25.01.2022 PDA ran a full competition Drift Event this weekend. With 60 drivers it was a full on day that ran on time and was incident free. We are now looking at hosting more events thanks to our partnership with AASA - so stay tuned for updates! 23.01.2022 A little chat about life... Some people dont understand life. They sit at home, behind a keyboard and criticise, judge or just boo anyone that looks like they are having fun.... The red tape, hurdles and these people do make it tough some days. Yesterday I was lucky enough to host an event at Symmons Plains Raceway. Nothing out of the ordinary - we have run track days and driver training for over 20 years - but yesterday was different. COVID19 has shown all of us that we cant take life for granted. Freedoms have been tested, people have fought over toilet paper and many people have had to deal with death and suffering. Not only that - but in the last week in Tasmania - there has been serious car crashes day after day - and the Australian death toll continues to demonstrate how fragile life is when your luck runs out on the road. I wish every driver could get from A to B safely without fear of being in a serious crash - possibly leading to serious injury or death - and this is a major factor in our ongoing road safety programs. So back to yesterday. Over 50 drivers joined us both on the track and skidpan for a fun day of driving. No awards No prizes No competition Just people enjoying themselves in a safe and controlled environment. I havent seen so many smiles in a long time. People were just happy to be able to enjoy life, with mates and for a short while - the world stopped. My years of teaching road safety and hosting events like these have always been a mixture of feelings - but yesterday it all seemed worthwhile. Sure, I had to tell a few people to behave - but thats all part of the job and part of keeping these days safe. Overall however it wasnt just a track day - it was a family reunion of all like minded car enthusiasts. From a Tesla to a Patrol (no comment) to race cars and daily drivers - the one thing common was the positive vibes. Without the continued support of my staff, suppliers, venue owners (thanks Motorsports Tasmania), caretakers (thanks Ben) and most of all customers - we would all be stuck at home reading the doom and gloom that has flooded all media for the last 6 months. So thank you to you all - I may seem like a cranky old man but I honestly love my job and love having you at any of our PDA or associated events or training. 15.01.2022 ROAD SAFETY TRAINING Doesn't have to suck! For years, people have preferred to drive with just the bare essentials when it comes to driver training avoiding 'defensive driving' or 'advanced driving' courses.... The fact that you have a licence should be evidence enough that you can drive. But is it really? Thousands of people are killed and seriously injured on our roads every year. These are every day people like you and me - going about day life. In recent weeks I have personally attended two very serious crashes within 10kms of my home - in both cases I arrived before the emergency services and rendered assistance. In both situations people could have died and in my opinion - the crashes were avoidable. Im pleased to hear that all of those involved have now made a recovery - but it still reminded me of how serious motor crashes can be. As a human being, one of our downfalls is we 'don't know what we don't know'. Ignorance is bliss - apparently! When it comes to driving however this is often highlighted when drivers are not prepared for unexpected hazards, bad weather or other emergency. Effective training is the ONLY way to stack the odds in your favour when the chips are down. This training has been around for years. I know this because I have delivered it since 1997! (Yes I'm that old). So why don't people want to go? Because often 'safety' training is boring, repetitive or entirely 'compliance' based (tick the box). That's why you need to talk to us! Our training is delivered by a team or professionals with real world experience and a passion for motorsport. We see the things that can go wrong as a result of many factors - distractions, poor judgement changing road conditions etc. PDA Training programs are hands on, engaging and focus on delivering real world outcomes (while still ticking the boxes!). I'm sorry if anyone is offended - but clearly this sounds like an all too common occurrence - and people are not learning that these factors can kill you, your friends and/or other people.

We are looking for a qualified, friendly and experienced trainer to deliver our Brisbane based programs at Mt Cotton, Lakeside or Willowbank.... All training is delivered on week days. Work volume varies but we are looking initially at 2-4 days per month - with the plan to increase that moving forward. If you have your CERT IV and experience - get in touch! 09.01.2022 Another great day of defensive driving training today at Symmons Plains with a fantastic group of people. A large group with a variety of vehicles meant we had two trainers on hand to ensure the day went smoothly. All attendees gained valuable skills and understanding of some of the myriads of hazards that exist and useful techniques for avoiding them.
