24.01.2022 Spring is here!
24.01.2022 One of our hard working members working with a friend of the garden who was generously passing on her knowledge to help us improve our worm farm. Thank you to Councillor Carol Taylor who came to visit us this morning to see the progress we have made this year.
24.01.2022 Borage and sunflowers attract pollinators when they are in flower. These companion plants attract beneficial insects and birds, among other benefits; but for humans they also provide a pleasant visual experience.
23.01.2022 One of the many benefits of our gardens is that it is a Bird-Friendly Community where you can watch a variety of our feathered friends by taking photos or recording their beautiful singing. But also they help us as organic insect controllers, just like this elegant Currawong, who just grabbed its lunch from one of the plots
22.01.2022 It was great to finally plant the 30 native plants the council donated to us by the TRC. They will fill up the native garden area with colour as well as attract some more birds and bees to our garden.

20.01.2022 Our native raspberry is bearing fruit again. See if you can find this berry in your local nursery: it is delicious. By next week the berries should have turned a lovely shade of pink.
20.01.2022 Unfortunately the weeds love the rain too. Made a start on some seeding along pathways on Permaculture area. Still heaps more to do and there will be more weed growth next Wednesday. Focus for next Wednesday morning could be weeding in the permaculture area and along pathways.

14.01.2022 It was all systems go at the gardens this morning. We got the mulcher going - thanks to Ken’s expertise. The Clifford Park Special School students very kindly gave us a hand to reduce the great mulch pile by spreading it in the permaculture area.

07.01.2022 One of our Plot holders very proud of her cauliflower. The secret could be ‘land cress’ which is a companion plant for brassicas. It helps to deter the moths.

02.01.2022 A praying mantis came to visit at the gardens. I think he was trying to thank the Toowoomba Christian College students who came and volunteered their time in the gardens today. They did an amazing job of weeding on such a very hot day.
