25.01.2022 The storm that rolled over Sydney a couple of nights ago was quite exciting to see and shoot.. Shot with Canon Australia 5DsR + 16-35mm f/2.8L II + NiSi Filters Australia and New Zealand Natural Night @ f/9 - 30 secs - 20mm - ISO400..

24.01.2022 What a night!! I don’t think we could have asked for any better for shooting astro photography in Bermagui on Saturday night. Late in the afternoon the clouds completely disappeared and the forecast was for perfectly clear skies all night with no moon (although I think some ambient moon light from behind us would have helped in this particular location to light up the cliff face just a little bit ). So we made the most of it during the Project RAWcast workshop, packed up ...quickly after dinner and headed out on a mission. I had the Canon Australia EOS R precariously perched on the edge (), thankfully confidently standing nice and steady on the Sirui Australia W-2204. All up this is 190 images shot using the NiSi Filters Australia and New Zealand Natural Night Filter to reduce the light pollution coming from Bermagui as we looked down over Horse Head Rock and Camel Rock during the high tide, which produced a lot of mist and sea spray. After this we moved on to a few other locations and shot late into the night - one of which I had hoped to finally be able to capture something awesome from with the Milky Way location being absolutely perfect for a shot I had been thinking of for quite a while, but which ended up being a failure due to the amount of reflections and light from buildings across the water we were shooting. You win some, and you lose some I guess.. Either way, it was an incredible night standing out under the stars with an awesome group of people talking all things photography for hours on end See more

24.01.2022 Project RAWcast Episode 63 "The NSW Sapphire Coast and camera gear rental with Davey Rogers" is now live! Is there anyone showcasing the stunning region of the NSW Sapphire Coast better than the exceptionally talented Davey Rogers (David Rogers Photography)? This week we chat about his love for the area and returning to his birthplace after leaving a successful career in print media working for some of Australia’s largest companies to chase his passion for photography. Does g...ear matter? Does having access to the latest gear make you a better photographer? Does it influence your own drive and motivation to get out shooting more if you have the latest camera gear in your hands? We discuss this as well as the benefits and disadvantages of renting gear both through traditional means, and through the new Kyy platform operated by Canon Australia. Davey gives his opinion from a very informed marketing background about just what the Kyy platform and any potential competitors in this market means to the photography industry, both from a content developer side as well as from the opinion as gear owners. Davey gets mugged by whales and dives into the water with someone else’s rental gear (not really ). We get wet chasing seascapes and I test the waterproof rating of some of my gear. The food venues in Bermagui close down when they see me coming with a workshop group. A travel influencer is caught with the same clouds in multiple images she has shared. Listen in to hear more and get inspired by a guest whose passion for photography is second to none. Thank you to NiSi Filters Australia and New Zealand and Sirui Australia for the ongoing support of this podcast

23.01.2022 Yesterdays sunrise over Sydney was reasonably ok and worth getting out of bed for Shot with Canon Australia 5DMKIV + 16-35mm f/2.8L III + NiSi 4 stop medium grad..

23.01.2022 A walk up Mt Amos with my partner Jana seemed like a great decision yesterday morning.. I think the shots I captured up there was worth the multiple falls, slips, split and bruised knees, scratches, skin gouges, sunburn and me nearly breaking my wrist falling backwards on the way back down. Jana has just as many slips and falls, almost lost a mobile phone over the edge and did some sort of impressive gymnastics manoeuvre at the top involving an impromptu backflip (not deliberately ) and almost slipping off a straight drop edge... We made it back down alive though. Thankfully. We will be recovering for the next week or so and spent last night in front of the fireplace at Freycinet Lodge numbing the pain with a drink (or 15 ) On a positive note, who else would like to be on the boat there in Wineglass Bay??

22.01.2022 So, about last night..... That was a crazy storm that rolled over Sydney..

16.01.2022 Project RAWcast episode 60 "Colour blindness, podcasting and Adobe with Ben Lee" is now live! This week fellow colourblind photographer, videographer, blogger and now podcaster Ben Lee (itchban.com) joins me this week to chat all things content production! Ben has built a successful career off the back of a lot of hard work and dedication to his craft and now works with some of the biggest brands in the content production industry such as Canon, Adobe and DJI. We have a laugh... at ourselves about some of the challenges we face when producing imagery and working professionally in the photography and content production industry while being colourblind. We chat about his new 529 Podcast and the crazy amount of work @demas and himself are putting into their new project, the freelance life and what that means when you decide to quit your "9 to 5" job and so much more! A recent Adobe update gets us excited about the performance increases and we try to wrap our tongues around the Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K. Thank you to NiSi Filters Australia and New Zealand and Sirui Australia for the ongoing support of this podcast!

12.01.2022 Well that was definitely some crazy conditions tonight just before sunset here in Sydney... I hope everyone is staying safe in the fire effected areas... It's forecast to only get worse

07.01.2022 Here is 310 seconds of pure long exposure bliss over the 12 Apostles (or is it the 8 Apostles? ) Earlier this year on one of my Great Ocean Road trips I was surprised by what was a fairly calm morning with almost no tourists bumping me or bouncing up and down on the boardwalk impacting on the ability to shoot sharp longer exposures. That doesn’t happen very often, so I made the most of it with the NiSi Filters Australia and New Zealand 10 stop ND paired with a 0.9 medium grad, the Canon Australia EOS R and the ever so stable Sirui Australia W-2204 tripod to shoot super long during this peaceful sunrise. It’s amazing just how much cloud movement happens across a period of 5 minutes, even on what is a reasonably calm morning..
