the park and are now having a snooze on their beds for an early start tomorrow. Look at their little faces! *squish* :D

07.01.2022 Who's a good boy? :D here's a few of our furry guests and their people, from the last few days.

06.01.2022 We've just hung our new art works. Most of the prints were photographed around the Macquarie River. They contain verse from Aussie bush poets like Banjo Patterson, Henry Lawson and Dorothea Mackellar. Here's a few of them, what do you think? :)

05.01.2022 Here's a few snaps from this week at Tallarook. Lots of lovely guests and some nice feedback left for us, our new motel lending library is all systems go and some new art works getting ready to be installed in the rooms....... Plus our lovely Kristie greeting/smooching some of the fur kids. Have a great day from Team Tallarook! :)

04.01.2022 It's been a busy few days at Tallarook over the long weekend! Full house and lots of lovely guests from across Australia. Some were here to keep us in check, some were here to see the zoo and the gaol and some were here to get away from a loud concert near their place in Sydney. Great mix of folk! :D Hope you all had a few nice days off, too. Team Tallarook

01.01.2022 Q&A with guests, Kevin Wilson and Glenn McDonald of Shaws Transport. So you've both just arrived from Perth, welcome back to the Tallarook. Like Wayne and Daniel you have covered about 8000km this week? "We sure have."... I heard you encountered some troubles on the way here? "Yep, a blown tire, hit a couple of kangaroos - a hub cap and shield missing off the front wheel now, we hit an owl, too. An owl? "Yeah, sadly, he flew in to the mirror and we had to stop and put him down." What's the weirdest thing you've ever seen on the road...anything creepy, weird, suss, criminal, ghosts? :D Kevin: The Pilliga Princess. I've heard about that, what happened? "I've taken her for a drive, years ago. True. But they say she's a ghost? "She wasn't then. I think she's passed now, this was back in the 80s. I gave her a few lifts, I felt sorry for her. No woman should be walking that stretch of road between Coona and Narrabri. "I saw a ghost another time too, it was the strangest thing. Where was that? "In a burning truck trailer believe it or not. My other truck partner and I pulled up for the fire and I said to him, 'Look inside that trailer,' and he's looking and I took a pic and he said, 'Holy s***, captain, that 's a person' and it was standing right in the middle of the fire and I kept that pic for years. He asked me the other day have I still got it and I can't find it. I think it was a male but he looked quite peaceful, but no one died in the accident, so it was a bit weird. That's was near Norseman and Balladonia, in W.A.- 40 kms out of Norseman heading west."
